Love this place! The bindi heros are the bomb. I usually get it with pepperoni and bacon. Great place to eat late night when everywhere is closed. You will not be disappointed!

    A bindy!

Come for the Bindy! Green Deli is your typical Long Island hole-in-the-wall Deli, but that's a good thing! While parking here is tight, the visit is worth the effort to find a spot, although I'd argue that you could find similar sandwiches at other great delis, with one exception of course being the Bindy! So what is this Bindy I keep referring to? It's chicken cutlets, melted mozzarella and crispy bacon served with Russian dressing on a roll or hero (for a definite difference in price, with the hero costing $2 more). While other delis have similar recipes, this place really gets it right. The sandwich is served warm with tender chicken, savory mozzarella, and crispy bacon (as promised). I've tried this sandwich on a number of occasions and have always been impressed, so much so that I visit this Deli strictly for that reason. Others who have ventured here have had similar praises about the other sandwiches this place has to offer. For instance, Joanna L. has been coming here since childhood and was the first to recommend we visit. I was glad she introduced me to this place, which has become my favorite south shore Deli. Prices here are reasonable as far as Deli standards go, with sandwiches costing an average between $5 and $10. I am also pleased whenever I see the "Boars Head" seal on any Deli, which this place serves. In addition to sandwiches, you'll find your standard assortment of beverages and snacks to pair with your roll or hero. Service here is also standard: efficient and friendly enough. A solid 4 stars in my book!

The Bindy Special: Chicken cutlet, bacon, mozzarella, Russian dressing on a roll or hero, your choice.

They never answer their phone but when they do the bindi is a great late night sandwich! Never ordered anything else before though.

They have…read moreproducts and produce here that you won't find anywhere else, except an Italian specialty market. I can always count on them for beautiful broccoli-rabe and escarole. I come here for my hard to find Italian groceries like decaf espresso powder, Anna pasta and Brioshci (I actually get the Galeffi). And of course a box of Torone. In the back is a great little meat market where I get some of the best pork chops and my Bell & Evan's chicken. They also have great sausages, pinwheel steaks and really nice burgers and ground meat. All perfect to add to my Sunday sauce with a nice hunk of braciole or throw on the grill. I was here recently and I was hoping that the deli & bakery would be open, but not yet. I'm hoping they open soon. I miss having a nice loaf of semolina bread and getting my fresh stuffed shells. Prices are good, but you have to pick out your fruits and veggies. Now, if you cook, you should know how to do this. It's why you get such great buys. If you just want to buy it and it's all perfect, go pay 3x the price elsewhere. The fruit section is good. They do have a few seasonal items, like Cardone, or Zucchini blossoms. But the best part is and you can get almost everything here year round. If you're an Italian American who wants their foods, this is the place.

I must say, though that there has been one disappointment lately. They used to carry a brand of cannoli cookies made by Maria's Taralli. For reasons unknown to me they stopped carrying them and now carry a different kind of cannoli cookie, which does not measure up. Please bring back Maria's cannoli cookies. They are the best. I had to find another store that carried them, and I will include pictures of the most delicious cannoli cookies.

$3.81 cheaper at Stop n Shop. Similar expiration date in 2025. I can understand up to a $1 difference, but this is criminal.

Sometimes the deli staff don't look too happy being there. Sometimes they look like they really don't want to look up and address you as a customer. The store is always very clean and smells good. I have fond memories of of a bakery from the 70s and before called Ebinger's. Their blackout cake (so-called because it was named when NYC and other areas were required to keep most night lighting to a minimum during WWII) was fantastic with chocolate pudding and crumb coating. A neighbor mentioned this store carried something similar. I visited the store and they said they didn't have any at the time, but could order it and have it ready for pick up the next morning. Excellent! Picked up my 13" cake the next day. It was fantastic. I will definitely order it again. Best $22. I've spent. I recommend ordering one. You won't be sorry. Tell them you saw it on Yelp. One more thing. I really wish the cashiers would be told to greet the customer with at least a minimal, "Hi" and a "Thank you." There is usually an awkward silence, so the customer fills the gap with a thank you, which really SHOULD be coming from the cashier. Their response is typically more silence or the more cringey, "no problem" which is worse. Please, store manager, have a talk with them.
