Was excited to try out another sandwich shop that was open 24/7. After reading the reviews riding the Bindy, I drove over to try it out. Painfully average. If you're up at 3am and want bread and the flavor of Russian dressing, the Bindy is for you. Because that's basically the only texture and flavor this sandwich has. For just under $10, you get to taste Russian dressing. I had to open it up to see if there were any other ingredients. I mean, I guess there technically was a chicken "cutlet" and bacon. If you mean half a chicken breast tenderized until it's less than a centimeter tall. Hardly any breading. The amount of bacon added in a hero was about the same as you can expect from a White Castle slider. This place is only good if you're up at 3am, don't have a vehicle, and are under the influence. Save yourself the trouble and just drink Russian dressing. I would rate this place a 2.5/5 but since it's open 24/7, i'll round up. read more

The Bindy special was created by a very hungry 16 year old who had a massive case of the munchies. The sandwich which was already being made but called a "chicken cutlet sandwich" at the time had the classic russian dressing but lacked the bacon. I used to add the bacon. My friends and I frequently bought sandwiches, drinks, and dutchmasters late at night. So the manager at the time was very friendly with us. There were other sandwiches like an "Ed Special" and so on.. The name Bindy derives from my last name which sounds like bindy. So when i walked in the store they used to shout bindyyyyy. One night they were redoing the signs with the names of the sandwiches and fate have you we were there. So the manager asked if i wanted to name a sandwich and we agreed on Bindy Special. I always wanted lettuce on that sandwich. It was meant to have lettuce but i forgot to tell him when he was writing the sign which was just written on a paper plate and scotch taped to the deli glass at the time. Come for the Bindy! Green Deli is your typical Long Island hole-in-the-wall Deli, but that's a good thing! While parking here is tight, the visit is worth the effort to find a spot, although I'd argue that you could find similar sandwiches at other great delis, with one exception of course being the Bindy! So what is this Bindy I keep referring to? It's chicken cutlets, melted mozzarella and crispy bacon served with Russian dressing on a roll or hero (for a definite difference in price, with the hero costing $2 more). While other delis have similar recipes, this place really gets it right. The sandwich is served warm with tender chicken, savory mozzarella, and crispy bacon (as promised). I've tried this sandwich on a number of occasions and have always been impressed, so much so that I visit this Deli strictly for that reason. Others who have ventured here have had similar praises about the other sandwiches this place has to offer. For instance, Joanna L. has been coming here since childhood and was the first to recommend we visit. I was glad she introduced me to this place, which has become my favorite south shore Deli. Prices here are reasonable as far as Deli standards go, with sandwiches costing an average between $5 and $10. I am also pleased whenever I see the "Boars Head" seal on any Deli, which this place serves. In addition to sandwiches, you'll find your standard assortment of beverages and snacks to pair with your roll or hero. Service here is also standard: efficient and friendly enough. I'm not a local of the neighborhood but started working around the area doing overnight shifts. Being that I work overnights or anyone that does around here, It's hard to find places that are open 24 hours to find something to munch on. Like the few reviews listed here, you find this place by word of mouth. The first thing asked of is if you've had the bindy. When asked, I replied with, what's that? And then received the biggest "what!? Are you kidding!?" From there we went straight to get one. It's heaven wrapped up waiting to be eaten. ITS SOOO GOOD. Nothing more to say then get one. If I could give this deli 0 zero stars I would. Customer service is horrible. I called to place an order and the person who answered was very rude and had me on hold for 20 minutes without saying anything. He calls me back 30 minutes later and asked if I was coming and I told him no he had me on hold for too long so I don't need it anymore. He starts yelling at me and hangs up. Absolutely love this deli!!! This has been in Lynbrook for more than 15 years. It literally has everything from ranging flavors of different candies to great drinks. This deli is not halal for anyone who wants to know! My friends who don't have any restrictions tell me about how great the bindi sandwich is, and even though its called the Green Deli, the snapchat location is "the bindi spot" which is pretty cool. I've got to give this place five stars because it's been 10 years since I've had a bindy and stepped into the green deli. The store has changed alot and so have the people behind the counter but the Bindy was impressivly still the same! And the man woking behind the counter Charlie was very nice!
