Let's start with... THE GOOD: The place is like a small Whole Foods, during their best days. Super clean, the produce is a sight to behold. Though not large, I felt like a vegan in heaven. Nice selection, creative and diverse stocking, and very well layed out and organized. THE BAD: I amazed to see reviews here where some say the prices are a "little high". These folks are warped by the excess money they have at their disposal. Sorry, but because you can afford a Lamborghini does not mean it is a good deal. These folks have no sense of real world, nor value. Let me underscore just how overpriced this chain is. There was a package of 4 healthy sodas for $17. That's $4.25 each. Fine. Go 2 miles down the street and you can get the same package for $12. And that is still grossly overpriced. Even badder: I also live on the UES of Manhattan and can get the very same products for around 25% less. Imagine, groceries I buy on LI and bring to the city. But health food items, are somehow cheaper in the city? THE UGLY: I don't think the store staff is super helpful, nor super bad. That is a problem at these prices. I expect super helpful. But again, even uglier: Today we encountered the most disgustingly rude, indifferent, and "wish I was anywhere but here" look on a cashier's face I can recall ever encountering. I like shopping at Wild by Nature but I really wish the management would pay closer attention to the cashiers who seem to always be wiping their noses with their hands and then touching my food items. In search of cucumbers as there was a recall in NYS and a few others. Found organic cucumbers and then decided to walk around the store. The store is extremely clean and well kept. I am not the 'health food' or 'organic' type but when I saw the regular rotisserie chicken, I had to try ($9.99). They also had organic rotisserie chicken for a much higher cost ($15.99) but decided to buy the regular choice. I've purchased rotisserie chicken from Stop and Shop, Costco, King Kullen, Shop Rite, and Foodtown, always a hit or miss, mostly miss. This was the best, the tastiest rotisserie chicken I have ever had. Take a drive to the Oceanside store and pick up a regular rotisserie chicken, you won't be disappointed. read more

'm fed up with this place. They make me feel so uncomfortable to be a spanish woman who shops there. Majority of the employees are super rude ESPECIALLY THE CASHIERS!!! They are always so bored and uninterested- they don't know how to bag properly. Sometimes they just wait until you do it all yourself. I'm all for helping to bag my own stuff, but to stand there and just wait till i'm done and not ask for Help is just rude and horrible customer service. Their cashiers need a SERIOUS training session from Chic-fil-a , who actually treat their customers with respect. I just stopped in here for a bite to eat from their deli. I had such an amazing experience between the selection a food to take out to go and the quality of the food. I grabbed a few things and a slice of carrot cake which was phenomenal and eat in the car because I'm in a hurry. Wild by Nature is a breath of fresh air. It's super clean, well lit, has fresh produce, fish, meat, cheese and pre-made meals. As soon as I walked in, I fell in love. Wild by Nature is actually owned / part of King Kullen. This location is next to Walgreens and has been here for several years. There are many choices for organic and natural food. The selection is similar to Trader Joe's. Plenty of organic fruits and vegetables. The store does not carry organic pork but has natural fed pork, grass fed beef and bison. There is organic chicken and natural chicken. They carry seafood. They carry gluten free but do not have products that are free of most allergens i.e. Gluten free but has dairy or egg, corn, soy, peanut, etc. So if you have many allergies you have to be careful and read the packaging. There is a deli, soup station and sushi bar but I have never tried them. There is a bakery as well and I have tried the pastries and bread and it was good. Plenty of cold and hot cereal choices. Also they sell grains, rice, nuts by the bulk. Prices are high, on par with Trader Joe's and Whole Foods but cheaper than Jandi's. read more

One stop organic shopping is what you find at Wild by Nature. I find their produce section on the smallish side, and their organic meat section larger than other "organic" markets. Their Angus is Grass fed and the Poultry is free range. That said, you can find hard to find items here. I finally found the Carob powder I was looking for. They have a beauty aisle which has an ass ton of organic everything. and thankfully they have Tom's of Maine Propolis & Myrrh Cinnamint flavor ( my personal fave) Decent frozen section, lot's of Amy's brand, Bocca, Dr Praeggers. Udi's pizza's Glutten free waffles, Van's etc.... I cannot list everything.... And then they have frozen greek yogurt pops, and frozen almond milk bites. Desserts up the friggin whazoo, too. Vegan cakes, gluten free cakes that taste like regular cake. Organic pet section, Newman's own dog and cat food. organic cleaning product aisle with seventh generation products. SO....Why they are the greatest??? They have the largest selection of Gluten Free products. Trust me, I have been everywhere In Nassau County looking. They also have a lot of dairy free, nut free. they of course cater to carnivores and Vegan's alike. THE GLUTEN FREE SELECTION IS AMAZE-BALLS! *The one thing I really dislike is all the stations given to companies trying to hook out their new products aka Pimp their stuff. It is very distracting, and every aisle you turn down someone is like heyyyyyyy! and they are in the parking lot too. I must say, I used to LOVE this store. Until I recently found out their deli food is not even organic! For the prices they are charging, you have got to be kidding me!! And also a friend informed me that they keep their "organic produce" for the juices in the same refrigerator as all the meats and dairy. I'm sorry, but that's disgusting. I also happen to know they don't treat their regular customers very well. I have one friend who used to get food delivered and suddenly they stopped - with no reason at all. And another friend who was shopping there several days a weej who was accused of stealing. Over an item that had been rung in incorrectly. Seriously!? That is absurd! This place is a vegans PARADISE. I could go here looking for any vegan cheese, mock meat, plant milk, etc and most likely, they'll have it. Also, one of the only stores I could find Gluten flour in. I can not say enough good things about this supermarket. They have a great selection of organic food, both fresh and frozen. You will find selections of food s that you can't find in any other supermarket. They even have an organic ramen noodle soup that is only 3 grams of fat and much lower in sodium than a traditional store bought ramen soup. They have prepared foods that compliment each other nicely such as Brussel sprouts and sweet potato fries. I recently tried their soups and was impressed by their delicious taste. This is a nice store. They carry a large selction of vegetarian and vegan item and natural items too. They always have these chocolate bars that i can only find on the web. Plus this place makes the best Inari at the Sushi counter! Cheap too!!! They have stuff I can not seem to find anywhere - not even at the venerable Whole Foods. The staff are always freindly. They give you 5 cents back for each shopping bag you bring and reuse. Plus they are very eco-friendly with their refridgerated lighting - it only clciks on when you are near it. Plus - for all you eco-fans - this is an interesting bit -LIPA (Long Island Power Authority) gave this Wild by Nature the coveted USGBC's (U.S. Green Building Council) Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification. LOVE. Love, love, love. The store is always clean, the produce is always fresh, and the staff members are all very nice. I love the selection of organic and also not-organic foods & food items. Sometimes you just want regular ol' pasta, not whole wheat or spelt, but you do want organic tomatoes. And they make it easy. Great beer selection too- Rogue stout, Mother's Milk, etc. As well as some of the regular standby's like Sam Adams. I've never bought anything here that wasn't fresh. DO NOT BUY: Banana chocolate chip muffins. ugh. Gross. I have a better recipe, I'll send it to you if you want it. Seriously. I love this store and the selection of products. It's the closest thing to Whole Foods in the area for alternative options. If you live nearby - I'd definitely recommend checking it out. I probably stop in monthly and pick up some unique items. However, the juice/smoothie bar and deli areas can use some work. I brought my mom in a couple of months ago for a smoothie, and she asked for some fruit add ins (like mango and avocado) that weren't typically used I guess. They looked but couldn't completely accommodate because the avocado in store was not ripe, so I think they agreed on mango and berries? Some of these items were frozen (which I have found at other juice bars as well). To use them in the blender, the helpful service person started microwaving the frozen items. And it appeared he left the items in the microwave past defrosting. I felt bad and didn't say anything because they were trying. This may indicate a lack of training and management communication. Because of this I have a hard time getting mad at people in the service industry (been there) because there's a good chance that a lot is expected of them without the needed support. On a separate occasion I ordered a sandwich from the deli which was skimpy and the mayo used came out of little packets. The girl who made my sandwich was very nice, but I definitely bit into more bread than sandwich. It was just an odd sandwich to receive from a big deli in a somewhat fancy store. They used to have a hot bar which was decent if you were there early enough, and they used to put out better prepared meals in the fridge area. The appetizing level of the juice bar and deli has room for improvement. Better training and higher wages will make for better experiences for the employees and patrons. I have been visiting this store more often as they tend to stock some hard to find vegan foods. The selection is awesome and they always have new items. When I treat myself to a baked good, it's nice to be able to find a nice vegan selection and during my last visit they had pecan tarts which were sooo good. Also be sure to try the new Beyond Meat 'chicken' strips which I didn't even know existed! The deli case remains hit or miss. I came her specifically looking for Chia Co.'s chia pods. After going to Stop & Shop (which was supposed to have them, but did not), Jandi's, and Trader Joe's, I was about to give up. I called Wild by Nature, and when I asked if they had them, the woman on the phone said yes! So I rushed over, went looking all around the store, and finally, almost at the end, I found them! I was soooo happy...until I realized the only flavors they had were blueberry, mango, and banana. I was hoping for dark cacao or coffee. I wanted a rich flavor, not something bright and fruity. But I guess I should have clarified which ones I was looking for. Since I had come all the way over here, I decided I might as well have a proper look around. I was pleased to see they sell Navitas Naturals here, so I bought the powdered wheatgrass and the superfruit powder (with hemp, maca, and cacao) to use in my Nutribullet when making smoothies. They also had ghee, which I could not find at Stop & Shop. I bought wild rice as well. I loved the grains section. The whole place was very cute, but I had just gone food shopping, so I didn't need much. The total came to a whopping $55. $55 for butter, two smoothie powders, and less than a pound of rice? That's insane. I definitely would not come here often, considering the prices and that's it's about a 25 minute drive, but they have lots of products that can't be found anywhere else. Most items here are pretty pricey however they have a lot of products that I can't find anywhere else. I love that they carry the raw and organic foods that I am always trying to stock up on. I love the Kombucha drink flavors they carry. My favorite things to buy there are: Raw and organic sauerkraut, kombucha, frozen organic vegetables, gluten free snacks, nutritional yeast and the popcorn chips (favorite is the spicy jalapeno, yum) I will be back but only to purchase certain items. Yes, they can be expensive. Yes, some stuff has been on the shelves a bit long but all the pluses of this store make up a lot of it. Fantastic, helpful and knowledgable staff - esp. with the supplements and vitamins. Super products you can't find anywhere else (try the coconut milk ice cream for example).
