06/27/2025 , not sure what happened since the last time I've been there but there has been a swift change. When I first arrived there was a line to enter the parking lot , but thats not unusual. I parked across the street to avoid the line. As I walked in the door, I noticed there were no carts, I grabbed a basket. After walking at least seven steps, I noticed a line circling around the produce section. So, it appears Trader Joes did some remodeling, instead of standing in the line for one register, it's just one line to access all registers. it's hard to access the items that you need without cutting through the line. The wait time is unbearable. I will give Trader Joe's time to figure this out. It's unfortunate , I cant enjoy two of my favorites : Orange Chicken and Chicken Sharwma. Im not sure why they made the changes however, I will visit the Metropolitan location from now on. read more

Trader Joe's - Register set up - Grocery Near Me - Hewlett, New York

This Trader Joe's is smaller than your typical location, so it can feel a bit cramped and tends to get crowded, especially during peak times. They still have a wide variety of items and you can usually find what you're looking for. There is a private parking lot. One thing I really appreciated is how friendly the staff is and that they actually bag your groceries for you. read more

Trader Joe's - Grocery Near Me - Hewlett, New York

I've been shopping here for over 25 years. They always have new interesting items and at a very reasonable price. I never go in for one thing, I come out with a large bag of things to try and am rarely disappointed. The parking lot is chaotic, and it can get REALLY busy at times, but I have to say that the new register set up has dramatically improved the wait. Yesterday I came in for a couple items I can't get anywhere else and the line literally went around the store and up two aisles. I timed my wait. 7 minutes. And of course since the line was winding through the aisles...I grabbed few more things, LOL. read more

I drive 20 minutes to get here. I know not to come on a Sunday. And i don't care how crazy the parking lot is. I love this location. The set up. It just works for me. read more

We are fans of Trader Joe's but not for this location. It's really crowded on a Sunday afternoon with no capacity limit, which was our concern. We still could find the products we needed and the lineup was still in good arrangement. However, they should reconsider the check out line since it's kind of confusing for customers who visited for the first time. read more

So- I have never been a "Trader Joe's" kind of shopper because whenever I would go there I didn't know what to look for or how good their products were. Until... I needed to find natural almond butter that didn't cost an arm and a leg!!! I purchased their almond crunch nut butter and OMG! it's THE best I have ever had!!! So now I am hooked on Trader Joe's and I'm starting to look for more amazing products that pique my interest and tastebuds! So glad searching for a particular product brought me to you read more

I can say products are good, and the staff is helpful. BUT. At the checkout they added extra products to my receipt. In this case it was T Danny (that was the name on the receipt) and instead of one tea he added three 5$ ones to the check. It took me about an hour to get to this location and of course i didn't go back after I saw something on the check that i didn't buy. But the aftertaste remained. Be careful. Check your receipts twice. read more

As products are good, and the staff is helpful. They stand by their products and will refund the ones that you are not satisfied with. I would advise that you get here early as the parking lot gets full and the lines will form. read more

PURE CHAOS... From the parking lot to the registers, chaos reigns supreme, with checkout lines multiplying like rabbits and people seemingly teleporting to the front. Even the cashier seems lost in the labyrinth of undefined queues. While the employees are friendly, navigating this maze may require some serious zen-like patience to keep anxiety from reaching critical levels. This location use to be great but now... I will pass on by. read more

Love TJ and especially this location is great. The staff members are so friendly and helpful. This is my staple grocery store that I go to on a monthly basis. The weekends are super busy with a huge crowd. The best time to go are the weekdays especially on Wednesdays. Tj is always stocked with many options to choose from and is very affordable. Social distancing is being practiced when checking out. read more

I've been to many Trader Joe's but this is the worst one in the area. Many things were out of stock which was annoying because it makes my shopping harder. It does have a parking lot which is good because it makes the shopping experience easier. The store was clean but it had a weird vibe compared to the other stores I have been too. The staff was too friendly but were efficient. I would return if I'm not near another location. However, I really would really prefer ANY other location then this one. This one needs better management! read more

Customer Service!!!!!!! I wish all grocery stores had this kind of customer service. This place is fantastic! The very first thing I noticed was the pleasant and inviting attitude of every single employee there. It made me want to spend even more of my money lol. The food is fresh, cheese selection is wonderful, and the store layout/design is great. The only complaint I have is that I wish that this store was bigger. read more

I really didn't like this location and won't be back. This place had such a weird vibe ! Starting with the random reggae/ Ska music playing !!!! I don't think any of the customer service reps on the sales floor asked me if I needed help or greeted me. The staff was not very friendly and seemed to prefer to socialize amongst themselves than perform their job duties. The sales floor could have used some TLC also. I hate the sloppy layout here and organization of this store. The produce aisle sucked. Wasn't much to choose from. The Parking lot was a nightmare. Unmarked pavement allowing the hippies who traveled far and wide here to take up 2 spaces for their Volkswagens and mini coopers. A damn shame. I'll continue to shop in Westbury, where my patronage is valued and respected. read more

I gave this store a 4 because it's def one of the smallest stores and because of the size they are very limited in terms of what they could carry. I usually visit the stores either in Union Square(my fave), Chelsea or the one downtown Brooklyn on Court St but I was visiting someone close by this location and popped in. Yikes, didn't find most of what I was looking for but I was able to grab a few of my faves and one new item that I am so excited about. My favorite Trader Joe items include this spicy guacamole, their Tea Tree Tingle shampoo which makes my locs squeaky clean, Ice Pops and Vitamin E oil and this new Lemon and Fever Grass. These are all major go to items and I love that I can get them for all under $3. read more

Very unprofessional. I was approached by a bald head older age male in his late 40's around 5'3. very aggressively, about my service dog.he stated that I had to leave bc she was barking unaware of my medical condition which I did not disclosed bc I'm not obligated to do so. He continued to go back and forth with me about my service dog not having on a "vest" lol. I told him that was not a law and I would leave once I finish paying for my food very politely. After that he said "well she has to leave" I don't know if it's a law or not but she's Scaring my employee, and walked away. I felt embarrassed at this point because all eyes were on me due to his unprofessional and careless act. I made sure I asked the young lady at the register with very bright pink long hair was she ok with me being at her register with my dog. She said it was ok, just for me to just pass her my items. While ringing up my food I felt the tension was very high which made me VERY uncomfortable due to the lack of training of one of the I assume managers. While waiting for my purchase to be complete right next to her it was a another employee who was also working at the cash register dealing with another customer who decided to make his business to talk about me and say very disrespectful things with a face only a mother can love if that. I asked him what was the problem he then started to mock me and a very much disrespectful way. His face was screwed up and continued to mimic showing off his feminine side (very flamboyant). He was about 6ft, dark hair, Hispanic with very bad skin. You can clearly see he was one of those attention seekers who wanted to be apart of something really bad. I felt it was my business to give him the attention that he was crying for. I then asked sincerely what was the problem, and if there wasn't anything I can do to fix his face! He act as if he didn't hear me and continued to be the little disgusting person he is, and speak about to another Hispanic guy. While leaving I said my goodbyes to the young lady and here comes the over grown 4 year old (Hispanic male) screams BYEEEEE while I proceeded to walk away with my items. I told him to stop playing with me because I'm not one of them! He kept saying BYEEE. I then told him to with a high pitched voice to stop, and to stay in his place! I left the store very disappointed with how poorly the costumer service was. I respect the young lady with the pink hair bc no matter if she felt a way or not she remained professional the whole time. I will never recommend this location bc of this incident. I've been coming to this location with my service dog for years and I have never felt so disappointed with the unprofessionalism of the establishment! Do BETTER TRADER JOE'S I will be contacting the BBB,and going further with this situation. For the record dogs bark! There is no other way for ANY SERVICE ANIMAL to you to it's that time! read more

This location was busy, but the lines were fast and I was able to get what I needed. The products sold at Trader Joe's are always reliable and sold at fair prices! Some of my favorites include the Panko breaded tilapia, goes perfectly with their tarter sauce and their mango/peach yogurt. I am a regular shopper at Trader Joe's and am accustomed to their superb customer service. When I went to this location in Hewlett, I was disappointed to find that this was lacking. I asked an employee that was stocking the shelf a question about two products and was rudely brushed off and subsequently ignored. This put a sour taste in my mouth and made me think twice about asking their employees for help. read more

This is one of the few Trader Joe's where it doesn't feel like your shopping on thanksgiving. I don't know if it's because of the time of day, but this is set up just like every other Trader Joe's. It's sooo chaotic here, and the workers are in on it too. They are very rude when I ask for their help, or at least the men. It's kinda creepy. They make it seem like it's so elite when everything is kinda flavorless and stale. Don't like it. Won't be back here again. read more

I went to Trader Joes in Hewlett, NY because I was told by an employee when I called that they had plenty of Christmas greens and wreaths. The parking lot as always was horrendous, a free for all. I found the greens and they were a hot mess. They were dry, some brown and losing needles. I could not get one bunch that was all good and asked if they would put some together at the same price so I would at least get a decent bunch. Nope, we'll donate it. That's a big help. The rest of the store did not have the Trader Joe vibe I was used to in Oceanside and Merrick, it was dingy and icky and overall not friendly. I will not be going back. read more

This Trader Joe's is a shining example of how all other Trader Joe's should be. It's a bit smaller than the Oceanside and Westbury locations that I go to more often. Their employees are all fantastic. I came here around 7pm on a Thursday night and had a really nice cashier. I went back to customer service a few minutes later because I was double charged for something and the man at the customer service booth didn't check my bag and believed me and gave me my money back. The return was super fast and efficient. There was a lot of parking outside, but this was a busy store nonetheless. Some of the aisles were difficult to navigate because of the amount of people, but this was definitely a good Trader Joe's run. I was really surprised to see that this store carried their limited edition holiday chocolate covered star cookies. The Oceanside location only had the mint ones. I'll be going to both locations from now on! read more

You have to be a certain type of customer to enjoy this specially food store, because it's more. More organic venues, good selection of fruit and veggies. Good dairy and ok to fair meat department, limited name brand grocery but a lot of interesting brands of prepared foods and dishes you do not see everyday. I was especially happy to see how they handled fresh flowers on Valentine's Day, great assortment of roses of course and many other flowers but... half the price of a florist or other fruit specialty stores that always rip you off. Real classy that I was able to buy 3 dz. assorted roses for $36.00 and 8 days later when fruit store flowers wilt these are almost perfect. This made my day and worth the review! read more

Of all the Trader Joe's I tried in the NY area (Atlantic Ave. in BKLN, Union Sq. in Manhattan, Rego Park in Queens), this is definitely my least favorite. This TJ is kind of sad. The place is small, and it doesn't have many of the TJ products available at other locations; prices are still competitive, but the quality of the fresh produce is not up to par to that that I find at the other TJ stores. Moreover, it doesn't sell any alcohol, including TJ beers. Also, to get to this store you have to drive to one of the bleakest part of Long Island I've ever seen. In this respect, this store certainly reflects the charm of the neighborhood. Only plus: parking is easy. read more

This trader joes is amazing!!! The staff is super friendly. I can ask them anything and they will stop what they are doing to help me. The produce is fresh everyday. The commute is great especially if you live in queens or valley stream. It can get a little crowded but none the less it is still a great experience. You must have patience as the space is limited along with the parking lot (which belongs to hempstead, NOT TRADER JOES). Soooo many snack options and seasonal items. Some customers can be a bit rude but you just have to smile and not give the same negative energy back. Great place to be with the kids as they try to find the store teddy bear billy bob. You can get a free lollipop if you find em. read more

I love Trader Joe's and this is definitely my favorite location. It's the closest one too me and not as crowded as the others I've been to. Sometimes the parking lot can be a pain, but that's when it's busy and it's not always busy, especially not like other Trader Joe's. The staff is helpful. My favorite products (raw cashews, tomato soup, the chocolates, the root beer) are always in stock. I have found many new products here. I love the flyer. I like the new expansion. I love everything about this shop. Well, I do wish there were more deals and a wine shop would be nice at this location. lol read more

Being from the neighborhood I've been coming to this location for years. Today I had a very unpleasant experience with manager Antonio. I'm expecting mom (7 month pregnant) came to the store today with my 1,5 years old son who was seating in the shopping cart. When I tried to enter the restroom with my son on the cart Antonio forbid me to use the bathroom because I cannot take the cart with me. He suggested that my 1,5 y.o son can hang out in the restroom if I had to go. I doubt any reasonable parent will allow this, especially during a pandemic time. Shame on you Antonio. So until the new Trader Joe's opens up in {Westbury} Long Island my only TJ's options are Manhattan (hard to bring home frozen stuff to BK), BK (only store in the borough = always crowded) and this location in Hewlett, NY. Before we found this location I had never even heard of Hewlett NY. But we were in Long Island running some errands... and I was craving some almond milk & jo-jo's... so we stopped in. The store itself is fine. It's not Manhattan's 6th Ave or BK's store but its pretty decent in size. The prices were very much comparable to NYC, except I did notice the milk was a whopping twenty cents more (still cheaper than just about every other grocery store I visit.) My biggest complaint would be the checkout process. It was slow. I'm used to the single lines that form & move quickly in NYC, at this location it was a free-for-all at the 5 cashiers that were open. We finally made it out (bonus points for the parking lot!) and headed home. All and all a good trip to TJ's. read more

Love Trader Joe's but hate this location! The parking lot is an utter disaster! It is so unorganized! Then you got the customers in the store who completely have no regards for anyone around them! The parking lot is a nightmare. The store is always packed, things are always out of stock. It didn't used to be like this - there were quieter times to shop there but now it's insane regardless of the day or time.
