I asked to see strainers because I couldn't find them, the stock clerk actually walked me over to were the strainers and kitchenware was located and told me where I could find more strainers if that's not what I was looking for. THE MERCHANDISER** I am always excited to see a well merchandised store. I had to stop and tell the merchandiser/ stock clerk/ silent sales person, how good of a job he was doing even if he never hear it again. He thanked me! He maximizes sales by managing product display and ensuring that shelves are fully stocked. If the shelves aren't fully stocked the merchandiser will use the fronting method and facing technique. That's when you walk in the grocery store in this instance and see the product pulled to the front of the shelves, squared to make the shelf look full and the product is properly faced so you see the front of the product and not the side or the back of the product. See pics! I'm considering to start shopping at Western Beef more often and I do find it interesting how they have a walk-in freezer where you'd find meats. While Stop & Shop is banking on impulse buys and smaller package margins my delayed gratification and bulk economics of BJ's win out, which makes me a winner. I refuse to purchase from Stop and Shop that day but they may have a better bargain another day.
