I've been looking for plums for quite some time. The staff did go above and beyond with customer service delivery. I asked to see strainers because I couldn't find them, the stock clerk actually walked me over to were the strainers and kitchenware was located and told me where I could find more strainers if that's not what I was looking for. THE MERCHANDISER** I am always excited to see a well merchandised store. I had to stop and tell the merchandiser/ stock clerk/ silent sales person, how good of a job he was doing even if he never hear it again. He thanked me! He maximizes sales by managing product display and ensuring that shelves are fully stocked. If the shelves aren't fully stocked the merchandiser will use the fronting method and facing technique. That's when you walk in the grocery store in this instance and see the product pulled to the front of the shelves, squared to make the shelf look full and the product is properly faced so you see the front of the product and not the side or the back of the product. See pics! I'm considering to start shopping at Western Beef more often and I do find it interesting how they have a walk-in freezer where you'd find meats. While Stop & Shop is banking on impulse buys and smaller package margins my delayed gratification and bulk economics of BJ's win out, which makes me a winner. I refuse to purchase from Stop and Shop that day but they may have a better bargain another day. Stepping inside of this grocery chain and I am familiar with the name; I can't help but to notice that this Key Food is huge inside and very spacious. And here,the merchandiser stole the show as expected. This review is not on the merchandiser or how clean the store was. This review is on Matt in the deli. Matt's social skills are of the highest I have dealt with when it comes to customer engagement. His customer service skills are trademark level and he needs to be recognized. Now! You need to know why this review is focused on Matt. Matt saw me coming to the deli but what he did not know is that I had no intention to buy anything, I was just taking pictures and browsing. Had it not been for Matt's engagement with me I never would have purchased $27 and some change in this store today. I also would have continued to be a window shopper, continuing to investigate for future purchases and knowledge, also a visual exploration, just to know where I can buy something to be able to tell someone else where they can purchase a certain product or food. Matt sold me on this particular store by providing me with information about the beef and gave me comparisons on other store brands. Matt's engagement held me in the store, voluntarily- I was gathering information and loving it. I stayed there long enough to eye those empanadas and finally gave in. Matt asked which empanada I preferred. I told him- beef. Matt's salesman instinct kicked in and he said good choice as he elaborated on the quality of the beef as he smiled and said that I made a good choice. I do realize they are different owners, but the umbrella name is Key Food, so maybe a little bit of continuity would be nice?
