So had to do a review after coming to this location . I was getting broccoli and I pulled out the first box which was all rotten and aplenty Shouldn't have even been on the shelves . A young guy curly hair new or not it doesn't matter I asked him " do you have anymore broccoli ?" He said "yes their is another one right behind there and make sure you put this box back there after" I said why would I put this box back if it's all rotten ?-- he then kept quite and kept working I understand that at 0915 you are in a rush to restock BUT the whole point of you working there is also to make sure you stock items that are fresh for purchasing, and not expired !! They need to do better . Managers need to observe and check behind these guys so they know to do better as well. read more

This place is really awesome and they have great prices! I usually find something new and fun every time I go. Also they have a great selection for making your own charcuterie board. UPDATE SPRING 2025: As at least one other person noted, there are NO SHOPPING CARTS!!! Shoppers are walking around with grocery bags to collect food to bring to the check-out. As before, the semi-fresh breads baked on premises is nice (quality is "good", not bad, not great), meats and produce also "good" and on par with Aldi. Prepared foods, from frozen to canned soups are generally a bit subpar. We tried a canned New England Clam Chowder and were disappointed. But any canned or frozen food that was a single item, ie not a prepared meal, was all average-good. Given the high cost of food today, I walk out of Lidle or Aldi having spend literally half of what the local Stop&Shop would have cost me. That is a huge savings and well worth the few issues. So I stick with my solid 3-star rating. read more

Bottom line, Needs More Carts I've been a loyal Lidl shopper for years, from the Lancaster, PA location to the newer stores in New York. The East Meadow store is a standout--clean, well-stocked, with clear aisles and, best of all, plenty of carts! It's a refreshing contrast to the East Rockaway location, which I visited on Tuesday at 12 PM (see photos). That store feels neglected: litter outside, overflowing garbage can, dead plants, and why are there like MAYBE 15 carts total for this entire store? It's so bad I've wondered if they're closing. Most staff at East Rockaway are friendly, though newer employees since May 2025 seem less engaged. When I asked about the carts last month, a kind employee suggested theft but we will have more in a week. Stealing 150-200 carts is not something I think is a reality but sure, if you say so... Weeks later, no new carts. The store's proximity and easy parking keep me coming back, but the issues are hard to ignore: frequent freezer leaks, blocked aisles, and restocking clutter. I wish they would step up their game but even as I write this I wonder, are they closing this location? read more

Store was clean and organized. The produce section wasn't too promising as it was Saturday at 8pm. They had a large selection of fresh made bakery items. Happy I found most things on my list at decent prices. They randomly had van leuween ice cream flavors and a great sale of ben and Jerry's. I enjoy the products available at lidl but the people who work at this particular location are so unpleasant.

What an interesting shopping experience. I like the unique items and brands that they carry. Their produce section could be a bit larger. Very convenient items such as a small jar of pesto sauce, and a quick Lidl pizza. Then one encounters random camping items in the middle isle. The layout would be better if there were a tad more space in this building. Grocery items at discount prices are always welcome. read more

There is a variety of foods and the employees are wonderful. I especially like a cashier who is always eager to help her customers. This Lidl opened up only 2 days ago. Security guard at entrance is super friendly, staff (most of whom worked at the former Best Market that had been on this site) is also friendly and helpful. Layout will take getting used to and aisles are pretty tight. A good part of the center of the store is dedicated to hardware items, and there is a section of "secret" sale items, mostly European products such as chocolate bars, artichokes, jellies, seasonings and more. Very nice nuts and dried fruit section and bakery items, a disappointingly limited yogurt section, pre-bagged fruit and deli items, not the best looking vegetables and, bottom line, it's clean, well-lit and offers unusual items not usually seen in the States. read more

I have been shopping at this location for awhile and was satisfied in the past but today I was extremely disappointed. Three meat items on sale were not available, produce section was sparse, and one section of the dairy case was completely empty. To add to this disappointment their prices seemed higher than usual. For example fish sticks used to be $3.99 now $5.15. Cashier said their delivery didn't come today. Hopefully it is just a fluke as going to a second grocery store to complete my list wont be happening. read more

Lidl consistently doesn't have what is listed in their flyer and does not provide rain checks. I was told "to come back later in the week" for the specials and they STILL weren't there. Also, empty cartons where food once was abound: no reg. potato chips, no cream cheese for example. Their constant closing/opening check-outs is also very annoying. If you hit them at the wrong you can be at the end of a long line. read more

We finally have a Lidl! I was super excited to check this place out. The staff are super welcoming and friendly. They are handing out free reusable bags and hosting a $500 giveaway. The store is a little chaotic, but obviously would be on opening week. The prices are fantastic and the store is organized and clean. I wouldn't say they have the best or biggest selection, but they have a few items I haven't seen in other stores that look really good. My family loves shopping at Lidl in East Rockaway, prices are great and the majority of their items are phenomenal. The self serve bakery area offers a large variety of delicious baked goods that are a lot cheaper than any bakery or supermarket. Produce overall is comparable to most supermarkets but the variety is somewhat limited. If you're looking for appetizers to create a charcuterie they have a large selection of cheeses and cured meats. I was raised in an Italian family where cured meats were a staple food and I was very surprised by the quality and taste. My only issue with Lidl is the freshness of their meats, non-frozen seafood, and their expiration dates on these items. Over the past few months we purchased salmon, pork ribs, and a pork butt several times. If we used these items within 1 day after purchase we didn't have any issues. 3+ days after purchase the meat and fish smelled terrible even though the expiration date was at least 7-10 days away. We've thrown away at least $85 worth of meat and fish from Lidl and I will never purchase these items again from them. I'm not sure if it's directly related to refrigeration within the local store or related to the chain and how they handle these items. Overall it's a great supermarket but stay away from their non-frozen meat and fish. read more

For some reason, I had believed Lidl would carry mostly its own brands, and a lot of German foods / brands, but the selection was more like a large gas station in any American city. Nearly half the store's space is dedicated not to food but to every kind of unrelated product. I rarely buy anything but food in a food store but at least in a typical supermarket, the things I don't want are simply inserted here and there. But to have almost half the store full of every kind of non-food item is something that makes no sense to me. And hey, it doesn't have to make sense to me but it is a factor in my never going back. The main reasons I will never go back are: 1. The prices were ok, on some items very good, but over all average to a little high 2. I only went once, so maybe other cashiers are better, but my cashier had headphones in that she never removed, and she either could not hear me or did not care, because when she said something I told her I could not hear her but she never looked up, never said another word and ignored me the three times I said, as nicely as possible, that I had not heard her. 3. The aisle that goes across the store, left to right, perpendicular to the other aisles, when I was there (end of Dec. 2023), was just wide enough for one cart to go through. So, when someone came in the opposite direction, we had a tough time finding a way for one of us to back up so the other could pass and this was enormously exacerbated by an employee, seemingly a manager, who was stocking water and despite seeing us, did not stop but took 3 or 4 minutes to finish stacking water and then said that I should be glad lest the water fall on my head. That made no sense - if he'd stopped stacking water the water he had stacked would be less, not more likely to topple over and despite seeing customers blocked in both directions, he not only continued what he was doing (i.e., blocking the already narrow aisle), but he never said a word to any of the customers he was blocking until he made the comment I mentioned after he was done. There are probably worse supermarkets but not much worse, and on top of it all, when you pull out of the lot, you exit onto Atlantic Avenue where you could have had an amazing view of the waterfront but instead are treated to the incredible eyesore Oceanside-East Rockaway apartments, sitting on the water, uglier than anything in either town before them, and then you turn onto Atlantic where people drive too fast, the LIRR stops all traffic whenever it goes past, and red light cameras will ticket you if you miss the light by even a second, which is why I have always avoided that street whenever possible, until I decided to check out Lidl. I will now go back to avoiding the whole area. read more

I was excited when I heard Lidl was coming to LI BUT then they opened..... I was a big fan of Best Market, I won't deny that, they always had great prices, good vegetables, the slowest deli counter in the country but the prices and quality were worth the wait. Going into any of the Lidl's on Long Island is a strange experience. Small, strange layouts, messy and no one seems too happy to be there. There are a few workers in the East Rockaway Lidl who stayed on from Best Market and you know they are from Best Market mostly because of their nasty or combative attitudes. One woman at the register yelled (yes, yelled) to not scan my QR code from the app while she was ringing things up....oook. When I inserted my credit card while she was ringing up she yelled again, "you can't put it in yet!!" Thinking this was an isolated incident I would return another day to view the same person being combative with another customer. I walked around for a few minutes until they opened a second register. Just today, I was rung up by a woman who made no eye contact, didn't acknowledge my "Hi, how are you doing?" and just in complete silence, rung me up and handed me my receipt. At least she didn't yell at me when I scanned the qr code and inserted my card 'early'. If there was a self checkout I would have used it over dealing with the BM Crew. I visit maybe once every 2 weeks. I don't see Lidl lasting another season on Long Island, certainly not in East Rockaway or Franklin Square. read more

I am so happy to have a Lidl in my area. The prices can't be beat. Usually a good selection. The product is really great and cheap. My only issue is that the cashiers are usually rude. They don't bag your groceries which isn't a problem but they don't give you any time to pack and the conveyer belt automatically moves every time u remove an item from the belt and crushes your groceries - my bread was crushed and my plant pot got broken and it was a big hassle. I love to do my shopping here. Super clean, easy to find what I need, never crowded and the staff is really helpful and friendly. Prices are great, decent selection of dairy free items for my lactose intolerant persons. They also have the most random assortment of items in the middle of the store that are interesting to say the least. You can't always find everything you need but some of the items we thought were particularly good were the Rastelli steaks, Lidl coffee, breakfast sausage and also the Lidl Geeek yogurt.
