It was a pleasure working with Lawrence and his team. They replaced our side and back fences and completely transformed our backyard. Lawrence is easy to communicate with, detail-oriented, and practical. He was always responsive, gave honest advice, and paid attention to every detail. The quality of their work is solid, and throughout the project we felt we could truly trust and rely on him. We love how our backyard turned out, and our family can finally enjoy the space. We highly recommend Lawrence and his team to anyone looking for quality work and someone they can truly count on! read more

I hired Green Construction Builders to replace my front fence, install a new driveway gate, and redo my driveway entirely. The existing fence had no curb appeal, a driveway gate that was too narrow and the driveway itself was a poorly sloped, crumbling concrete pad. The transformation is remarkable. From the outset, Lawrence was accommodating -- willing to delay the start date until I returned from an extended vacation without any fuss. Once work began, the demolition of the old fence and concrete driveway was completed with impressive efficiency. What could have been a drawn-out, disruptive process was handled quickly and cleanly. The level of detail throughout the work was equally impressive -- it's clear this is a team that takes pride in doing things properly. What stood out most, however, was the working dynamic. I had suggestions along the way and they were received without dismissiveness or impatience -- but the team also kept things grounded, offering practical solutions rather than just agreeing with everything I said. That balance of receptiveness and professionalism is harder to find than it should be. I would recommend without reservation working with Lawrence and his team for any similar project. read more

Great company to work with. We've done large and small jobs from complicated to simple and the team at Green are always fast and reliable with very reasonable prices that work with my budgets. Definitely recommend. read more

Lawrence not only does the job well but has a great eye for design, like an artist that can both conceive an idea and execute it well. We love that he's a straight shooter that does not cut corners. He gives the pros and cons of different project materials that serve a short- or long-term timeframe. Recently, we were affected by the heavy rains and Lawrence responded immediately and helped resolve the issue the same day. There are many landscapers out there but to be able to talk to someone that responds fast, gives you no BS, and has a keen eye, well that is a rare thing. He is certainly the one you want to call first for any landscaping job in the BA. read more

I hired Lawrence and his team to help with a front and back yard remodel. Our budget was pretty limited, so we didn't expect much. We mainly wanted to make the front and backyard look clean and low maintenanace. We told Lawrence our plan and let him decide what to do with the yards. To our surprise, he completely transformed the yards to a beautiful and very usable space. We were beyond surprised after he completed it since we only expected it to look "clean", and instead, the space is great for entertainment and hosting! We were so happy to let him take charge and guide us through the process. Super communicative and works efficiently within our timeline and budget. We couldn't have been happier with the entire process and outcome. Check out the before and after photos! Highly highly recommend Lawrence and his team. read more

Just like one of the other recent reviewers, I don't know where to begin when providing compliments for Lawrence and Green Construction Builders. From initial texts/calls before even starting work, continuing through the job as work progressed, and all the way to the end of the job, Lawrence was extremely responsive. When evaluating our backyard for the deck I wanted built, Lawrence caught nearly every detail that would ensure the deck would be built properly and of the highest standards. There was additional work they had to do that was unforeseen during his initial evaluation, but Lawrence had his team take care of it without hesitation or too much additional cost over the agreed estimate. He provided valuable suggestions leveraging his expertise to help me make decisions on materials, design, workarounds, etc. In the end, we have a fantastic new backyard deck that should last us decades, in addition to other upgrades that we brainstormed on the spot that make the new deck even more enjoyable. I could not recommend Lawrence and Green Construction more. read more

This is our second time using Lawrence, Kong & team to remodel our home as we had a great experience and were very satisfied with our first project. We especially loved the tile work in the bathrooms. The team was professional and helpful. They always cleaned up before they left for the day. Lawrence was also very responsive, gave us a lot of good advices and helped us pick a beautiful quartz sink with double faucets for our master bathroom as our space was a bit tight for a double-sink. Lawrence's team also did an amazing work on our flooring and helped us replace the old non-functional fireplace with an electrical one. His team totally transformed our townhouse to something more luxurious and the price for the whole project was very reasonable. Highly recommended!! We will definitely use this team again in the future. Thank you Lawrence and team! read more

Highly recommend Green Construction without reservation. Nearly 20 years ago, Lawrence and I met when he bid on exterior paint and tree pruning services for a SF rental. The quality of his work was exemplary then and over the years, I've called him back to help maintain the front tree and, most recently, repair a shared downed fence. Lawrence and his team have always delivered on their word, by providing expert results at very reasonable pricing. My new neighbor, who advised that the fence was leaning, initially got bids 3-4x more than the price Lawrence charged and was very pleased with the repair work done to our shared fence. read more

I don"t know where to begin to compliment Green Construction Builder"s (GCB) work. So I'm not surprised to see several 5 stars. Lawrence was great in communicating, understanding and responsive to various questions. His expertise, patience and suggestions on what works and why are very helpful to make informed decisions. His team turned our dying yard into a sight to behold with beautiful modernized planters, plants, river rocks, landscaping lights, replacement fencing, irrigation etc. and the team was efficient to ensure daily cleanup at end of the day. Thereafter, we have received lots of compliments from random people and neighbors in awe. I have no doubt we would hire Lawrence/team again and would proudly refer GCB to our friends in the future. read more

We are beyond satisfied with how Lawrence and his Team transformed our backyard. From a hot jungle mess to a backyard masterpiece, we literally have the best looking yard in the entire neighborhood (Thanks to Lawrence). Lawrence was referred to us by a friend and he was very communicative from day one. His team was very efficient and completed the transformation faster than I expected. You need to see the before and after photos. We trusted Lawrence with his expertise and really allowed him to guide us, I'm so happy we went with all of his suggestions. We now get to enjoy our home even more, my little one loves it the most now. I HIGHLY recommend Lawrence and his Team! He's in high demand, so you might need to get on his waitlist. read more

I was just going to have the fence replaced, and the cracking cement in the back yard repaired. However, when I saw the meticulous, creative, and beautiful work that Lawrence and his team do, I asked them to work on other upgrades as well: The patio area was flagstoned; a beautiful Zen Garden was created; a stylish galvanized iron gate fabricated; the front stairs repaired with porcelain tiles; the garage painted & flooring installed with rubber tiles; new toilet installed in the bathroom; stone countertop, sink, faucet, & dishwasher installed in the kitchen. Instead of trying to describe the excellent quality of their work, I am posting several photos. Their clean up at the end of each day was admirable, and their fees were reasonable for the superb job that was done. I will definitely be calling on them again for future projects. read more

Lawrence and his team did an amazing job on our backyard. I like that he's a contractor that has a lot of experience with backyards and he's also able to do the plants/trees for landscaping. PRICING: The quote was very fair. I had quoted a couple of other backyard contractors and Green Construction Builders came in the middle. Lawrence called out all of the materials costs separately. He gave me an estimate but called out that prices for things like wood to fluctuate so it's hard to estimate exactly. There are many materials to think about (wood, pebbles, cement truck labor and materials, artificial grass, wood chips, railing etc) DETAILED: Green Construction Builders had great attention to detail. I had a landscape architect do the drawings and Lawrence called out some things that we could not build based on the drawings. Instead of going back and forth with the architect, he worked with me to figure out an updated solution. The issue was we could not build cement planters right up against our carport or the moisture would seep thru to the carport and rot the wood. He showed me how we could adjust the plan and we were happy with the updates. QUALITY: Lawrence and his team go above and beyond. Not only did they build us a beautiful backyard, but the quality of the work was amazing. The deck railing was tricky with the angles and different landings, but he made it work. He also did little things like painted the edges of deck wood pieces to keep them from rotting and added a water proof material under the deck to prevent wood rot too. TIMING: His timing was on schedule as he originally quoted, but the 2 things he needed to schedule that were out of his control were what pushed our project out a bit. Scheduling the concrete truck to align with the project schedule took some time. Getting a custom railing took about 12 weeks which was a long time. We were fine with waiting and had the back yard done and just were careful without a railing for a bit. I would definitely work with Lawrence and hist team again for future projects! read more

Just finished our project working with Lawrence and I have nothing but positive reviews. Besides being highly satisfied with the quality of work, it was very easy to communicate with Lawrence and his team. Some of the attributes I look for when it comes to hiring professionals in working on my home are: responsiveness, expertise suggestions, and ease of communication. All of which Lawrence possesses. We had 2 other landscapers come out, give us a quote and relay ideas but it was Green Construction who truly executed from start to finish. Very happy with the work! You won't regret it. read more

My husband and I hired Lawrence, Kong, and their team this summer to be our contractors to oversee our home renovations in San Francisco for a primary bathroom gut/remodel, kitchen remodel, wood floor installation on our stairs and downstairs level, and a few minor additional projects (e.g., drywall/door replacement, recessed TV mount). Overall, we had a great experience working with them and would highly recommend Green Construction Builders. Specifically, there were a few things that stood out: 1. High quality output: Lawrence and team take pride in their work and the output shows - their craftsmanship is very high quality for value and even minor details were closely considered and cared for. For example, our kitchen countertop has a large (wide/long) peninsula that other contractors might have required multiple stone slabs to construct, but Lawrence's stone vendor was able to cut, transport, and install the peninsula countertop in one slab despite it taking several more hours to get the slab into our home and installed (vs. if we cut this section into multiple pieces). The mitered edges on the waterfall also look seamless, which makes a huge difference and gives a clean and elegant look overall. 2. Efficient work ethic: As with any construction project, there were unexpected issues that arose with each phase. In each instance, Lawrence and his team always tried to mitigate delays by proposing alternative solutions or having an extra person come onsite to finish the job on time. In addition, whenever Lawrence gave us an ETA on when something would be completed, he delivered on these deadlines, which gave us great confidence in his team to get the job done right and on time. Our entire project from start to finish took 4 months, which, given the size of the job, is impressive. 3. Trustworthy and respectful demeanor: I am not a particularly trustworthy person, but Lawrence and his entire team gained my complete trust and respect with the way they operated. They always knock and take off their shoes before entering, they were always mindful of our space (especially the space they weren't working on), and they were always so polite and communicated with patience and respect, even when things were stressful. My husband and I were on vacation multiple times throughout this project and didn't think twice about letting Lawrence and his team, as well as his vendors, enter and continue working, which is saying a lot in San Francisco! In sum, we're thrilled with how everything turned out and are so grateful that it was all finished by October. We will definitely be using Green Construction Builders again! read more

We've worked with Lawrence for a few years now. We started with our yard in 2017, then did our bathroom in 2018, and our garage in 2020. Lawrence has great vision, attention to detail, and workmanship. Most of all, we trust him! Lawrence transformed the exterior of our home. We hadn't taken great care of our yard since we moved in. We have an older, traditional San Francisco home, and Lawrence modernized it with new fencing over our backyard and side yard, low water plants, dry pebble creek, irrigation system, lighting, concrete platforms, extended driveway, and trench drainage. What we appreciated most was how proactive he was. For example, before he cemented our driveway, he noticed we still had old terracotta pipes leading to our home (probably 80+ years old) and he replaced them with newer pipes before he laid the concrete so we wouldn't have to eventually break up our new driveway. He made our yard usable, enjoyable and long-lasting, and we couldn't be happier! In 2018, we redid our master bathroom to maximize our space-- new cabinetry, double sink and tiling. Lawrence put a lot of thought into the remodel, often sending ideas for layout and design. And he was very patient with me when I sent over my crazy ideas. We eventually chose a layout his wife came up with and it worked perfectly! Our bathroom now feels open, modern and functional! We updated our garage in 2020. It was dark, damp and dingy-- and rodents would pop in for a visit every now and then. It was not a place I wanted to spend any time in; let alone store additional food or supplies. We called Lawrence and his guys over to help make the space feel like it was part of our home. They added insulation, closed up the walls with plywood, sheet rocked the ceiling, added a sink, installed new lighting, redid the electrical, and epoxy-ed our floors. We LOVE our garage now! My husband added some cabinets and shelving-- and the whole space feels so much brighter, cleaner and usable. We can store SO much now without the worry of any rodents chewing up our things. We love working with Lawrence and his team! read more

Green Construction Builders - Backyard Work - Landscaping Near Me

Words are not enough to compliment Green Construction Builders (GCB) work and no wonder they deserve 5 star reviews! Lawrence is responsive, flexible, understanding of your needs, brainstorms ideas based on his expertise and very patient with potential changes as the project progressed. His team had worked on our family members yard, so I knew GCB's work was breathtaking. The team transformed our ugly dry lawn and overgrown bushes into a beautiful front yard with drought resistance plants, hand made wooden planter boxes (matching new fencing), river rocks (no water), square concrete walkway, nighttime landscape lights, wood fencing, galvanized gate frame (by an iron expert) etc. They clean up efficiently, i.e. sweep, put away equipment etc. after every workday. Subsequently, we have been receiving several "beautiful" compliments from people passing by as well as neighbors for our modernized yard. We are still in awe by the 360° transformation. I would definitely hire them again for future projects on my bucket list. Thank you very much Lawrence from your ecstatic customer. read more

Our 1906 home is uphill from the sidewalk, so there was a 4 foot retaining wall at the sidewalk to hold the front yard in place which began to crack after 100 years due to street tree roots. Lawrence and his team tore out the old wall (fortunately very old roots held the soil in place) , and replaced it while preserving the front yard planting. When a drain in our rear yard clogged with sand, he cleared it out and replaced the drain, A few years later he replaced and stained the cedar shingle siding on our high 2 story house. He was extremely responsive and efficient in all the work. Lawrence has a great attitude. He is reasonable, thorough and always leaves a clean work area and a happy client. We highly recommend him and Green Construction for any job. read more

We have been in our home for over 10 years and always wanted to redo the backyard. Over the years, we met with 3 landscape contractors with a range of ideas and quotes. Eventually, we came to find Lawrence through friends whose yard he did. Green Construction Builders was the perfect combination of creative ideas and cost. Even with inflation over the last 10 years, the quote came in less than the prior ones we received. And the quality of the work has been exceptional. It's been a couple months since completion of our project and we couldn't be happier with the results. Scope of work: 1) Re-grading of backyard. Involved moving truckloads of dirt around the yard. 2) concrete retaining walls on all sides of yard. 3) Fences on all sides of yard. 4) Pavers along path in backyard. 5) Creation of outdoor patio space. 6) Planting, irrigation, and lighting. 7) New side gates. 8) Electrical outlets. Throughout the process, Lawrence went above and beyond to exceed expectations. He's thoughtful, insightful, calm, and communication was always clear. His advice on decisions regarding materials, patterns, plants, etc were always right. On the one occasion that I asked for a herringbone paver pattern against his advice, it looked terrible. I felt awful telling him but he acknowledged it looked busy, suggested a different pattern, re-set it to allow me to compare the two, and then redid the whole path. It was very patient and I didn't go against his advice after that. As noted in other reviews, Lawrence and his team are incredibly efficient as well. In spite of the rains, things happened in a timely way even as the scope of the project expanded. I couldn't recommend Green Construction Builders more highly. I've heard the saying that with construction, you get to choose 2 of speed, cost, and quality. With Lawrence and his team, you get all 3. read more

I discovered Green Construction when I saw a neighbor's new fence door and asked for their contractor's info. Lawrence was quick to respond and was able to basically replicate what I saw my neighbor had. I tried getting quotes for the same type of fence last year, but either the other fence companies stated it wasn't suitable for the ground layout I had, or it would cost an astronomically high amount. Anyhow, I wish I took before pictures of our dragging fence gate on both left and right sides (both have had to get repaired over the past 12 years about half a dozen times), but I'll post the after pic soon. Price was reasonable as Lawrence explained how quotes can get extremely high if given some of the "cosmetic add on" options, which I was never told was optional and would not affect the performance or longevity of the gate. The only cosmetic add on I chose was to paint the wood. Would definitely use him again and maybe next time for some inside jobs. read more
