Utilizing the existing brick walls, the interior layout is creative with all sorts of art. Their location is their luckiest part as it consistently draws steady footprints. It thus gets packed in a few seconds. It offers (firstly) coffee based drinks. It does have a kitchen where they make more than just pastries and the like. It's definitely more than a simple coffee shop for sure. Service, however, was quite basic. The lady upfront smiled but hesitantly. She wasn't rude but I simply didn't feel welcome. Hence describing their current customer service system or skills as "good" might fuel their egos (wow, did I really say that?? LOL!!) My quad latte was decent/good. I could have done less espresso shots as it sure was strong or too strong (this wasn't their fault; it was mine.) Yes, in conclusion, the shop can and should refine its service (upping it one more level might draw solid raves from the people). Well. This was my second visit to Thump Coffee within a week. I rarely leave a one-star review; in fact, I generally prefer to leave positive reviews when a business provides a good experience. Unfortunately, today's experience was disappointing enough that I feel it is worth bringing to the owner's attention. I arrived at approximately 3:50 p.m. and ultimately left at 4:21 p.m. because of the closing procedures taking place around me. At approximately 4:15 p.m., a staff member began vacuuming the wood floors and moving chairs around the tables. I was sitting at one of the longer tables and initially assumed she was simply spot-cleaning. However, she continued vacuuming throughout the area and eventually began moving chairs around the table where I was sitting. As she got closer to me, I asked if she needed me to move. I was sitting near the wall and was trying to stay out of her way. She responded, "Oh no," and indicated that I could remain seated. She then moved to the opposite side of the table and continued vacuuming around me. I eventually asked what time the establishment closed, and she told me 5:00 p.m. I was surprised, particularly because it was only around 4:15 p.m. and there were still approximately 20-25 customers inside or around the establishment. I had just spent $16.86, including a 20% tip, and was there studying for my pilot's exam. I understand that employees need to complete closing duties and prepare the establishment for the end of the day. However, beginning those duties nearly 45 minutes before closing--particularly vacuuming around customers who are actively working, studying, or conducting business--made the experience uncomfortable and gave the impression that customers were being encouraged to leave before closing time. I would encourage management to consider scheduling or sequencing closing tasks in a way that does not interfere with customers who are still actively using the space. A coffee shop's atmosphere is a significant part of the experience, and having a vacuum running around customers while they are working or studying can be quite disruptive. On a positive note, the coffee and food are solid, which is why I was happy to return for a second visit within the same week. I hope the business takes this feedback in the constructive spirit in which it is intended. I would like to see Thump continue to provide a welcoming experience for customers through its posted closing time. Best wishes.
