I'm on a horse! Wow, I always thought that even the basics of riding a horse would require a lot of instruction and practice; but within about 10 to 15 minutes I was up in the saddle and knew how to successfully guide my steed to proceed forward, go faster, slow down, and turn left or right. Our group had about 10 amateur riders for a relatively mellow 75 minute trail ride. We also had 3 experts who took the front, back and middle of our line. The pros at Green Acres (and extremely well trained horses) made the ride feel very controlled, which really allowed everyone to enjoy the experience. The ranch is located very close to several wineries, but I'd recommend saving the tastings for AFTER the ride! read more

If you are in Temecula on a getaway, I highly recommend taking a trail ride at Green Acres. My fiancé and I escaped to Temecula for a three day getaway and I had purchased a voucher for horseback riding and wine tasting ... not really knowing what to expect, but thinking it sounded fun. It was. Finding the ranch was not really difficult, you just have to pay attention so that you don't miss the sign. Someone else's review below makes it sound super easy to miss, but it isn't. We got there a little early because we were prepared for it to be difficult. But we wound up happy to be there a little early because it gave us a chance to look around. There were kids in a ring getting riding lessons, a pen of llamas (so weird and wonderful), a ring with two adorable young colts in it, and plenty of other things to look at. It's a working ranch with trainers training their horses to do a number of things from jumping, cattle wrangling, etc, so there was a lot going on all around. Our trail guides (Sarah & Nicole) were both fantastic--very friendly and informative. They took us on a beautiful ride that provided some incredibly gorgeous views of wine country. It was one of those experiences that just makes you breathe deeply and relax. At a certain point, they had us stop at a particularly gorgeous point overlooking the land and then gave everyone a chance to have their pictures taken. I thought that was a really thoughtful touch. My fiancé and I enjoyed ourselves immensely and consider this a highlight of our trip. We just happened to pick one of the hottest days on record--so even though we had a 9am trail ride, it was still insanely hot. We enjoyed it so much despite the heat, but I imagine the fall would be even better! A note for those (like myself) who don't "ride" often or at all ... be sure to bring something to tip your guides. I didn't and I was mortified. It's one of those things that is easy to just not consider if you don't do this sort of activity at all, but just like any service industry, tips are appreciated. Came here as part of a groupon deal for my first time horseback riding. After a long week of partying and a day full of wine tasting this was seriously the most picture perfect endings to a weekend I've been a part of. I chose the later (6PM) riding session to avoid the heat and catch a more scenic / dusk ride. Coleen and her husband Kevin(? sorry, if this is incorrect) were amazing guides and super friendly. I had a blast learning about their lives, the estates that surround the area, and of course their wonderful jobs. I got to ride Ames and my gf rode Molly. These horses I was told are pretty old (20+) and are retired after having been in competition and sports when they were younger so they are very well mannered, and trained. Its funny how horses can pick up if you are new or not, I swear mine kept looking back at me and thought, "You are new huh?" Haha. Still, the hour ride was very enjoyable and easy and I loved every minute of it. I'd recommend coming here if you were interested in riding. read more

I kindaaa thought we'd be horseback riding to a vineyard and drinking (which now that i think about it, sounds dangerous..idk if that counts as drinking and driving) but it ended up being a 75 min ride with wine vouchers given at the end for 2 local vineyards.The guides were really nice and understanding towards horse riding noobs such as myself and it was an overall awesome experience! My husband took me here for my birthday (and wine-tasting afterward) and we both LOVED it. Lovely ranch with plenty of room to ride and beautiful scenery. I've been riding my entire life, and my husband is a bit of a "beginner" - the staff did a great job of making all skill levels feel comfortable and explained everything thoroughly prior to the ride. Lauren and Nicole were our guides; they were both funny and sweet and you could tell they knew what they were doing. They stopped halfway through the trail ride and took pictures with everyone's phones, which we really appreciated. We have some great pics to commemorate the trip. Our horses were well-behaved and calm, perfect trail ride horses. We drove 2 hours to get there, but it was totally worth it. I definitely recommend Green Acres...we had such an awesome day. I can still smell the horses (that's a good thing) and will cherish the memory. Hopefully we will be back with our son when he's old enough! read more

The staff were knowledgable and pretty professional. As for the ride itself i've been on better. Bought the hour trail ride and was told to arrive 30 minutes early which we did and did not start the actual ride until 15 minutes after the scheduled time. Ride last 35 minutes including time we stopped to take pictures ride was not very interesting and very very short. For the same price Susie Q Ranch was much longer and better ride. I enjoyed the experience but would not recommend due to ride being so short. read more

the mister took me here for valentine's weekend and it was a wonderful idea!! i love horseback riding... something i haven't done since i was in my early teens and i didn't realize how much i missed this old past-time until this day! the venue was a lil tricky to find, but it could be due to our car navigation system... definitely drive cautiously and keep your eyes open for signs and driveway entrance. once you're on the lot, there are signs to guide you everywhere... we had no problem finding the trail check-in spot. the ladies on staff that afternoon were super friendly and helpful. they provided instructions on how to steer your horse and warned us with what to expect during the trail ride... possible issues that might surface and how to handle them which made us all feel very comfortable. before you depart for your trail ride, you'll have to sign a release waiver and they also give you the option to wear a helmet. i opted not to wear a helmet for all the wrong reasons, but fortunately i didn't need it. we got real lucky and picked the perfect day for a ride... the sun was out and the skies were clear. you can feel the warm heat from the sun but just when you felt you were burning, a big fluffy cloud would hide the sun for a minute and a nice flowy breeze would pass by and cool you down. just perfect. the trail itself was peaceful... everyone was caught in silence for a brief moment just enjoying the view, the ride, and nature. the horse i was paired with was very calm and well trained. she knew this trail well and knew just where to go. if the horse ahead of her stopped, so did she... and when the horse ahead of her began to walk, she did too! cool! my horse was on auto-pilot!! not once did i have to give her a kick to get moving or pull on her rope to steer her in the right direction. she does like to tailgate, so i often pulled back on her to slow down. she was very obedient and gentle. everything about this day went smoothly... great location, great staff, and beautiful and hard-working horses... thanks for making our valentine's day horseback ride a memorable one green acres!! read more

We go horse back riding at least once a year. I've been going for 30 years. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had. They put us on horses that dont get along. They were nipping at each other the entire ride. They told me my horse doesnt like Male horses yet had a Male directly behind her. She was constantly trying to look behind us, waving her tail all over the place, grunting and even kicked behind us a couple of times. The ride was not relaxing at all. The saddles were the most uncomfortable saddles my husband and I have ever sat in. To make matters worse as we were leaving there was a sheep that was hobbling along with a severely broken leg. My daughter was pretty distraught after seeing that. The staff was nice but not very professional and the ride itself is just around the ranch. Not very exciting or pretty. Not a place I'd ever visit again or recommend. . read more

What a great place! I signed my daughter up for camp and she is completely in love with this place! Super great summer camp program that has a great balance of activities. They do horse riding, crafts and swimming. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They set the program up where kids that are in an "internship" program help other campers. It makes it very comfortable for the kids in camp.(especially older ones, my daughter is 13) I would highly recommend GA camp. We are starting lessons next and I'm sure those will be great as well. read more

We did the 1 hour trail ride for two at 7 am. Although I had to wake up at 5 to get there on time it was well worth it being able to avoid the Temecula heat. The staff was super friendly. The grounds were beautiful surrounded by mountains. I was worried that alot of the time was going to be spent on teaching us how to ride but that took 5 mins. My friends and I bought a Groupon for a trail ride with wine tasting. We were asked to be there at 10:30am. We were pulling up and right at 10:30am we got a call that our ride was cancelled. They said they were cancelling it due to the weather( it was a little windy by SoCal standards and a light mist). They said for our safety and for the horses they had to cancel. We couldn't argue with that so we had to just so ok and leave. However, we called a bunch of other ranches and no one else was cancelling, and we were able to book at 1:00pm ride with another ranch....so it seemed kind of shady that they cancelled due to the weather. We were very disappointed with the lack of notice that we received and what appears to be poor judgment regarding the cancelling. They said they would help us to get refunded by Groupon, so hopefully that will go more smoothly and earn them the 1 star! read more

We called the ranch based on the reviews here and the various classes they offered for my daughter to take riding lessons. My husband signed her up for a test class and it went wonderfully! She loved it and loved the instructor. I called the following day to confirm her spot and pay for the remaining sessions. I spoke with Marcia in the office who informed me that there wasn't an available spot in that class but she would speak with Kendra to doublecheck and then call me back. I never heard from her so I called her back 2 days later. She admitted that she had forgotten to ask and couldn't find my information. I re-explained everything and asked again if she was able to find out if my daughter had a spot in the class. She said that since she still hadn't spoken with Kendra she'd have to call me back. It's been over 2 weeks and I haven't heard a word from them. Needless to say, I'm astounded that they would ignore a paying potential customer and upset because my daughter was looking forward to starting her lessons. read more

I purchased 2 trail rides as a present to my cousin and was very disappointed in Green Acres for these main reasons: 1. We purchased a 2 hour ride, but our trail ride was only about 40 minutes long once we were done grooming and tacking up our horses (yes, they had us groom them. Growing up on a horse ranch, I'm not opposed to grooming my own horse, but please don't deduct it from our riding time). Although because of the other reasons below, I wasn't upset that our ride was cut short. 2. The trail ride itself was not scenic. We rode around their property, passing heaps of manure piles and average settings. We did not ride through vineyards or anything scenic. The most scenic part of our ride was when we rode along their neighbor's fence line. 3. We were instructed to ride in a line at a VERY slow walk. I saw the pictures on yelp of people riding side by side. When I tried riding beside my cousin, I was immediately told to get in the single file line. My cousin and I were the only 2 on the ride. The two guides and us. 4. There was absolutely NO trotting, let alone cantering. He had to ride behind the guide at, again, a slow walk. I'm sure a lot of people (at least a lot of people who visited my family's horse ranch) say that they're experienced when they are not, but within minutes you can tell if someone knows how to ride a horse. it was obvious we did. We grew up showing and jumping arabian horses. A slow walk in a single file line was NOT what we signed up for. Also to consider, this place does not do wine tasting stops while riding. They mention in a groupon they offers wine vouchers, but that's after the ride at a different facility. They do not allow wine tasting or any type of drinking on horseback. (not complaining about that, just an fyi as it's misleading). If you want to ride on a pretty trail, check out some other places that allow more fun. There are lots of places in the area that offer wine tasting, rides through vineyards, and the ability to actually ride beside your friend (shocking). Also to note, after the ride we were asked by a couple people in the office how our ride was. I was very honest and told them what I outlined here. They didn't seem to care our riding experience was not great. They simply replied that their insurance doesn't allow anything but a walk. Again, I grew up on a ranch with over 70 arabians, a horse track, show facilities, etc. I do not believe it was an insurance issue, as they have a training facility with riders doing more than walking. Maybe the trail ride was only walking, but we had asked if we could take a ride in their arena for just a few minutes to be able to do more than the slow walk. We also signed waivers. I don't believe this was not an insurance issue.... and if it was, then get better insurance if you're going to charge $75 to take people on a trail around your ranch. read more

I bought a trail ride package for 2 through Groupon for my boyfriend and I. He had no experience on a horse and this was a great place to learn. The guide was super nice and funny, she thoroughly knew the horses and their personalities which added a nice personal touch for the horse your paired with. The ranch was beautiful, well kept, and had pretty views. My only complaint is how short the ride is. I would recommend going in the morning, it gets really warm by 11am. I was visiting my sister and she asked if I would want to go horseback riding. It had been 40 years since I'd ridden so I was super excited. This place is great. Dogs, cats, cow, sheep, goats, chickens and horses. I was in my animal happy place!!!! The staff is very professional, but fun at the same time. We met our instructor, Shannon... She was THE best. My boyfriend and I visited Green Acres on Sunday, March 3 and I have to say it was definitely an enjoyable experience. We had purchased a $69 groupon deal that gave us a 75 minute trail ride, and were able to easily set up a time to do the ride. The guide who did the instructional time, Nicole, explained everything and led the front of the ride. The trails are beautiful and well planned out, it is a great area to experience nature. I only had two issues with the day, the first was the horse I was riding, "Skippy". It was clear from the beginning that he wasn't being cooperative since Nicole used him for the instruction time. I was the first to mount, and while I was waiting for the rest of the group to mount their horses "Skippy" was all over the place and refused to stand upright. He continued to shift his weight back and forth making it extremely uncomfortable for me. With the vast number of horses on the property I was disappointed that they didn't pull him and have me ride a more cooperative horse. This continued on the trail, and during the time we stopped for photos, "Skippy" decided that he was done waiting and tried to take off with me on him, while all three of the guides were socializing among themselves. I was also slightly frustrated because I wasn't able to enjoy conversation with my boyfriend as Nicole spoke for the majority of the 75 minutes to me since I was right behind her. I am all for friendly guides but I've had better experiences with other companies whose guides are friendly but not overly talkative. I would recommend Green Acres over some companies, but other companies over them. If you can get a deal on living social or Groupon then I say get it! But I wouldn't pay their full price for that experience again. read more

We took a trail ride on Saturday and it was such a beautiful day. Disappointing ride though. I wish I had read the reviews before booking. Laura our guide was very nice and Green Acres Ranch is beautiful. The ride lasted just about 42 minutes although we had signed up for 75 minutes. We walked slowly around their ranch. Their trail ride is for beginners and we were disappointed not to see some of the countryside in Temecula. I would imagine it is great for kids but not for adults with any kind of riding experience wanting a nice ride in the countryside for an hour and a half. read more

My husband and I had a Zozi deal for horseback riding and wine tasting, so we chose to redeem it on Valentine's Day, which was a scorcher....I think it was only in the upper 70's, but it seriously felt like 95 degrees under that hot sun! Anyway, we made it to Green Acres Ranch fairly easily. We followed the signs for the trail rides, and found a small barn with two friendly girls in it, who were our trail guides. They introduced us to our horses, gave a brief demo of how to get on and off the horse, how to "steer" the horse when on it, etc. I had ridden a couple of times before and found these horses to be the easiest in terms of not wandering off the trail...the horses seemed like they knew what they were doing! Haha. We had one trail guide in front of our line and one in the back (there were 6 of us customers in the group, 3 couples total). It was a pretty trail ride, I think about an hour and a half total. The actual trail was nice, but what was really pretty were the mountain views. At the top, we stopped and the guides took pictures for us, which was really nice. Be sure to tip them afterwards! They had our wine tasting coupons ready for us when it was time to leave, and the winery was just 5 minutes down the road. read more

Good place to board your horse, just make sure you're clear on your horse's needs. Mine wasn't being fed enough. Staff is usually rude and unhelpful. Trail guides are very friendly - definitely recommend the trail rides! Will never, ever put my horse into training with Roy Rich again. Very unfriendly, rude, difficult to work with. ben & i had horse back riding sessions here and made a little getaway out of it. we got to Temecula on Thursday night because we wanted to be nearby to make our Friday 8am session with the horses!! we drove down portola rd and I started feeling excited and beyond nervous at the SAME time! we followed another suv up a winding dirt driveway and we soon encountered cows dogs & HORSES!! we walked over signed some waivers, used the restroom, and got some lessons. we were given the opportunity to take a helmet but even though i am THE most giant chicken!!! my vanity got the best of me & I refused-to save my hair of course LOL...seriously we were given brief but extensive instructions on riding these beauty's and I wsa trying to remember the tips and directions the instructors were giving...hahaha im like left? pull? kick? CRAP but its just me i let everything get in my head and HELLO im accident prone I got RILEY a really pretty stallion and off our little team of 8 went on our journey....it was a GOOD path for a beginner and easy but thrilling in areas. I was so tense though my ass & lower back were in PAIN near the end. when we were returning I was actually disappointed it had to come to an end. there were few photo ops which i was excited about because I NEED PROOF i was on a HORSE! a REAL horse!! hahaha i love how easy they make it for newbies to enjoy riding and to take in the experience and I will DEFINITELY be back!!! read more
