I just called in to ask about my canola oil as I'm allergic to rapeseed. They advised the server that they used vegetable oil. When I stated that vegetable oil usually states in the ingredients (soybean, cottonseed, canola) and wondered which after several minutes a gentleman came to the phone and stated if you have allergies you shouldn't eat here. never answered my question just stated don't eat here. I'd love to tell you what my experience was but... it was not to be about the food. Walked in at noon today, Sunday. Place was crowded. We did not know protocol because we have never been there. Do we seat ourselves; do we wait? Let us know. 2 servers walked by us and never told us what to do. They just stared at us annoyed. So after a few mins we asked a server who told us to wait till a table is cleaned... but made no effort to clean it or say anything else. Then a customer told us they were out of eggs. Okay. I completely understand the staffing issues we are facing now. And I am ok with waiting. I have sympathy if there is only 2 servers and lots of customers. I will wait. I get it and I am ok. Here is my issue. You can be slammed and busy but don't be rude. There is no reason to be rude to customers or potential customers. I am from Ohio I have never eaten here and I probably won't ever again be by this place to eat there. But I would still be friendly and nice to people who walk into the establishment. If people are standing there to be seated I would say Welcome, here is what the protocol is, we appreciate your patience. We will be right with you. Or whatever... just be nice and say something upbeat. No reason to be a rude or not say anything at all. Any place of business first rule is be nice to customers. Came here for breakfast on a few occasions and was just your average breakfast fare. Nothing so special that it would have me riding to come back for more. I would say their omlettes and home fries are decent and the restaurant is clean and properly set up for COVID regulations. Have not tried their lunch menu yet. read more

First off I want to say this place is beautiful! Clean and charming! I'd give it a 10. My buddy and I were looking for a place to get something quick and we thought this would fit the bill. Upon walking in at 8:15 we were immediately told 3/4 of the items on the special board were unavailable. Ahhhh yea? Ok? Point values are dropping. I ordered a coffee which I looked at the menu... the coffee was absolutely tasteless! No lie! The flavor of hot water and that's it...points are dropping even quicker! Now I order the Mexican omelet- one of the things left on the specials board. Only to be told... oh you know what? I bet I'm outta the taco meat? My buddy just looked at me and started to laugh! Points dropping...dropping. Oh wait- I got some taco meat! Ok add a point. When the omelet came to the table it looked beautiful...see pic! And add a point... ohhh wait... the taco meat is burnt! And the sour cream on top is ICE COLD and has made that part of the omlete cold too! No, I didn't complain. No, I didn't send it back. I ate it so we could get the heck outta there and on the road. In all honesty because I leave nowhere close to this place I won't be back! On my 1-10 scale...this place ends at about a 4...all looks...NO taste! And yes, my buddy actually stopped at Horton's so I could get a real coffee! NOTE: the buddy I was with just texted me saying I was pretty harsh here and didn't mention that the place just opened and the gal was waiting tables, cooking and serving. I've been living in this area for many years but haven't tried out this cafe until last year. Each time I've gone, I have never been completely satisfied with my meals. I am a big breakfast person and I know what is good and what isn't. Their pancakes are hit or miss. I've had really good pancakes and I have had soggy ones as well. Yet, I do like their maple syrup. Although they make many kinds of omelettes, I can't say I have had a delicious one. Their home fries (I love potatoes) are average at best. My friend had ordered the Paul's Breakfast Skillet and was not satisfied by the portion of it and the flavor. If you are in the area, try Spragues Maple Farms for breakfast. Spragues is more expensive than this place but worth it. read more

Tried to go here for the first time. Sign said please wait to be seated. Waitress came up and said just let me clean this table for you. Another waitress came up and said sorry we're at capacity. I thought she was talking to the couple behind me but when I turned around I saw some rude couple took the table that was being cleaned for me. My boyfriend and I like to make special trips here every now and then for breakfast. On our most recent trip we went around 1pm and it didn't really go as planned. I took a minute deciding between a fresh baked cinnamon roll or their LA French toast. I chose the cinnamon roll and sausage biscuits and gravy. My boyfriend got eggs bacon toast and an order of corn beef hash I believe. I overheard the waitress call to the cook that there was no more fresh baked cinnamon rolls! Now if I would have been spoken to about it I would have definitely chosen the la french toast. However instead the waitress brought to me a "grilled cinnamon roll". I wish I had a picture but I just got Yelp. It looked like they grabbed a cinnamon roll cut it in half cooked it real quick on the grill, put icing on it and a little pumpkin. Cute. Not what I wanted. I know what they actually look like. There are pictures from other reviews on yelp. My boyfriend also didn't like his corn beef hash, his comments were " I wonder if the cook is losing his touch ". Also the waitress never came back around to refill my coffee for my meal. read more

Saw good reviews about this place and wanted to try it, HUGE MISTAKE! Walk in the door and they yell where you can sit. No greeting what so ever. Waitress that took our order was very rude and clearly annoyed. She didn't let my husband finish his order before she started walking away. Food came quickly but it was horrible! Scrambled eggs were the consistency of plastic, toast was hard and cold. The coffee was good but the waitress did pour it on my husband's hand when she did a refill. Never said a word about it. The floor had not been swept in probably days. As for Covid contamination ... probably high risk. This is mine and my families favorite restaurant in town. This is the first place my son suggests when we want to go out to breakfast. Vickie is always wonderful with us and has most of our order memorized. They really make you feel welcomed. On Sundays they are really busy so expect a wait and sometimes the wait staff get a little flustered but they always pull through and give us a wonderful meal. There is outdoor seating available, but we always prefer to sit inside because of the atmosphere. This is definitely a must for anyone coming into town. read more

Stopped in one Monday afternoon and got 'Paul's breakfast skillet.' Fried eggs and toast were absolutely delicious, as was the coffee. The skillet also comes with homefries; which many others have complained about, but they seemed plenty good to me! Either way, the welcoming and sweet staff make up for any bad occurences which may occur (even on busy Sunday mornings). I have eaten there a few times and will continue it is a down home restaurant! The food far exceeds what you would expect. My husband and I took my sister and her husband and they said it was one of the best fish fries they ever had. I would have to concur! It's not only delicious it's a lot. The staff is very kind and helpful not to mention right on the ball if you need anything. I would also like to mention that it is very clean and has homemade pies! Yum yum! Exactly what we were looking for right off 86. Clean neighborly cafe with a touch of nostalgia including glass covered pies at the counter. Seating at the counter, booths, or tables available. Nice offering of breakfast items and good coffee. The cooking is done in the open, giving it a welcome diner-feel. The scrambled eggs with ham, wheat toast, pancakes, and bacon dishes were very good. I ordered a cheese omelet with salt risen toast and home fries; my company ordered a breakfast sandwich on a bagel with home fries... 1 coffee, 1 soda.. Had breakfast here this morning after reading the review that it was the best breakfast in Olean. I ordered a Greek omelet and it was burnt and the smallest omelette I've ever had. The home fries were raw. The toast was the best part. I will never go here again and would not recommend it for breakfast. Clean place with good service, just don't go for the food. read more

This is the best place in town for breakfast! It's bustling with locals on the weekends! Excellent homemade food. Omelets, skillets, waffles, pancakes, french toast and unique Sunday specials every week! I love the sausage gravy and biscuits and the hash is the best ever! Lunch is also great!
