Wow! I thought the half way inn was the best wings in the area until I had wings at the 3rd base! Our minds are blown! It's more of a cozy friendly dive bar without a nice view like halfway inn, but the halfway in wings, fries, and staff don't hold a candle to 3rd base! The wait staff and management at 3rd base are what make it a Cheers type vibe. Don't sleep on it or be fooled by the unassuming outside. The place is dated, but very clean, fast, super welcoming, exceptional at what they do, a well oiled machine, and delicious! We found this place looking online for ribs. We checked the Yelp reviews & decided to try it. So glad we did!! Excellent pizza, wings(garlic butter Parmesan & Daryl's mild sauce), Philly Cheesesteak sub, & an order of ribs & French fries. Our waiter was also the bar keeper & he was phenomenal. Placed order at 8:24 at 8:50 we find out another table's food wasn't even put in to the kitchen so after inquiring ours wasn't either. I was told 8 minutes at 8:51.. 9:04 we got our food. Food was amazing.. unfortunately bar keep and potentially two owners at bar should have known we were waiting an incredibly long time for food.. tell me 8 minutes when I waited almost 30 minutes.. hello?! I ordered some butter garlic parmesan wings (BGP) and they weren't the best I've had. I mean they were ok and cooked well but it lacked seasoning and I'm wondering if that was intentional. If so, that's a healthy thing but put a disclaimer on it. Now, the joint in Jamestown, their BGP wings have a heaping amount of garlic on them; here, there was more of the parmesan. I supposed I could just buy an order of each and mix 'em up to be satisfied...NOT! Anyway, they were very nice and friendly here so I'm definitely going to give them another try. While in the area I stopped at 3rd Base Bar & Grill. It comes as described, a classic comfortable local Olean dive bar and on top of that it has to be one of the premier Olean NY sports bars. Really excellent wings, nice selection of beers, enough TV's to easily watch games, and to top it off an opportunity to shoot pool. For the cost of a pizza and wings in Ellicottville we got so much food. Actually cheaper. Our whole bill was 55 bucks, compared to the 65 back home. 10 Cajun Wings {wet}: Really interesting. Hot sauce mixed with dried spices. Crispy. I liked these very much. Cajun Fries {wet}: For to go next time I'd order them dry as our trip home made for soggy fries. But a reheat in the oven and those were spicy tasty potatoes. 20 Breaded Wings Hot: My husband loves breaded wings. He has been on the hunt since it's very hard to find any place around us that does them. He was thrilled with these. Ate them all at once. Fried Green Beans: Umm, this is how I think all beans should be if they aren't wok tossed. Fried Brownie Bites: Hot chocolate love. Who wouldn't like these? Never in my life have I experienced such a disgusting dining outing. Food was okay, slow. However the conversations being had at the bar, between all staff and some customers were obscene and extremely racist. I've never felt so uncomfortable sitting and dining due to how atrocious their language, conversation, and racism were. This was also a Sunday evening. I will never step foot in here nor will I let anyone I know step foot in here. I'm unbelievably appalled by the experience. The back door is open so while you're there you get all the 2nd hand smoke one could ask for. Same thing when you walk in the front, a bunch of smokers blowing junk in your face. I am originally from Buffalo and I must say 3rd Base Bar & Grill does have superior Wings, I have had several different flavors and all have been great on a number of differdrent nights. I am a Chef and have prepared wings all around the country.Usually making the classic Franks and butter combo. But their are 20-25 unique varaities out there now and 3rd Base does several very well or even superior to everyone else in the City. Debbie and the rest of the lovely Waitress and Bartender staff are great host of this Sports bar. They have two blillyard tables which are active all night long. For Yankee fans you will find your Team the 27 Time World Champions well represented. We also had fried onion petals were cooked to order n were crisp and very tasty. When I was there last time as D.D. I was treated well n drank blueberry Red Bull. other nights I enjoyed a great variety of brews. Thanks as alway forlistening.
