First impressions when i first walked in was that the bar was full of regulars. There was open mic night happening which was cute, but after that first introduction it went down hill from there, fast.
I went with a group of friends, ages from 21-24, 3 of which were regulars and knew the owner and the bartender. Myself and one other person were military. I asked for some "dollar beers" and wasn't even greeted, but asked for our IDs in a harsh, very unfriendly tone. Not necessary for such a small bar that wasn't packed or full of drunks. I had a state ID and the bartender wouldn't serve me, even though i was of age and it was a valid ID. I tried to explain to him that i didn't have another form of ID on me, to double tap my age and he was very rude and just kept repeating "no" and not even listening to me. Terrible customer service. At the same time, i understand where the bartender was coming from when it comes to making sure an ID is valid and covering his butt, but he didn't even have a decent conversation with me about it. When i went to talk to the owner who was sitting at the bar, the bartender interrupted me and continued to say "no." The owner who i heard was a good guy wouldn't even look at me, he turned his back to me and pretended i wasn't there. That was the worst customer service action i have ever experienced. If you are the owner to an establishment then you should be available to talk and be approachable. Your workers should also be friendly and respectable.
I tried explaining to these gentleman that i was in the marine corps and had left my military ID in CA hence the reason for the plain state ID, but they were very stand off-ish. It was almost as if they didn't support the military, but i won't jump to the conclusion.
I will not be returning to the hickey, and i hope the establishment evaluates themselves and makes changes for the better. read more
