R & M is a nice little diner style restaurant with good food. They were at a solid three stars until towards the end of our dining experience. Let's start from the beginning. You walk into a nice dining area, where you can seat yourself; there's booths, tables and even an Amish buggy for seating. They have a decent selection on their menu including breakfast, lunch, dinner & desserts. The service started off good. We ordered our food and waited. Everyone else's food came out (soup, wraps and a sandwich) then mine came out a few minutes after. I ordered a wrap with a side of garlic dressing which came on a white wrap instead of spinach and if the dressing was correct, it did not at all taste garlicy. It tasted more like 1,000 islands. It was taken back and I was brought a new wrap in 5 -10 minutes. This was the last we saw of our waitress. The food was all good, the service went downhill. As we were finishing up, in the back we could hear two individuals arguing with each other. We waited for a good ten minutes after we were done eating for our bill to come; it never did. We got up and went out to the counter where you pay to ask for our bill and were able to cash out. Based on the food, I would definitely visit again... Stopped in on way home from Jamestown after not wanting to wait in like at Bob Evans. I knew there was this little restaurant for years in Randolph, but never went. My breakfast (The Sunrise Sampler), included sausage gravy biscuits, eggs, home fries and two pancakes. No complaints about my breakfast, but nothing that really stood out for me. My wife had the special 'Gingerbread Pancakes', which she really enjoyed. The plastic table covers were tacky and sticky. They probably should just remove them. Inside the restaurant there was an Amish Buggy where you could eat inside of it on a table. Several customers took pictures of the buggy while were eating. I have yet to try lunch or dinner there. As for breakfast...it was average. My wife would probably give it four stars, but I'll go three. read more

This is a clean restaurant about 1/4 mile off 86. The food had was very average. Gravy on the hamburger steak did not taste house made. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was awful. Meat was dry and flavorless. Bell pepper was steamed not grilled. Miniscule bits of onion. Bread was not heated or toasted. Definitely the worst sandwich I've had in years. Fries were delicious. Have you ever been sitting in your living room when all of a sudden you feel the urge to eat a pancake inside an Amish buggy? Then you're overcome with sadness when you think a place like that couldn't possibly exist. Well my friend, I'm here to tell you that it does exist and it can be found just off I-86 in Randolph, NY. My buddy and I went there for lunch not really knowing much about the place. I'm really glad we stopped and I can honestly say I plan on going back soon. They serve breakfast all day and have quite a lot going on in the menu with a highlight on their "Duke" burger. The restaurant is Amish themed and just minutes away from Amish country (a tourism destination 'round these here parts). To go back to my first sentence, there is a refurbished (and slightly modified) Amish buggy in the middle of the restaurant that you can actually sit in to eat. Very fun, very polite staff, and the food came out quick. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're a local or a traveler looking for something close to the road. read more

Stopped for brunch on the way back from the finger lakes. First impressions before we walked in: a nice mom-and-pop style diner. Seemed popular based on cars out front. Waiting staff exceeded expectations, they were very helpful and friendly. Food came out at a decent pace and was quite delicious (veggie and "everything" omelets, as well as a breakfast pizza). The cook even met us on the way out - a sweet man who was very glad to hear that his food was enjoyed. Finally made it to the Southern Tier and visited this gem. Being a regular listener to a certain radio station in Buffalo, I've heard about how one of the radio hosts drives from his home in Niagara County, about 2 hours away, just for one burger...the Duke Burger. Well, I made it a point, when attempting to go to a baseball game in Jamestown, to stop here for lunch and get said burger. It did not disappoint, in the least bit. Prepared perfectly, the juicy burger was topped with an array of cheese, onions, lettuce, mushrooms, and more. I've heard many people say that this place or that place has the best burger, and usually it's good, but nowhere near the best. This one lives up to the hype. read more

Homemade amish breakfast! If you find yourself on I86 and need breakfast stop here. The place may have that "is that part of a truck stop" look from freeway, but do not be scared. You will feel better when you see the amish buggy inside restraurant, and amish goods for sale. First stop is the special board, and the Sunday morning I visited had the words Red Velvet Banana Split Pancakes. They start with 13" plates (about the size of an average large pizza) and they put two pancakes that take up most of said plate. They are Red Velvet Chocolate, lite kinda fluffy but seriously cocoa flavored. Next the sick bastards pile on chucks of banana and strawberries, then dump chocolate syrup and real whipped cream on top. You could eat yourself sick on two of these, really. I added bacon, nice crisp and hickory smoked. Ok, you want regular breakfast..try the sampler. Eggs, biscuits and gravy, buttermilk pancakes, enough to make sure you will not need to eat for a couple of days. Over easy eggs were prefect. The biscuits are little hockey puck size pieces of air flavored with biscuit. The sausage gravy is also prefect, no big pieces but all the flavor you could want. If I come with in an hour or two of this place, I will stop again. This is best breakfast and service I have ever had. The server will be first of many to check to make sure everything is fine with your food. I mean the other waitstaff, not just manager. Bill was about $20 for two with drinks. read more

The restaurant is cute with an Amish buggy in the dining room and Amish items for sale. Country music is in the background. The ladies room has a blackboard and chalk that I use to sign in when here. Unfortunately this visit, the toilet wasn't working properly and almost overflowed when I flushed! Luckily there was a plunger available which leads me to believe that it's a recurring problem. On to the food... I ordered a mushroom and Swiss omelet which came with home fries and delicious salt rising toast. The hubby ordered a hot roast beef sandwich which came with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Luckily there were trivia cards on the table because it took quite a long time for the food to arrive and there weren't a lot of customers in the dining room. However, when it finally came, both of us really enjoyed the food, and was only around $30 with the tip. Too bad we didn't have room for dessert because they had several choices of homemade pie. Nice place but big bad burger. Waited 1/2 hour in a mostly empty restaurant for a medium well burger that was well done and tasteless. The lack of a good charred beef flavor leads me to believe that this burger may have been re-heated. On our way back from Holiday Valley we stopped in at this place. I ordered the meatloaf and it was really good. My wife got an omelette with home fries which she thought was good. That is where the good reviews end. The waitress was so rude. She literally sighed when we asked her something. After I ordered the meatloaf I had asked if I could order a cup of the chicken Dumpling soup, she was so irritated by the fact that I had asked and told me that my meatloaf was about to be served. It didn't come for another ten minutes. She then asked if I still wanted the soup. Next, my son asked for another glass of Sprite as she sighed once again by him asking her for a refill, she literally threw the glass and it almost slide off the table then she walked away. The best for last. After lunch she dropped off the check. Never asking if we wanted anything else. So I asked her if they had apple pie. She gave me this stair as if I asked her something personal, she then tells me she's not sure if they sell apple pie. Never once saying let me check. Almost as if she wanted us out. So bewildered by her lack of professionalism and common courtesy, I simply said, it's ok, on the pie. She dropped the check out of her hand and bolted to the kitchen. As we were leaving I laughed when I showed my wife the sign that was highlighted in neon listing over ten different pies. Including Apple. When I went to pay the bill the total was $32.29. I gave the other checkout clerk $35.50. She then got so frustrated when she couldn't figure out the change and hit the register. As if it made the mistake. The sign behind the register read, if you are not courteous and disrespectful to our staff will throw you out. I think the staff needs to apply the motto for themselves. Won't come back! read more

Went in for a nice country breakfast a few weeks back....Coffee was hot, the farmer's breakfast was a nice portion for a fair price. The waitress was attentive and kept my coffee and water full and was very nice. They offer Amish maps and have some homemade desserts. Just ate breakfast here. The service was terrible. My choc. milk was reg. milk with a glob of choc. syrup in the bottom. She hadn't bothered to stir it. Then she decided to yell across the room at some older ladies eating breakfast. I had to get up and move. The food was ok, but not worth the poor service. I have had good luck here for lunch and dinner, but will never have breakfast here. Don't bother asking for strawberry jam, they don't have it. read more
