Had dinner on Saturday. Party of 7. I ordered the meatball dish, that included rice and pita bread. When my meal arrived, I noticed that soimething smelled "burnt". My meatballs were extremely burnt. I didnot eat any of it. I showed the waiter, he apologized and stated "I have to charge you for the rice and bread". WhaT! I didnt eat any of it. It was a nominal charge. This spot is a Springfield must! You have to try this place if you're in the area! The food was fresh, service was great and portions were pretty good. The fries are fresh cut and all of the meat was tender! I loved the freshness of this restaurant. Try the creamy garlic (if you appreciate fresh garlic)...it was an extra flavor boost! I don't think there is anything to be disappointed in on the menu! We will try the rotisserie Meats next time, as the server highly suggested. Kudos to owner, John, for doing his homework & insisting on tradition. The service is friendly & always hardworking. The place is small but quaintly attractive. Parking is at a premium though. If you like gyros, you've probably been focused on "Americanized gyros". For example, typically you don't think of fries in your gyro yet many vendors in Greece serve their gyros this way. And reviews mentioning "lamb" are probably referring to the minced lamb/beef "cone" that you see on vertical spits. At Greek Belly, you also have a variety of meats that are true to the culture. Often, my wife & I focus on those gyros with a side of fries to share, most often the Feta Fries. The Spanakopita, the Falafel, the Hummus: All fantastic! Springfield needs to realize what a hidden little Greek gem they have. read more

If you want a taste of authentic greek food and the chance to try some items you might not have tried before like their imported tea or their perfectly seasoned dishes come here!! The freshness was out standing we split a plate for two in order to try many different items not one item was less than the other. Meaning everything held together in a wonderful symphony of flavors. I felt like I was in Northern Greece absorbing the well thought out flavors handed down through time. Veggies can be happy there as well as carnivores. Even their baklava was the best ever. I have ordered now twice through DoorDash and both times my order was incorrect and didn't get what I paid for. It advertises rice bowl comes with tomatoes, and they're Taziki sauce in my order have neither I paid extra to get two skewers of chicken, and I literally got two less than 1 inch pieces of chicken. I only got two pieces of falafel in my order and I spent almost $50 and the food was dry as hell never ever again! At the Greek belly after the route 66 festival. Food is good and fresh. The only down side was the saganaki, it needed to be cook hotter to melt the cheese inside a little. It was too firm. And it needed to be flamed a bit longer than the 2 seconds. If the saganaki was perfect We would give it 5 stars. We had the pork skewers and the pork gyros. Drove down from Jefferson City and decided to try this place before going to the aquarium. We got there right as they were opened. It's one of those little "hole-in-the-wall", easily missed places, it's right beside Jimmy John's. I checked out a lot of reviews from places before picking this place and I'm glad I picked this one! The decor is a cute idea, it's meant to look like you are eating on a street or ally in greece, white washed walls, blue windows and doors hung about with lights strung across the ceiling. Since it was for lunch and the plan was for a heavier dinner we went a little lighter with lunch. My husband got the kraken which is a chicken and pork gyro with 2 sauces, tomato, onion, greek slaw and fries in it. I got a city Greek salad with a chicken souvlaki skewer. They were delicious! It was all very fresh and just what we was looking for! Next time we are down in the area, we will stop here again and try some of their other options! read more
