I do not see what all the hype is about Greek Belly... it's horrible!! The restaurant is small, overcrowded, and it was very hot inside for it only being in the high 70° outside. And the parking is horrible! We ordered the to-go pork Gryo platter for my hubby for $14.00. The portion of overcooked burnt to crispy hard shredded pork was SO small it reminded us of a child's plate. We both decided on the greek fries which were good and the slaw which is bitter tasting. I got the souvlaki platter with 2 skewers of pork for $16.00 and paid $2.00 extra for 1 skewer of lamb. The pork was cubed the size of a dime and the lamb was even a little smaller than a dime. All the meat had a lot of fat on them so they were greasy but had a nice flavor with a little kick of spice. Again a child's size portion. Nothing could get us to ever go back...from fighting to get a parking spot to the overpriced child sized portions the Greek Belly is not worth revisiting!! read more

I would rate this place 5 stars for the atmosphere and decor alone. Sitting there actually made me feel as if I could actually be in some part of Greece. The issue was that I sat there in Greece way too long before my food order came out and received a soft drink refill. The City Salad was very under dressed and the Slovaki Chicken Kabobs were a bit thin and under seasoned. If I were to return, I would definitely try a Gyro. read more

Hey John....Here is the scathing review I promised. A couple of weeks ago I ordered the souvlaki trio for pick up with tzatziki sauce. Upon arriving home discovered they had given me the wrong sauce. I only like the tzatziki. I called back and asked for a do over since my food would have been cold by time I could make another round trip. They agreed....so I load up and head back (without my wallet). I get the order and the server replied "my bad" when she gave it to me. I asked for an extra sauce thinking that would be the least they could do after I had to make another round trip. Oh no, there was a charge. I explained I didn't have my wallet but to no avail. Upon arriving home, I discovered they had not included slaw in my do over. When I called, the server said, "well, I gave you slaw the first time"....which was now hot. I decided to phone John (owner) to explain about my unhappy experience. His first response was "what can I do in order to make me happy so I would not post this review". I said, "you tell me". He said, "no, you tell me". I thought ok, perhaps another do over. I was in the process of saying that when out of nowhere, he interrupted me to say, "I don't respond to threats" and then hung up on me!!!!!!!!!!! What ever happened to customer service? He said he had been in the restaurant business for 75 years....evidently, he hasn't learned much in that time about customer service (which is out of the window these days). SO, I want to discourage everyone from going there and try CRAVE restaurant instead (Greek). It is 100 times better. They are on Republic Road across the street from Mama Jean's. Try their lemonade! This place is probably our favorite restaurant in Springfield. It's always busy in the evenings but the service is really efficient and everyone is really friendly. We always opt for the gyro platter: chicken or pork, french fries, vinegar slaw, tomatoes/cucumber/onion. They give you healthy portions but we always get the falafel mezze (4 freshly fried falafel balls). And if you've got a sweet tooth, they have excellent baklava! read more

Family dinner on Saturday and we were thrilled to find this jewel on Yelp. Lived up to its 4.4 star rating. Seated right away, we were delighted by the cozy atmosphere with creative umbrella ceiling decor. Wait staff were attentive and gracious in sharing recommendations on the menu... which did not disappoint. Two in our family shared the Prometheus shareable platter and a Kraken gyro. Stopped in whilst touring the murals of Springfield. Very quaint restaurant with hip dacor, great service and amazing food! We had the "Kraken" gyro with a small salad and spanakopita. Everything was a hit, fresh and excellent. The sandwich was nicely stuffed, the spanakopita light and flaky, and the salad has a nice helping of real feta. Great little neighborhood gem. So. Good. Got the Greek salad with both pork and chicken and it was amaaaazing. I would mainline their garlic dip sauce if I could.

The food was pretty good, the servers were very nice, but the one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the seating. It's a little bit smaller of a place, so people were packed in like sardines. We went right at the lunch rush so that part is us, but next time I'll wait til just after the rush and then go. Because once it cleared out a bit it was just fine. We will go back read more

My sister and I decided to try this place after reading the reviews. Number one, it's in downtown Springfield and parking is scarce, so there's that to know. The restaurant is cute . It's small, but decorated well. All is good cleanliness wise, until you hit the ladies room. The ladies room could use a deep clean. That's putting it mildly. We both ordered the gyro platters, mine with pork and hers with chicken. They came with fries and pita bread. The appearance was good but the flavor was not. We ordered dolmas and they were barely ok. Plus, the trip to the ladies room definitely tempered my feelings about the restaurant. Would I recommend this place? Whilst traveling thru Sfield to STL we did an overnight in downtown and needed a late dinner, nothing too heavy, fresh, light tasty. We hit up Greek Belly. It was a rainy Tuesday so we were the only one's dining in, a steady stream of Grub Hubbers/Uber Eats folk were picking up dinners for delivery, a good sign. We went with Greek Salads and Chicken Slovaki. My wife said the Feta on the greek salad was the best she's ever had (noting that the menu said it was imported), the pita bread and Tzatziki sauce were all great. Flavorful, light, fresh and great, mission accomplished. Our server was very attentive, helpful and made some good small talk. I worked in Dtown Sfield way back in they day and can say man, the place has some good vibes and good joints worth checking out. Add Greek Belly to your list. Delicious! Ordered a build your own with lamb, cucumber and feta banana pepper sauce and a grill plate with skewer Lamb and tzatziki sauce. I love a good gyro and this place was the way to go. Baklava for dessert was delicious. Place is small but lively. Staff were great, we had Julia as our server and she was attentive and friendly. If you are looking for a Beef or Lamb Gyro, do not come here. All they have are Pork and Chicken. As someone who doesn't eat pork, I was disappointed. I settled for the chicken gyro and feta fries. They were delicious. Everything is made in house and you can tell. I decided since the entree was good, dessert probably would be also... So of course I had to get a Baclava... And yes, it was fantastic. I love tzatziki. The tzatziki here is delicious. My wife thought it was heavy on the dill but I think she's crazy! Overall, once I got over them not having beef Gyros, I had a 5 star experience. Also, I think it was the owner at the register. He was really nice. He explained to me that everything is fresh!. I dined here 11/23, later in the evening. The server and bartender were great. I had the Souvlaki Trio, you can mix and match pork, chicken, and veggie skewers. I got one of each. The boyfriend had a gyro and fries and was very happy with it. I have celiac disease and not only were the gluten free items marked on the menu, the server was knowledgeable about it too. I substituted the lemon potato wedges for the fries and they were fantastic dipped in both the tzaziki and the toum. I got the Greek slaw as my second side, also amazing. The pork Souvlaki was my favorite. They do have gluten free pita, but I skipped it. Food came out quickly, except the veggie skewer, the server said she wasn't happy with how the first one was cooked and another one would be out shortly. As much as I would love to rate this place a 5-star, I just can't. :( The Cons: The meats were extremely salty. I'm on a carnivore diet so eating pita to tone down the saltiness just isn't an option. The floors going to the bathroom and the bathroom floor itself was so slippery. I looked down and I think it's grease. I see stuff all over the floor to the back part of the restaurant. When I walked back to our table, I saw just how awful looking the kitchen was. The floors were also a hot mess. The bathroom is just right next to the kitchen area too so I don't really know to make of it. The Pros: Our server was super sweet though. And she's very attentive to our needs. She comes over as soon as she sees our glasses running low on water. There's several other people seated inside and she managed to take care of everyone. The ambiance is amazing. I really did feel like I was brought to a different country. You get this very quaint and homey feeling. I really do hope they will address the cleanliness of the floors, especially the kitchen area. All restaurants should really prioritize it! I also hope they tone down on the salt. It's hard to enjoy the ambiance if the food you're eating doesn't complement the surrounding. read more

Residents from Pea Ridge,Arkansas. I have only Two places that I would drive a hour or two to my favorite restaurants and this one is one of them. Every time we go it's Always Amazinggg we get surprised by the vibe the atmosphere of it. Today we got a special request of it was closed when we arrived and we had to call to either reserved for 8oclock or take out and I am SO glad we waited and made reservations! We got a whole party gathering vibe it was phenomenal! The food we've been on the usual Gyros but from viewing our neighbors plates we have to try other plates they looked delish. The pastries my all time and won't substitute is the baklava and they gave it to us warm that was my first time it was better the syrup melted with the pistachio umm yea imagine that. I went with two buddies around 8PM on a Wednesday. We were already in the area and this place is very conveniently located. It was pretty close to close but they were more than willing to accommodate. I ordered spanakopita for the table and got a Dogfish 60min. My buddy also ordered a Dogfish 60min. The spanakopita came out pretty quick. I ordered the lamb gyro. One buddy got a chicken gyro. My pita was really good. I had fries on it instead on the side which was a little different. My buddy couldn't finish his pita. I don't make it to Springfield very often but this place will be on the short list of places to look up when I'm back. read more
