Ravioli with chicken
Ed D.

Came here on a whim since we were visiting Frisco and it started to rain. Nice restaurant bar with a lot of seating. Our waiter Shiran was really good and super friendly. Service was fast. We ordered the calamari and it had good flavor but was a little chewy. For our main, we ordered chicken parmigiana and chicken ravioli. Both were good but nothing out of the ordinary. They were decent sized dishes so we left full. Overall a good meal that was just a little above average but Yelp doesn't allow half stars.

Calamari

Came here early on a Sunday afternoon to have dinner before a concert. Plenty of seating so we didn't need a reservation. There were only a few other tables occupied so we had lots of indoor/outdoor choices. You can definitely come here for a cute date night or to grab a bite after a long bike ride. Our waiters were awesome and always very quick to bring things out. We order a few different items, and they were all quite tasty. The table favorite was the creamy pesto ravioli. The flavor was amazing, only thing was the ravioli came out warm and it would have been nice if it was piping hot. Overall, the portion sizes were perfect as well as the prices. All this food plus a bottle of wine ended up being around $85. I will for sure come back when I am in town and highly recommend!

Sausage and meatballs appetizer. Pretty good

This is a good place to sit at the bar with the friendly staff or at a table outside to people watch. Stick with appetizers, the food is ok. It's a bit of a tourist trap.

Sausage and meatball bowl ($11)

The Magherita pizza was okay. I really liked the crust but the tomatoes were bland. The sausage and meatball bowl was good. In fact, I really enjoyed the meatballs. It had good flavor. The service was also great. Our server, Kerry, was very patient and nice. I ordered an Aperol Spritz, which was very flat that I sent back. Instead, I got a glass of Chianti ($9) which I thoroughly enjoyed. The place was very busy, but well decored for a family-style vibe.

Jerk chicken

This was our first time here and we LOVED it! We sat at the bar. The service was amazing. I enjoyed wine and my husband had some beers. We had the jerk chicken and lasagna and both were huge portions and worth the price. We will be back to try other options here!

Pasta was cicis quality. Pretty dissatisfied with what I received, maybe it's more pizza focused?

Good food and friendly service. We had a pesto pizza and the chicken parm with some good wine. A welcome stop on our trip down the hill.

We were able to sample the wine before getting a bottle which I appreciate. The wine we had was delicious. Now food was a little bit of a miss. We got a charcuterie board which was good. The cheese and salami selection was good and it came with crackers, marcona amonds, fig spread and olives. I mean honestly nothing fancy or unique about it. But it pairs well with wine. We also got the focaccia bread which I felt was kind of greasy. I didn't even dip it in the oil cause it had enough oil in its own. We also got the margherita flatbread, but that didn't feel like a flatbread at all. The bread was thick and made it feel more like a pizza. The taste was good so I won't knock it completely, but I wouldn't be calling that a flatbread. Service was great, just a shame the food doesn't live up to expectations. I'd probably stick to the wine and charcuterie which were the best things I had.

Overall a very good vibe and very inviting to hang out. Service: Friendly and fast Food: Menu is definitely a step above your classic bar food, I got a sandwich special and steak tips. The sandwich was a grilled cheese croissant that included smoked gouda and balsamic reduction and it was really good. The steak tips were okay, decent flavor, a little chewy, maybe because they were cut so small? Value: Total after tip was $30ish for a 'just right' portion so may a little over valued. Price: Expect standard Vail pricing for high-end cocktails, with most drinks ranging between $16-$20. Customer Service: The service was fantastic. Atmosphere This spot has a cool, welcoming vibe that feels very safe. It's the kind of environment where you can really settle in and enjoy the company you're with. The Drinks I ordered the Sangre del Sol. The flavor was amazing, though be warned it is very strong! It's an excellent choice if you enjoy a cocktail with a serious kick, but I ended up letting my friend finish mine after a few sips. Overall Experience I highly recommend Root & Flower for a beautiful setting and top-tier service. Pro Tip: A huge bonus for this location is the parking! You can park for free after 3 PM at the S. Frontage Rd. East garage right nearby. I'll definitely be back!

Great crowd and we had a lively time. 2 nights later we went back for the same BYO Old Fashion and I gave the bartender (different from prior visit) the ingredients; Rye, angistino bitters, orange bitters and thats all! Over a single large block of ice. They were out of Ang bitters (???) so i substituted walnut bitters. It happens, no biggy. They arrived at the table and were over small chipped ice. Wrong for a bourbon drink. She said they were out of blocks (8:00???) It was full of simple syrup- yuck! I discreetly took it over to the bar and asked what was in it, it was terribly sweet and not what we ordered. She said she puts simple syrup in them. I told her that is not what we ordered in the BUILD YOUR OWN. And asked her to remake it. She stormed to the table and said she would have to charge me for the new drink since that is how they make them. I asked her isn't it a build your own? And said forget it just throw the damn thing away. I'm done. I had nothing and we left. Be careful to explain it is build your own and you get to tell them how to make it.

The food, people, and ambiance were so amazing, we made dinner reservations for the whole fam. Luckily there was availability. That night we were sat promptly when we arrived and the table was set up with menus and water waiting for us. For appetizer, we started off with the Parker House rolls with the house honey butter and OMG those rolls are so fluffy and delicious. Highly suggest getting the rolls if you like bread. The butter complimented the bread beautifully. I started off the night with the blackberry smash with tequila and it was delicious. Just the right combo of sweetness. For entree we went with their Pasta Rotante which for the night was a crazy flavor combo of tomato, pumpkin seeds, crunchy carrot strings, sage and chicken sausage. I'm probably missing other ingredients, but it was a dance of flavors on the tongue. Our waiter recommended pairing this with a glass of Pinot Noir and it was the perfect compliment.
