I had a problem in my basement. I called this company because they got two good Yelp reviews. I talked to Jack and made an appointment and he never came or called. I called and he came the next day late. It was obvious that he had bigger jobs and I was not on the top of his list. But this was a big problem for me. When you have rodents living in your basement (where my washer and dyer are) it is a big problem. Finally he comes throws down some bait and leaves. Called for two weeks to try to get him to come back (new droppings on the floor and half the bait was gone) and never could get him to come back. Found another company (Yelp review to come) and they came right away and are on top of the problem. Either come and do the work or tell me you don't have time. But don't waste my time. Plus I have two children, my mother in law and my wife in the house so this was a big deal. read more

Trust me on this: I live in a densely populated area of Cambridge near a restaurant, I'm a slob about dishwashing, and I have piles of stuff stored in an unfinished basement and I don't have ANY bugs which is awesome because I hate 'em. So contacting this company is a little weird...first, because they are also known as the John D. Lyon Co. AND AAA Greater Boston Pest Control AND Boston Pest and have three different addresses, and second, because the guy answers the phone with an monotone, abrupt "Can I help you?", and third, because they have no website or email address. They don't do marketing, they kill evil creatures. All their phone numbers* forward to a single office when they can't answer. Just leave a message - they'll get back to you! But they do a great job (there ain't no bugs on me), with prices and turnaround times better than the national companies I called. The general manager, Jack M., did my place both times. He showed up on time - on a Saturday no less! - and sprayed our house with a great odorless chemical called Suspend which all the national chains use. I did not realize I had Bed Bugs until I moved up to Boston (Brookline) from Florida. The bugs moved with me up here. My neighbor in Fla.bought furniture at Goodwill and got a terrible case of the BB. My neighbor spent ONE NIGHT on my sofa in Fla. And they ended up in my apt. (my boyfriend told me not to let her stay in my apt., I was stupid!) She had bed bugs and had her place fumigated and she could not sleep there; it was so strong of pesticides, you could smell it a mile away. Jack does not use pesticide that affects you. You will not smell anything. I realized I had the BB when I got blood spots in the bed. My Boston (small) apt. was treated with the Heat treatment, VERY expensive. That did not work. I tried everything. Moved to another apt. the bugs were still with me. Jack came over. I realize you have to call this guy about 20 times, but I worship the ground he walks on. He was reasonably priced and got rid of the bugs. He is the best. Absolutely the best. However, you have to keep calling him. He will get back to you, maybe after 10 times. It has been almost two years now and no BB. I had the BB for three (3) years until I got Jack. Please note, my apt. is always spotless. Believe me, I tried everything under the sun to try to get rid of the bugs, nothing worked until I got Jack, and he is reasonable compared to these rip-off artists in Boston who know you are desperate to get rid of the bugs. I called on a Saturday and was able to schedule an extermination for Monday afternoon. The GM answers the phone and is very down-to-business, but also very friendly and certainly knowledgeable. He came to my house to do the actual extermination as well. Sprayed every nook and cranny and also treated all of my major furniture, all while fielding my questions and passing along some good information. I had been in a total panic leading up to the extermination, but he really put things in a practical perspective and made me feel immensely better about the situation. read more

Useless. We have a bad rat problem and this company was called by our landlord. They stopped by, dropped off a few glue traps (when have those ever caught a rat??) and sprinkled a few pellets, and went on their way. Several weeks later the problem had (obviously) worsened so we called again, asking them to try to figure out where they were getting in, as we had searched the apartment and found nothing. The second time they came by, we think all they did was leave a note that our apartment had been "treated" because they did not follow up and nothing was changed. We did a more extensive search and discovered a huge area underneath the kitchen cabinets behind a flimsy panel where the drywall had been chewed through. It was stock full of food, food wrappers, even one of the chocolate chip cookies I had baked last week whose container was chewed to pieces by the rats. A rat wonderland! And all it took to find it was 5 mins looking around with a cellphone camera and a flashlight. Surely exterminators would know to look for openings such as these? But not when they can get paid for doing the bare minimum I suppose. Either way, call someone else, for your own peace of mind. read more

Don't ever call this place. Mainly because they won't pick up the phone. The landlord set us up with this company to spray for bed bugs. It took them a week to come spray, because they guy is impossible to get a hold of to set up an appointment. We had to threaten withholding rent before someone was able to get them to come. Finally they sprayed, and that afternoon I found more bed bugs, alive. I've been calling for the past week now, living out of plastic bags, and still no answer. I don't even think the phone line goes to a real person, just a machine. I called a different company on yelp and they picked up the phone right away and were super nice, answering all my questions, and ready to come spray that day. I wish there were such thing as negative stars on Yelp. read more

I had a serious mouse problem at my apartment. It was rather easy to set an appointment with him. He came and put some poison around the kitchen, only at the places that I had seen mice. But he refused to seal the holes in the walls or make a thorough examination of the entry points. The problem never completely went away and less than a month later, It's exactly as bad as it was before. read more

They are contracted to treat the apartment we rent in Boston. It is a four story with 7 rental units. The place is crawling with mice. Get this.....they know the entire building has mice but will not treat all of the apartments in the building. I've called reputable Pest Control companies who all say unless you proactively treat the entire building you will never get rid of the mice. I wish the building mngt company would drop these guys. read more

I called, Jack picked up right away, and he came within an hour to take down the hornets' nest that we found in a low-hanging tree branch in our backyard. We had tried to take it down ourselves - not advisable, as hornets are aggressive! - and ended up getting stung, so Jack's professional help was much appreciated. No fuss, he sprayed it, removed it, took it away and gave us a six-month service agreement included as part of the fee. So, if any of the few surviving hornets rebuild their nest within that time period, he'll come and remove it, no charge. Great service. read more
