Our condo association has been using their services for years. It was constructed in 1899 and like all of them in the neighborhood has old wood beam construction. We had a community meeting the other night. All the neighbors were talking about termite infestations, but not us. Best Pest doesn't deal with termites once there, but they certainly prevent them coming your way. We found a dead rat in the basement many years ago, they found the access point and fixed it permenantently. They're really good, and respond quickly. . read more

They helped me completely get rid of my pantry moth problem!! Rod came for 1 visit, and told me what to do. I also bought moth traps from them. Our situation was that we had a very bad infestation of pantry moths. After emptying the kitchen, having it painted, we still had occasional moths. Rod was able to tell me where to clean and he was COMPLETELY CORRECT. It worked!!!!! I feel he saved me!!! Besides this, the owners are very nice and Shawn who works in the office is very nice. Here's another review based on generous advice I received from the owner and his assistant--despite the fact that I had not contracted the company's service. I had a bed bug scare and, after talking to Sean on the phone, came in with samples I had collected. Sean looked carefully under a scope and asked if he could hold on to the samples until Rod, the owner, came back and offered his opinion. Rod found the evidence a bit inconclusive--my cats had likely squashed it!--but assured me that what he was looking at was not bed bugs. Most likely the culprits were carpet beetles, which I was advised on how to handle. There was absolutely no hard sell, and the advice was offered freely without pressure. Rather than pumping up the fear factor, Rod left me with a feeling of reassurance. If I ever had the need for extermination services, I would be happy to call on this team. read more

I did not receive the level of service they promised. I was told that because I had a rat borrow that someone would be out to inspect 3 times a week. Over the month I had to call 3 times and they only visited 4 times total. Part of the service was they were filling the borrow entrance with a spray form so they could detect activity. One of the times I called, I mentioned they hadn't bent down far enough to inspect the entrance because the rat had made a small hole. The next time they came out they still didn't fill that hole making it impossible to track activity. My wife is extremely discussed by rats so I was seriously debating if it was even worth hiring someone at all. In the end, I felt that having a professional actively inspecting was worth the peace of mind but again, that service was not delivered. The service they did delver was (a) installed poison bate stations and (b) filled the entrance with form. The poison bate stations are available at any hardware store and people online say you can just fill the entrance with newspaper. So would highly recommend attempting to solve the problem yourself before hiring Best Pest. PS: They claim that the bate stations are cat and dog safe but about two weeks after they were installed, my neighbor found a dead skunk in his yard. I'm not sure if skunks are smarter than cats but it is very strange coincidence. read more

I found a roach this morning and naturally I flipped. Luckily I was able to get it into a tupperware and walked right into Best Pest Control Services 20 mins later. The guy immediately assured me it wasn't the kind that infested homes (huge sigh of relief) and evidently it was a "wood roach." He gave me some great advice with what to do with my furniture that it probably came in with and I was on my way 10 mins later. I would have had no clue whether they would have had to do a visit to my home or not, which I'm sure would have costed big $$, I'm so grateful they were so honest and upfront about what it actually was! I have just claimed victory over the moth. War went on for several years until I united with Best Pest. I learned a strategy that really worked. After a quick lesson in moth control I was able to have a game plan- first hang the traps(from BP), check out traps with the most months,then begin search in those areas for their comfortable, save "home". Chances are good that it is your favorite rug. A quick vacuum ,some special spray to that area, and you are coming close to victory.Your fall sweaters will belong to you again. read more

Don`t trust this company If you love your home don`t let this company do any service for you,the tenants upstairs complained about bed bugs,but we never saw them,the problem was only with the third floor,the landlord hired this company and said the work would have to be done in the entire house,i agreed.But They came 3 hours late,that was ridiculous because we had to stay out for 5 hours,they sprayed over computers,tvs,stove,table,floors,they did a mess. And the most important to be sprayed was the closets and the office where we have carpet,and around baseboards GUESS WHAT?They havent done anything in those areas. My kitchen is all sprayed,my home theater,computer and guitar is totally wet,we removed everything from the closets for what?so they can spray our kitchen floor? Run away from this company,go find professionals,not people trying to make money. read more

My recommendation is to look for another place to exterminate. These guys don't know anything. They don't produce poison records required by the law unless threatened by the pesticide control, they tried telling me that bedbugs DON't travel from unit to unit, they didn't come back for 2 days after spraying my unit to treat the "problem unit" which by the way was vacated because of the degree of filth and infestation. They lied to tenants and said there was no evidence of infestation until the health inspector came in and confronted them. Then it wwas they found evidence in all. This company is horrendous. Go elsewhere people don't waste your time or money on this company who will not deliver what you pay for. read more

Waaay overpriced. Came out because I thought my condo had a mouse problem, however when it was determined that it was a rat the problem the price went from 100 to 300+ with absolutely "no guarantee" because it was a condo. Turned out my condo had a pest control guy on retainer so I ended up paying 55 dollars from our guy and the rat problem was gone. Unfortunately I was still out the 75 dollars Best Pest Control charged me for coming out. You may not have the same experience but my advice is shop around before using this place. read more

I have used Best Pest for years. They are really good and really helpful. They have eradicated carpenter ants and a bad infestation of mud wasps for me. They have also done work for my disabled son who lives independently and they were very understanding about his circumstances. They have also always been very helpful with information. Good pest control can be expensive. I find their prices competitive. They will also tell you if you don't need to do anything unlike big companies that want to come in and will give you excellent advice over the phone. read more

These guys were great. We had some sort of small bug infesting rice and grains in our pantry. First spoke on the phone and they were patient and walked through many different scenarios. I ended up bringing in specimens for them to identify and they gave me great advice on how to take care of the problem myself, free of charge! Honest and helpful. The man who works in the office at Best Pest has been a lifesaver for me on more than one occasion. I had mice in my Somerville apartment and a plethora of different kind of bugs, which was a new and disturbing experience for me. I brought in sample after sample of insects (and, in my paranoid state, things that looked like insects but were actually dirt) and the man in the office very patiently examined them under the microscope and identified them all for me. I thought he would get tired of me or at least charge me, but he never did. He is extremely generous and knowledgeable, and recommended ways I could treat the insects. read more

When my family found some things that looked a lot like cockroach egg cases in our house, we saw the reviews for this company and decided to bring them what we had found and see if they could identify it for us. The guy at the office looked over what we had brought him, including some sort of larva or nymph, and identified it as evidence of carpet beetles, not roaches (incredibly good news!).
