The tech was awesome and so patient and calm with us in a scary situation, plus we have pets in our home. They will be our source for all pest control for as long as we or they remain in the area!!! I am generally one of those people who never posts a review unless I'm furious about something terrible, but I have to make an exception here. We called Colonial after finding a dead mouse in our finished basement. A year ago we'd discovered we had a mouse problem after going away for the holidays and coming home to mouse droppings all over the kitchen (gross). We'd initially called a different company, who came highly recommended from a local Facebook group, and to be honest, the guy was super lazy. He insisted that he only needed to place bait, not snap traps. He walked around our house and identified some exclusion opportunities but said we should just do it ourselves with a little steel wool, which we promptly followed. The result was several mice rotting in my kitchen walls, which the guy had insisted would not happen even when I'd expressed concern over it. When Colonial showed up, the bait stations were completely empty and the mice had been chewing on the plastic in vain. Lance was exceptionally detailed in inspecting our home, noting that we had a larger gap than typical under our siding because there was evidence our house was once lifted for foundation repair, and identifying the active points of entry. He explained how steel wool isn't ideal because it rusts, and that for our larger gaps, a screen is actually a better choice. When he came back to do the work, he spent hours in the cold, pulling out all the rusted steel wool and replacing with screens and copper mesh. The work also has a two-year warranty, so if the mice find their way in, Colonial will promptly return and find/fix the issue. We just had a technician over to check the traps and bait two weeks after our exclusion work, and literally nothing was touched. I finally don't feel the urge to burn my house down. read more

For years, we had mice in our basement, lots of them. We hired a local pest control company and 4 times a year the owner would come and take down the bait boxes, find them empty and put new cubes of bait in them and put them back in their spot. The mice would die in the walls and the house would stink for 2 weeks until the odor subsided. This scenario persisted for years. The company would tell me the same old "mice don't need much space to enter your house. There is no way to keep them out." So they continued to fill and kill and we were left with the smell, over and over. Until I called Colonial. They came and filled all the holes and openings to the house and "voila", no mice, and it has been about 2 years. They came yesterday and took took down the full bait boxes, for good. I heard something in the attic late at night so I called Colonial Pest and they came within a few days. They explained they saw some mice droppings in the attic and told me what they were doing and why. They checked the whole inside and outside. They sealed whatever cracks in the foundation they saw on the outside. They will be back in a month to check all the stations. Richard was extremely professional and knowledgeable. I was so happy with their service, I have contracted them to come twice a year to spray the outside perimeter for bugs. Thank you for talking me off the ledge and calming my nerves and not wanting to burn the house down. Hopefully my problem is solved and I won't be hearing scratching in the middle of the night. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I have a year round contract for our home with them. They show up when they say, and are honest beyond belief. Recently we had critters in the attic. I didn't even know that they had a wildlife division so I called a number of other wildlife specialists. They all wanted to sell me the most expensive services ($1500+) and made it sound like I had everything from mice to a herd of buffalo in the attic. Colonial came out after I discovered they had this service and quoted me a smaller amount. When the actual expert showed up to perform the service, he told me his opinion was that I needed even LESS service and he was going to try the lower cost approach first and follow up in a couple of weeks. We live in an area known for bats, and had been working with a local competitor who was fairly priced but ineffective for 5+ years. When our contract was up we shopped around. Colonial was prompt with their estimating team visit, and our expert was honest about the potential high quote and what he expected it to come in at. He climbed the roof and examined from the inside and then asked if we would wait an extra few days in order to work with the best staff member he had for our situation. The work was done promptly and well - and for the first time in 8 years we are living a summer free of bat noise in the attic! Colonial Pest identified two areas that our previous company had not bothered to seal because they were difficult to access, and sure enough they had been our problem all along. Honest, prompt, dependable, professional. Based on the reviews, I called because of a potential carpenter ant problem. They came out and thought it was caused by post beetles and said the $375 estimate for carpenter ant treatment was unnecessary. He then sprayed something into the holes in the wood and baseboard to flush out whatever it was to determine the proper treatment. Nothing emerged. He then walked around outside to look for infestation or nests. After no evidence of a nest was found he told me if I ever see any ants inside or a nest outside to call back and request their annual program which covers everything for $350/year and they treat the house twice and guarantee their work. He wouldn't even take any money for his time. That's the kind of honesty, integrity and good business practice I miss these days. They are tops on my list and will be the first call should I find any evidence in the future. read more

I called the office because after seeing a small, fast moving brown bug in my kitchen several times over the past few weeks, I was afraid I had cockroaches. I explained what I had seen to the man that answered the phone and he took the time to ask some qualifying questions, explain the type of bug that I had actually seen as well as how I could deal with the situation on my own. Our cat found two mice in our new place and we knew we had to find someone ASAP to look for an entry points in the House they may have used. The man who came to look found multiple entry ways and sealed them and placed traps. They have a guarantee that you can call in and not be charged in 12 days (I believe) if you see mice again.
