Granted, we visited on a weekday, but Great Waves was a lot of fun! The big waterslides were closed but there are two separayte kid areas that are fun. The baby area -was very shallow with a waterfall and some sprays. The older kid area had two water slides, a mushroom fountain, and spays. There is a separate section that has buckets, sprays, and water play. The big wave pool is fun, but it can be hard to get a tube on the weekday-imagine the weekend?! We had fries while there and they were ok for pool fries. There is also a cool playground for when you are ready to put on shoes. I've heard it gets crowded on the weekends but I'd 100% visit again on a weekday. read more

Took the kiddos to the water park for some hot day fun. The line was long to get in but it moved rather quickly. Paid $44 for 3 tickets. You get a wrist band. They do check bags upon entry. Cute cabana that sells towels and sunscreen. The kids area was really cute! Slides, waterfalls, plenty of space to sit your stuff and have fun. I forgot my daughters life vest, but they had plenty to use in all sizes. Bathrooms weren't clean clean but they weren't horrible. When it was time to eat they have two options, chicken hut or Pizza Place, we had the pizza. The line was short but moved so so slow. The girl behind the counter must be new. I ordered 3 slices, got 2. Ordered 2 chips, got 1, ordered 3 water bottles and a tea. Paid 10.25 not bad but I left hungry. The kids seemed happy and I know they had fun. Next time we will try the water slides, they even have a playground area, birthday pavilions and mini golf. We loved the wave pool until my youngest scraped her foot. Lol Great time all in all. Overall, we had an alright time at the waterpark. My 5 year old thoroughly enjoyed the wave pool despite the water being cold. The lifeguards were very attentive and there were lots of chairs. Other pool goers seemed to be having a good time. However, the kiddie play area (Paradise Play) was disgusting and a great disappointment. Not only was it filthy and filled with animal poop, but there were wasp nests throughout the play area. My husband had to frantically run into the play area to find our son who was crying because he got stung by a wasp. Website pics are a lie. This pool is dirty!! The Wave pool is warm and the water looks like its never been drained. Just like others mentioned, Ive seen nasty crap floating in the pool!! Slides are decent. But that water is dirty. Watch your belongs at all times. People are shady and will try to take you stuff!! There is really not enough lifeguards. I had to pull two kids that had no business in 5 feet. Of course no parents around. The lifeguards are rude. Theres a way to talk to kids or patrons to get your point across. Then again, these lifeguards are 15-20years old. Oh yeah, no outside food, but if you know how to pack, you can bypass the nonsense. When we went only the wave pool and the kiddie splash was open. The slides were closed for repair. Thankfully they reduced the price of the activity to $10 for all people due to the inconvenience. The wave pool give waves every 15 mins but I will say that the kids were disappointed bc the waves were VERY small. But as it was a pool we still made due with it. We left after one of the patron pooped in the pool. Of course it was cleaned afterwards but as we had been there for a while, it just allowed us to leave. Before we left the kids played o. Water slides were very slow and did not have enough water on them to enjoyably slide down. We saw many people using their hands/arms to push themselves down the slide. Was also crowded and overpriced. The cabanas were $50 and consisted of around 5 chairs and came with 2 floats. When I tried to go down the slide, they made me take off my cut-offs because it would "clog the system." Some of the staff was also mildly rude and unprofessional. There were about 6 water slides with extremely long lines. The wave pool was very crowded, but it went as deep as 8 feet. The batting cages were the most exciting part and I would recommend them. I've had a family of 3 season's pass for 3 years, and this year will be my last. Don't get me wrong; it's still a super fun place for the whole family. But the facilities have gotten progressively worst. There's green algae or mold everywhere. The lounge chairs and beds are filthy with dirt, food, old stains and God knows what else. The dining areas have food, old napkins and condiments all over the tables, ground and trash cans, drawing insects. And don't get me started on the bathrooms. Last year, people started holding on to the wave pool tubes for their own private use, even when they were not swimming. On several occasions, I had to ask the staff to retrieve tubes from customers so that my kids could enjoy the wave pool. They did so, but I shouldn't have to ask when they literally see stacks of unused tubes sitting besides people's personal belongings. I've had birthday parties here and have been a cheerleader for this place for years. But if they want any more of my business, they have to do a mass overhaul. It's gotten really bad. read more

This place could use some improvements. First, it's supposed to open at 11am, but it got delayed 6min when the tickets staff showed up and they were super slow and clueless to operate. Second, the water was not clean even when it's just open in the morning, there were leaves, dirt, rocks, etc. Third, the path in the park was not suitable to walk barefoot. The bottom of the pool was also not smooth and could scratch skin badly. Overall, I think the facility was well but operation was not good. read more

I want here because it advertise as cheap and Fun. Instead it was a waste if money for the worst time spent. I think id have more fun with my kids watching paint dry... Or listen to a fart slip out my ass. The wave pool was nasty and mediocre. The lifeguards barely watched by kids Timmy and Paul Who Just graduated from 4th grade!!!!!. Overall one of my favorite water parks, but it tends to get extremely busy. Food lines get very long (30 mins wait+) for mediocre overpriced food. They need to figure out a way to get customers out and get the line moving. People nowadays are very aggressive in the pool because of his overcrowded it gets. read more

Not such great waves at all!! So we finally checked out the Great Waves Water Park and boy was it a bad experience. I'll try to be fair and also provide some pros... Pros: -We went on a Friday afternoon and only paid $10.50 per person to access the entire park. - Parking is free. End of Pros. Cons: (I'll start with the small stuff we were trying not to sweat) -The "Great Waves" machine was broken so the wave pool wasn't working. No big deal. - The green faux grassy area was quite unkept. We had to step over spilled soft served ice cream, dipping dot, and pizza which was not cleaned up the entire time we were there. Thank goodness for our highstep! - The pizza when our order was finally done correctly (half cheese half pepperoni) tasted like cheese on cardboard. But we were still smiling at this point. And then... - Our towels and clothes were stolen from our seats. Ok, let me get the kids to the car quickly as they have no shirts and pants. And then... - Our car was broken into and vandalized in the parking lot in broad daylight with a bunch of cars and people standing by. We approached to broken window, glass shattered all over our back seat, and things were stolen from our car to include a license plate. So in conclusion, The $10.50 discount we received, the police stickers from Alexandria PD, and the CSI demonstration was definitely not worth the $500 insurance deductible and cost of replacing the items stolen. I would say I like this water park for my kids. One thing I definitely like about it is that it's very spacious and the employees are very professional when it comes to angry customers. The one thing I didn't really like was the price of just 2 kids to get in. The last time I went, the ticket price for each ticket/wristband was $20 and it was me, my husband and my 2 kids. I like to say we like to spend our money wisely and we usually go to places where you can see the prices of things before you get there so this was a step outside of the box for me and my kids. I also did not like the customer service of the front desk employees. They took a tremendously long time to get to us which cut our time at the Waterpark short. And then when we asked for the price they ignored us numerous times and we were standing in the line for about 30 mins trying to get wristbands and even when we did pay for them, the lady was very slow and it was like that for the first and second time we were there. Overall, it was a nice experience for all of us. Definitely worth the time but I'm not so sure about the money. read more

It's been some years since I've been here, but we had a great visit. A run down of our visit: Parking - There was an officer blocking the entrance of the lot and telling people it was full. However, we drove by 3 times and saw 2-3 spaces available. After telling the officer about the spaces, he still made us park at one of the lots a few blocks up the road. I wouldn't have minded as much, but it was ridiculously hot. Tickets - Purchased on the spot with little to no line. No frills, no thrills - $15.25 pp for non-jurisdiction, free for children 2 and under. The Pool - PACKED! Everyone had the same idea as us- hot day...find a pool! There were a ton of people there, but I didn't feel overwhelmed. That may be because we didn't go near the wave pool. Mainly stayed in the lagoon, spray park and the baby pool. All 3 areas were pretty nice with water falls and 2 slides in the lagoon. My baby had a great time and he truly enjoyed all 3 of these areas. I wish the lifeguards corrected some of the little kids a little more though. This one kid ran past us at least 5 or 6 times in the pool...I mean RUNNING; splashing and tripping over us. He needed to be told to walk or have a seat. Other than that, we loved the pools and the next time we go, I'll be sure to bring some water toys for my son to use in the baby pool. I didn't think they were allowed. Food - Okay. Not super expensive, but not amazing. Typical "fun day out" junk. My snow cone left much to be desired...don't get it. read more

It was just okay. Mind you, we prefer the bigger, stronger waves of Disney's Typhoon Lagoon, so this place fell short in terms of enjoyment and wave strength. The place is very crowded and you are constantly bumping into people in the wave pool. The temperature of the pool is good, and those poor lifeguards need bullhorns or something to get their message across! It's hard to read lips for me so I can never tell who they're talking to. read more

It's a nice park for kids with the exception of: 1) their online profile says that the park opens at 10am. It opened at 11am; 2) they shut down the wave pool for an hour due to "unforeseen circumstances"- this created a mob at the water slide/wading pool to pass the time; and 3) the swim donuts- when the wave pool was closed, patrons hoarded the swim donuts. The lifeguards should have demanded that all of them be returned to the pool so it would start with first come, first served again. Otherwise, nice time had by all! read more

I've been going to this park since I was a kid, and I decided to bring my children. Everything looks the same from 20yrs ago. Park makeover is definitely needed. I paid $60 for a private cabana , table was dirty & trash was on the ground. Employees walked us over and walked away. We cleaned our own table. Chicken nuggets look like deer meat. Eh...I think I would call this a waterpark-lite; it's a little low budget. Definitely does not compare to the one in Reston. But like that one, you can't go on the cool, tall slides unless you're 48 inches, which really limits most younger kids. I suppose the wave pool is not bad except the lifeguards will yell at you if you go past the 4 foot line with a child. That's ridiculous. I'm standing right here next to my child, holding him in his tube. Also, aren't you a lifeguard?? Isn't that why you're hired?? To save people? What's the point of having a wave pool if all the kids under 10 have to stay behind the 4 foot line?? Adults don't care about wave pools, only kids! Ridiculous. So other than that, the only really cool things that kids can play on is a splash pad with water shooters and 2 smaller slides that meet in the shallow pool. Even here though, the lifeguard was blowing the whistle every time a kid climbed on the slide, lingered more than 3 seconds at the bottom, or ran. Incessant whistle blowing. Honestly, it just starts taking the fun out of being a kid. They have a pizza stand and dip n dots kiosk. Ample parking. Lots of chairs. There's also a large jungle gym with sandpit that we didn't really bother with. I had a discounted groupon admission here but honestly don't feel like this place is even worth that. If you want a cool water park, travel to Reston to the Water Mine waterpark for a more exciting, fun-filled day. read more

We had a bunch of fun. $15 something per adult. But no outside food allowed. So you're forced to eat their super overpriced food at the concession stands. They had pizza and wings st one stand and hotdogs and Chix nuggets or Samir's st the other. We got a kids meal for the adults. You can rent a cabana. Tho you can go in and out to your car for food. Wish they had picnic tables outside the gate in the shade. Needs more umbrellas for shade. read more

Fairly priced. Decent water park. My daughter loved the giant jungle gym and the kid slides. We had a nice time but I was more than perturbed by the no outside food rule. If you want to eat you are forced to buy junk food or leave your food in your vehicle. My healthy lunch and fresh fruit are now rotting in the hot car. Also not happy with the rule of not being allowed to hold my six year old on my lap in the wave pool. I understand there are safety concerns but when is a parent guarding their child a safety concern? We might come back and if we do we are so sneaking in our food. Saw plenty of that. read more

This watermark is within the Cameron Run Regional Park. It is a fun place to spend the afternoon. They have 5 main water slides, and 2 more small ones within the play area. There is also a wave pool. The wave pool has strict rules about going beyond a certain point (4ft) in the pool unless you are an adult/teenager. My 9 year old is a very strong swimmer but the lifeguards would not let her go. She was bummed about that so if you have a kid who loves to go to the deep end in the pool, you may want to let them know ahead of time. The area around the wave pool is covered with artificial turf grass carpet- a nice surprise when you are walking around with bare feet. There are huge umbrellas around the pool as well so there are quite a few shady spots all around the pool. There is a snack bar with snacks for an average of $5 each. The park does not allow outside food but you can bring water. There is also a gift shop. I didn't go in the gift shop but it also looked like they had things like sunscreen and hats in case you forget something at home. I also saw a First Aid tent set up right by the wave pool- good to know! All-in-all, this was a great way to spend a few hours and my 15 year old son and 9 year old daughter stayed busy while I sat in the shade of the umbrella and read a book...after I tested all the slides of course! read more

This is my first time coming. It's perfect from newborn to grandparents. Plenty of fun no matter how old you are. If you can, get a groupon to save a few dollars on admission. I'm definitely enjoying the cold water in the heat. The park even has mini golf too if u prefer to stay dry. read more

The only thing we didn't like is that they had a huge line for their food shop and very small number of employees working (maybe 3 max). Wish they could work on that. This water park had bad reviews when I considered checking it out, but I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt. But no I know I made a mistake and should have attended to the reviews.We bought tickets to a couple of visiting international students could experience water slides. But when we got there after an hours drive, they did not have the slides operating because they lacked staff. If they are going to advertise their amenities and expect people to enjoy the park, they should at least have enough staff to run the place. But they did not and we were unable to get a refund. Fun little park. Parking is a breeze and the lines are short. The price is perfect for what they offer and they don't price gouge at the concession stands. The tubes are first come, first serve but the patrons are friendly and they'll share. The kids won't get lost because of the wonderful park set up and there are plenty of lounge chairs. This Amusement Park was right up my alley. I'm not really a fan of Six Flags cause of the crowds and I enjoy my kids prefer more slides then a regular pool could offer. So this was perfect. There was a diverse crowd (of families vs couples), five decent size slides, a awesome wave pool, and a playground for my youngest. The cost was modest and with me now living in Severn/Odenton area it was only a hour away so I would definitely recommend this park to all. read more

We enjoyed ourselves here. The kiddos had a blast and honestly the adults had fun with the waves too. They have tons of tubes that can be used for free for the great waves portion. There are other sections for little ones, a play house and 5 slides. I only wish they had a pool as well for actual swimming; hence 3 Stars instead of 4. ***FOOD*** They don't allow food in but you can bring in water. And they DO search your bags. You can buy food inside which is not too expensive. We got a hotdog, a corndog, chicken strips and a large bucket of fries with cheese for a little over $14. There is also a dots icecream stand. In the future they will have a pizza and soft serve icecream (Coming Soon Signs). As I mentioned in a tip, there are picnic tables outside where the parking lot is. If I had known that I would have had a cooler in the car and packed a mini picnic. The parking lot is not massive like a six flags or anything like that, so no crazy walking to get to your vehicle. ***Tickets**** You can buy the tickets online and it is for a timeframe. So if you buy weekend tickets you don't have to use them on a specific day just within the timeframe. read more

The park is all that. Fun for all ages. But they don't allow you to bring food from outside, so you're stuck on concession stand lines for what seemed like an hour. Not sure who is managing the service but what worked 10-20 years ago isn't working now. They need to rebuild and step into the future. It shouldn't take all day just to get a cool drink. read more
