I asked one for clarification regarding the life vest for my babies and she said the picture is on the board smh well duh...this is what you do everyday, so I understand it seems like a dumb question, trust me I want to be off having fun NOT talking to a lifeguard, so if I'm asking I really needed to know for 2 young babies...and the guy at the Lazy River entrance smh horrible. I live in Baltimore and sometimes it takes us almost 2 hours to get there. This is my family's favorite waterpark however we always have an issue when we get here. They sometimes run out of select food items or if it rains, they don't do rain checks even if they have to kick you out due to lightening in the nearby area. I'm not a fan of that at all when people travel from afar. Otherwise, the place is very family friendly and it's very affordable. read more

Every single pool in this water park isn't heated. I feel like that should be stated in the website. All the pools are ice cold, the lazy river and the slides. Not one pool is heated and its unbearably cold. I went on a day that was 70 with clouds going in and out. Nobody in my group was able tolerate how ice cold the water was. Pros and cons here for sure. First, my 8 and 12 year old had a great time and 4 hours flew by. The lifeguard crew here is a so very well oiled machine, it is fun to watch them do their work. The price is very right here, as it is under $20 and there are many things to do. If your kid is over 48", they will be able to do a lot. On the downside, on the day we went, it was overfull. We got there very early, so we got chairs, but the pro tip is to get a chair IN the shade because the chair won't be worth much in the heat of the sun. On the good side, there is much to do, so you won't need your chair much. The other issue is, you get the whole gamut of society here, so some people won't be huge on rules, personal space etc. plan accordingly. Food was ok, but if you want unprocessed, they just have a salad and mine came with no fork or dressing. All in all, I would go back, and just make sure to grab some shade. read more

One of the best water parks in the NOVA area! There are slides for everyone, from little babies to grown adults. The regular pool in the back is nice if you just want to go for a regular swim, especially since it's usually less crowded there. I hope they add new attractions soon! I'm giving it 4 stars because the showers could be nicer with curtains or some kind of partition for privacy. When it gets crowded, like on the weekends, it's not as fun, but still worth going. read more

This place is actually good and I can see the potential but I think we went on a bad day so I can only go off of my experience. I will say if you go on the weekend get there EARLY! We got there around 12pm the line to get in was pretty long we waited about 30 ish minutes to get in. The prices aren't bad at all so it won't break your bank to get in. However when we got in there were literally NO seats so we had to put out things in the grass they do have lockers but I didn't want to wait in another line to get one so we didn't do that. The line for food was about a hour wait so we didn't get to get food. They had a few slides, a pool, a lazy river, and a little kiddie splash pad/ pool-ish area. So for the weekend we didn't really get to enjoy much but if you go on a weekday I think i would be an awesome little water park. read more

Compact little waterpark with two big twisty slides, two small twisty slides, two big straight shot slides, and some smaller slides meant for little little kids. Also has lily pads and a log, a couple pools just for swimming, and two shallow wading pools. Lines for the slides move pretty fast. Place gets PACKED. Lockers are $5 and you can rent at guest services which is right around the corner from the entryway. The lockers fit a standard beach bag (I fit 4 folded towels and 3 pairs of crocs/slides in it, easily. Not much more room though). They give you a little phone cord style bracelet to wear with the key so you don't have to worry about where to put it. Gotta leave your shoes to the side at every ride. I'd highly recommend water shoes bc that concrete gets HOT, and the walk from the exit of the lazy river to the entrance of it (where you put your shoes) is LONG in the heat lol Otherwise it's a nice place, plenty of affordable options for food. This is a great waterpark for the younger set but don't expect a lot of thrills here. What is available for the under 48 inches set: lazy River, lagoon, kids splash pad and water slides. The big pool that houses a couple of water slides is also available for leisure swimming. The obstacle course is cool looking but not for shorties like mine. There's lots of seating and lockers for $5. Food prices are inexpensive although I'm not sure of the quality since we didn't eat. The lifeguards were really overzealous in the kiddie area telling babies to get off the walls-and not nicely. Once the summer camps left, it was pretty empty on a Friday afternoon. They have life jackets but you can bring your own too. My son loved it (he's three) and we will definitely be back! read more

Such a gem to have this water park nearby. Kids love all the slides - there are 6 fun slides, including a tube twister. We love the lazy river - it's actually quite fast in spots and very entertaining. For the little kids, there is a large splash pad with smaller slides and a shallow pool with Lilly pad and log rope obstacles. A big drawback is the expensive food. The park does not allow visitors to bring food, so either you buy there or picnic in the sweltering parking lot. I also suggest coming right at opening - they tend to reach capacity often. read more

Haven't been to a water park in over 20 years since going to Splish Splash. I felt like I was reliving memories when I came here. While I enjoyed some of the rides here, they weren't necessarily something to be thrilled about. Also wish there were more rides. To top that off, one of the rides left me with some bumps and bruises. Another ride I was struggling to sit in the tube with the feet on top of it and this resulted in me falling off several times not to mention drowning. When I pleaded with the life guard for help, she didn't do anything. Luckily I was able to get back on my feet but I guess only because it was a 3 foot pool. Lastly the admission pricey and had to pay 5 bucks to use a locker. Overall not a totally bad experience but not worth going back. read more

Here is my perspective as a mother of two (6 months & 3 y/o). This was a family venture to the splash park, so we were about 25-30 deep ranging in ages 6 months to 65. The ride from DC was about 60-75 min. Entry was super easy breezy, got my ticket and bag checked. Hauled everything to chairs by the lagoon. Everything was pleasant. We enjoyed the lazy river and kiddy area for a couple of hours. Had lunch and put the kiddos down for a late nap by 2:30. Just as we were getting ready to get back in we were alerted by the lifeguards that there was thunder and lightening in the area and we had to wait 30 min. Cool, not a problem. Time passes and they allow us to get back in, YAY!! And literally two minutes later they let us we need to get out again :-(. They lost power. Ok, it happens. About 15 min passes and they then let us know that they are going to close the park because the filtration system had a malfunction of some sorts and they couldn't let us back in the water... got it. So now, you have the entire park leaving all at once, one or two people handing out rain checks (they couldn't give us a refund because they didn't have power), and the rest rooms are closed. We have several kids under the age of 3 and 5 pre-teens. All whom need to be changed out of wet clothes. So we are getting the kids together, cleaning up and packing up... all of which is obvious AND this is only about 5 min after they tell us they are going to close. A staff member then comes and stands in front of us as if to hurry us. Another one comes. They aren't standing in front of any of the other families that are packing up. Now, we are irritated and pissed that we are being rush and singled out. We all are visibly unhappy with this treatment, do you think they bother to say anything to us in an effort to calm matters? No, rather, another employee comes down to stand next to the water as if we are going to jump in. I grab my bags, kids and make my way out. I stop to get my rain check. She asks for my receipt... which she didn't do to any of the people I in front or me... seriously lady? 1. I'm already on struggle mode carrying all this stuff & 2. How do you think we got into the park???? We paid! So run me my rain check! Lastly, she didn't want to give my the rain check for my 3 year old. ((Takes deep breath)) I ask her, "Do I look like I'm in the mood to cheat this park of a child admission? ", give me my rain check! Super disappointed smh. Splashdown was amazing and always is when I visit. The lifeguards are always so nice, respectful, and professional. Sunday seems to be a great time to visit because of the crowd, its not too many people and there are still a bunch of families so get there early. The food is delicious and reasonable. They have nachos, hot dogs, fries, chicken tenders, ice cream and pizza. The food is no more than $6-$14 for separate items and entrees. There arent many vegan or vegetarian options except the garden salad. There are no food and drinks allowed in. I encourage you to try every slide there . read more

We had a very pleasant time here and it beat my expectations all around. Lines were minimal and moved quickly. Even as more people arrived, the lines for the water slides were moving at a good clip. The guards were young but so very attentive, kind, and respectful. It was plain to see they took their jobs seriously. I had low expectations for the food but my burger tasted "real" like off a backyard grill, the fries were delicious, and even the pizza was tastily seasoned. It is so flipping cold out (brrr) , I am hoping writing a review of this place will give me warm thoughts. Power through positive thinking, or something like that. Hubby and I hit this place every summer, with the exception of last summer because I was huuuge and pregnant. Not a cute look in a swimsuit, trust me. Bummer that they don't open until Memorial Day. This waterpark is a ton of fun, and really big so it never feels too crowd. It covers 13 acres of space, and packs lots to do. There are TWO four story water slides (which are hella fun) as well as 2 fast "cannonball" style slides. If you just want to cool off and chill out, hit the "lazy river"- they give you a tube that you can just lie in and go round and round in it. read more

SplashDown is a fairly entertaining water park. It's geared mostly towards younger kids, about 13 years old or less. The pools are clean, save for the lazy river which often has leaves and sticks floating in it (they don't have any staff on duty to clean that out during the day). Most staff are nice and do their job, a few tend to let teenagers get away with things that younger kids are not allowed to do (the staff is mostly teenagers after all). The food is pricey, so if you can I'd avoid trying to get it and just go to your car for lunch since they let you back in with a hand stamp. The tickets are $16 for anyone over 48 inches, which is a bit steep, so make sure to get use out of them. The slides are fun, and are pretty well watched. Overall, I would recommend going if you're in the general area, but I wouldn't drive hours to go, especially if you have a water park near you. It's a bit small and not worth a long trip, but perfect for people who live close by. read more

For the location and the value that you get for the price, this is a good place to go for a day of waterpark fun. There is an area off to the side designated for smaller children, and then for all ages, there are two tall slides (one open that you ride with tubes and one enclosed that you ride on your behind), two very fast short slides, and two longer, lower slides. Additionally, there's a lazy river, as well as an open swimming pool. Parking is free. If you live in the Washington metropolitan area, this is a good place to go. If you're driving more than an hour or so just to get here, it's probably not worth the trip unless you're doing other things on a longer visit. Protip: buy your tickets online before you get there, even if it's just the morning of your visit. The ticket line can be slow, and if you have your tickets paid for and printed online, then you bypass the ticket line and go on in after you get your ticket's barcode scanned. read more

My little kids (2-4 years) love this water park. There are some good play options for kids this age, which is why we love coming to this park. Also, it's free admission for kids 2 years and below. Buying tickets, getting in the park, etc was super organized. Also, there were many lifeguards on duty, which was fantastic. Parking was free and plentiful. We are going to have to go back there sometime soon! You're not permitted to bring food into the park...which I think is reasonable. The food served at the park was the usual stuff you'd expect and was pretty good (surprisingly!), and reasonably priced (~$6-$8) for most things such as burgers, hot dogs, nachos, pizza, chicken tenders, french fries, ice cream, etc. A couple of things that could use improvement, which is why this is a 4-star IMO... 1) I tried calling the phone line at the park for more info prior to arriving, and guest services kept intentionally disconnecting me. 2) The lockers are quite small, so if you bring a backpack, you're going to have to force it into the locker. 3) Open showers, which I didn't appreciate especially since there are kids involved. Also there was just ONE tiny bench in the men's room...so it was super-awkward getting changed (along with kids) with ~10-12 other grown adults standing around you waiting to vacate the bench. But overall, the water park in general was fabulous. But we'll be better prepared the next time we're there. read more

Surprisingly good for what it is. The park is pretty small but they make up for it very well. No wasted space. Their lifeguards missed a child that should have been rescued while I was there. She was wearing floaties and pushed under a flat bottom tube on the lazy river and couldn't get out by herself. So that takes down an otherwise good review. read more

Christopher Kelly is an example of excellent customer service satisfaction. My 6 and 9 year old went to the park on July 15th and were subsequently kicked out because of weather. It is the parks policy not to offer refunds during the last 2 hours Mr. Kelly saw through the flaw of that policy since we were only there for 1 half hour. I would just like to express my gratitude and profound respect to someone who understands The Human Experience versus company policy. If I could give mr. Kelly and Splashdown 6 Stars I would. While we did not receive a refund mr. Kelly has made it possible for us to revisit the park. Okay last week when I came they turn me away because off too many ppl okay so I drove back Down the following week being one of the first ppl in line and it was fun not too crowded but this park is way different from the other water park locations the life guards are rude and it feels like they are being watched heavily and they are not allowed to speak to the guest. I understand they have a job to do but why a straight face and seems like u in the army . But then again when my child went down the slide and had a bit a a panic attack I asked the life guard can I go get her ? She saids no so my child continues to almost drown and then the life guard saids do u want me to get her ? I'm like really ? This was our first time visiting and it was AWESOME!!! My daughter is 9 and I practically had to drag her out of the Lazy River. We also did the tube slide which was also a lot of fun. Wait times were not bad, either. The food there is a bit expensive but worth it and expected. It was really tasty. We were there for almost 5 hours and it only felt like 2. Awesome water park within easy commuting of most of the DC region. It's big enough to offer a variety of water activities like slides, a lazy river, and others, yet small enough to not be overwhelming for a family. The facility has always been clean when we've gone and the staff are always friendly. Be sure to go early on summer weekends because they will turn people away when they reach capacity. read more

Despite having grown up in the area, I grew up with a backyard pool and had never been to SplashDown. I went yesterday for the first time with my 8yo son, older brother, and his two daughters. A great time was had by all five of us! Here are a few of my thoughts: I knew coolers and food weren't allowed in, so we hadn't even brought water bottles with us, but I happily discovered big coolers of cold water dispensers with disposable cones at a couple of spots in the park. The lifeguards were impressive. I'm not sure I've seen lifeguards in action before, but they seriously had to jump in and save people repeatedly, particularly on the cannonball slides. I'm not sure if people went on it and didn't realize they'd be falling into 12 feet rather than 4, but those lifeguards were quick to jump in and help anyone struggling. Even on the smaller slides, some kids in life vests could get caught in the current of the water and needed help reaching the edge. And when one jumped in, the surrounding lifeguards made sure to cover the vacated post. I wish I'd caught his name (he had a beard, if that helps), but on the big inner tube slide, there was one particular lifeguard who was my favorite. He didn't merely tell us when it was safe to go, but would ask if we were ready, then grab the handle and fling us down the slide. It was awesome! The lazy river was anything but "lazy" though. It was crowded and had a crazy fast current. I do wish that the lifeguards required kids to be in tubes. Multiple times, random kids swam between the tubes and came up under me. One time I walked it while holding on to the double tube my 8yo son and 5yo niece were in, so that they couldn't get swept away from me. So I definitely think adults have reason to be tube-less, but not kids. And there were a few discrepancies on rules. I went down the white tube slide several times in my prescription sunglasses, but one time the lifeguard requested that I remove them and hold them. Also, in the big pool, some lifeguards let kids wear the goggles that covered their noses, while others wouldn't allow it. The lifeguards were always polite and nice about enforcing the rules, I just think it may be better to have the rules apply across the board, and not vary depending on the guard. Over all, it was a great first experience for all of us. When I return, however, I'll be sure to reapply sunscreen (I'm fried, and it's totally my own fault). I'll also look into one of those waterproof phone cases I saw people wearing around their necks. Not that I'll be playing on my phone, but I'd have loved to take pictures AND play in the water. read more

This place is one word: NASTY! I take my baby sister here once a year. She's getting older so we are probably coming to an end of the annual "water park" trip. The prices were okay this year. The three of us went and it was 48$ to get in which is a rip off considering it's basically the same thing as splash down with more slides. Have you ever heard the saying, "you get what you pay for"? Well, with this place, you don't. It's disgusting. There is trash everywhere and almost all the stairs that lead up to slides are rusty, musty, and dusty. The areas where the chairs and benches and lounge seats are, aren't even clean. It's muddy and landscape isn't even maintained. The only reason I didn't give the place 1 start is because the lifeguards are great at what they do. When we were there, my little sister went down the two big slides. She wanted me to go with her but I had my other sister go with her because I couldn't get past the nasty nasty stairs. It's a big park, yeah, but if you want satisfaction, take a day or two to clean after closing. I work at a pool, so I know water quality. I've been an aquatics employee for almost two years and this quality is disgusting. I never see anyone taking readings once an hour (as they should). I couldn't even stand being on the concrete as everything is just so gross. I can tell you that as an aquatics employee of an I fire pool, we clean all the time. We will get up at 4am, or stay till 930 pm, just to ensure the cleanest, best possible experience. It's a pain but in the end, it's worth it because I would feel comfortable enough to lay on the floor. At splash down I don't even feel comfortable sitting in the chairs. Please save your money and go to water works in Woodbridge, or to the PWC AQUATICS center where I work. (We have a slide and free toys and a toddler area) for admission of just 4-7$. read more

It's nice to have a water park around (when you don't think about the chlorine and bodily disgust that's actually in the water.) I've been coming here once every summer for the past few year for a company picnic (Yay! I get to skip the lines!) In the very back of the park you can reserve space for your party - ours have been held under the giant tent by the volley ball net. They allow for some outside vendors to come, such as the moon bounce company. Food however is catered by Splash Down, so no outside caterers. Which is fine because they really set you up with everything from bottled water, sodas, chicken, burgers and dogs, sides, and cookies for dessert. For those not attending a party, they have concessions if you get hungry. On a completely different note: How weird is it that it's located behind town homes? People can look out their windows and see everyone in the park. Weird! The water park itself is small compared to other water parks I've been to. If my memory serves me correctly there is a small lazy river, kids pool/slide area, and 6 other slides. After going on most of them twice, three times max (and yes, I passed up on the kids slide so I don't look like a total creep), you're kinda done with them. Small but you can definitely squeeze in a few hours worth of fun here. read more

Well I've got to say this place exceeded my expectations! I have a two boys. One teenager and a 9 year old and never once did we get bored! The lazy river is amazingly run and relaxing and the water slides are addictive, even for me! The life guards do an amazing job watching every person carefully. So much so that I felt comfortable letting my youngest out of my sight here and there knowing he was being watched. There are plenty of places to sit in shade or lounge in the sun here. Tons of trash cans and very clean! We were there from 11am to 5:30pm and although you can't bring food inside that park, the food available was good and a respectable price. Even the souvenirs were a great deal. We arent able to use the goggles we brought because they covered the nose but the ones offered there were five dollars and the kids loved them. All in all I'm so satisfied with splash down. We will definately be back! read more

Staff was friendly and well-trained, life guards were plentiful and vigilent. Nice landscaping and flowers, lots of grass and trees. Food was only so-so. Good for at least 3-4 hours of fun. They do birthdays too. Bigger and more fun than other regional water parks like Upton Hill, Cameron Run, etc. Tips: Buy tickets online (if the web site is working); arrive when it opens; grab some chairs in the shade; bring water. I was wavering between 2 and 3 stars for this review. Most accurately, I would give 2.5 stars. My husband and I drove here from Bowie, MD (about 1 hour, 15 mins drive). We weren't sure what to expect due to the mixed reviews. First, I will start with the positive: The entrance price was reasonable ($14.99 per adult) when compared to other parks in the area such as Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. Food prices were also reasonable too (eg, $5.00 for a sandwich and fries) and they had a lot of food choices for the small size of the park. I enjoyed the dippin dots and the fact that they have vegetarian items such as veggie burgers!! There were plenty of life guards, chaise lounges/chairs to sit on, and a nice layout. The lazy river was also a plus. A lot of parks this size do not offer one. We also liked that they offer lockers and you can purchase various items such as goggles, feminine products, sunscreen, etc. Now for the bad: It was EXTREMELY crowded.. it was actually crowded to the point of being frustrating and irritating. The lines for the larger slides were very very long, and we ended up waiting over 30 mins just to ride. The water in the lazy river seemed unclean. There were pieces of flowers, rocks, and other debris floating around... and it was so crowded that people were fighting each other for tubes! And they allow you to be in the lazy river without a tube, so rowdy kids kept pushing me and swimming under me. It was very annoying and NOT relaxing. It was more like a chaos river!!! The worst part was the bathrooms/locker room area- when I went in there to shower off, there was a dirty sanitary napkin on the floor, and people's clothes thrown everywhere. It was dirty and disgusting. I ended up leaving my bathing suit on and changing in the car... Overall, we had a good time, but it wasn't the best waterpark experience we've ever had. read more

Oh to be a kid again! Who the heck am I trying to fool here?! I'm still a kid lol! Splash down is a great place to take kids of all ages for a day of fun. It's reasonably priced, has a great selection of junk food, and plenty of parking. The only downside is they don't allow "dunking" but I guess it's for everyone's safety. If it had a diving board it would be PERFECT but the lazy river makes up for that imo. There are a number of slides to go down and plenty of space for a game of "Marco Polo." P.S. It's also nothing like working out all winter, going to a water park filled with baby mama's and watching them admire my amazing physique. I thought this was a great park for younger kids. My kids absolutely loved it. They want to go every day. I have a twelve year old, a five year old, and a three year old. They all had a blast. My five year old son could walk across the log and do the lily pad skill things. He could even do several of the "big kid" slides. My daughter, 3, loved the kiddie area. She was happy as could be playing on her little slides and running around every which way she could. In the 3-4ft sections, its great because they have a floating snake, a floating "Nemo" and even a sea turtle. My kids were on cloud nine. I like how friendly and attentive the staff was. Even with all those kids, the staff made sure everyone followed the rules and behaved. I like how clean the facilities and pools were. It was a great day. Prices were right. We will be back. read more
