Somethings you need to know about Marion Pit BBQ are: Southern Living magazine did a feature on them. They are primary drive-thru but have benches and tables outside to eat on. They do ribs on Wednesday and Saturday and chicken on Sunday and Thursday. But you are going to want the pulled pork because it was a-ma-zing! It was tender, juicy, and seasoned well. I'm so glad I doubled the meat! There are two sauces - a mild and hot. They remind me a lot of Sonny's Mild and Smokin BBQ sauce except with the made fresh aspect. I would rank the Hot as a 6 or 7 on a heat scale. My sides were potato salad and Mac and cheese. The potato salad is a mustard style and had celery in it. The mac ancl cheese was solid. The one thing I wish they would do would be offer fresh-brewed sweet tea. I remembered Marion currently has a water crisis so maybe brewing sweet tea is out of the question. They do have bottled drinks. The pulled pork and sauce alone make Marion Pit a 5 for me

My wife and I ordered the evening special of Hawaii Chicken along with the fried onion appetizer. Everything was good with the exception of the grilled chicken and the bed pilaf rice. Chicken was over cooked which made it tough and dry. Pilaf was either undercooked or had sat for a while because the rice was hard. Baked potatoes, broccoli and salads were very good. We were told there was only one cook in the kitchen. If so he/she was very busy. At the end of the day, I'm sure everything would have been much better if the kitchen was adequately staffed.

Absolutely outstanding - my family are staying at a nearby hotel for the night, and because my…read morehusband will be on a work trip on Father's Day, we decided to stop in because he loves Italian food. First of all, our waitress, Hannah, was SO nice - she checked on us often, was able to answer our questions, served us as quickly as she was able, AND she worked with me on my unique special request. Second, the atmosphere is so homey. There was Oldies on the radio, the lights weren't too bright, and the smell of the food just made me feel so comfortable. Third, their food was so good - we ordered fried mushrooms and garlic olive oil dipping sauce for our bread as appetizers, my husband ordered pasta, and I had a Sicilian pizza. The bread was soft and fresh, the mushrooms had the most delicious breading, the olive oil was flavorful, and my husband and I were in love with our entrees!! The entree portions are really large, too, so I'm actually really happy we're going to be able to enjoy their food again haha. Lastly, they were extremely courteous when it came to our still working on our food just past close - Hannah even made us feel at ease when she offered us dessert and I'd almost turned her down because it had just turned closing time (their tiramisu is SOOO good, by the way). We're not sure if were going to be in the area ever again, but if we ever come this way again, we're definitely stopping in for a meal. This place deserves all the praise!!
