DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!! PART 2. UPDATE. The business owner Tracy has attempted (AND FAILED) to do damage control by responding to my original horrible review EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD ALREADY RESPONDED TO ME ON THE PHONE...so there was no reason to respond to me online here...ONLY to try to twist the story and do damage control. Sad. She knows that YELP doesn't allow US CUSTOMERS to respond to the business owner's reply and that they get the last word on here, so they make it try to appear as though the customer is wrong or being unreasonable...so I am posting again to let everyone know how full of it these business owners are and how they are clearly trying to save themselves from ANOTHER horrible review, because they have MANY. See my original review below (I have attached a screenshot) or just go to the original post for it AND their reply (Yelp doesn't allow that many characters here to post it all). And why am I going through this trouble? To make sure that you good people out there do not use this company and end up going through what we did with them. So now for my reply to the business owner's response to my original post. TRACY SAID "You contacted us twice on July 12th regarding an issue with the heater not working and the water not flowing from the spa to the pool. Our associate spent time on the phone attempting to help you troubleshoot the valve positions and asked that you call us back if the issue continued. We did not hear from you again until the morning of July 14th." Wow, Tracy...you keep making yourself look worse and worse...what actually happened was that I contacted YOU on Saturday and spoke to your associate TWICE and had to waste a ton of time on two different calls troubleshooting the problem and NOTHING he told me to do actually worked, completely wasting our precious time. And the reason you didn't hear from me AGAIN is because my SECOND call had been a 10 minute call that was made at 3:54...AND YOU CLOSE AT 4pm!!!! AND your business doesn't open again UNTIL MONDAY MORNING!!!! So I actually have to tell YOU what YOUR business hours are AND when you are open and closed??? YOU ALSO SAID "The cleaning and chemical balancing services you were charged for were completed as scheduled, in accordance with our service terms." Well, Tracy...again...in accordance to service terms, and for a visit to be "COMPLETED AS SCHEDULED", YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO SET THE POOL SYSTEM VALVES & SETTINGS CORRECTLY PER YOUR OWN INSTRUCTIONS (NOTES AND PHOTOS)!!! If you didn't do that, you DID NOT "complete as scheduled"!!! If the valves and system were not RETURNED TO THEIR ORIGINAL AND PROPER POSITION, you did not "COMPLETE AS SCHEDULED". If YOUR SERVICE VISIT and carelessness caused MULTIPLE ISSUES with our pool systems, then YOU DID NOT "COMPLETE AS SCHEDULED"!!! And this is all on top of the fact that because of what the technicians did, our system was malfunctioning FOR DAYS!!! "Complete as scheduled" means that you did what YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DO...and PROPERLY". Which you did NOT do. Yet, you STILL charged us FULL PRICE WITH NO DISCOUNT AT ALL for that service AND all the aggravation and inconvenience you caused us, YOUR CUSTOMERS, as detailed in my original post. Once again, YOU DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS & all your negative reviews here prove it. And that's why we fired you and why you've lost SO many customers...and are getting so many bad reviews. read more

i took care of my pool for 30 years so had basic knowledge. my neighbors are a good bit older than i am and had problems with a new pump that i couldn't figure out bc of blue tooth technology.... ugh Kyle and younger co-worker were so helpful, kyle over the phone on first attempt to get it running. and then i met them at the pool for a hands on lesson ! i cant thank them enough for their patience. kathy compton read more

Pay attention to how many 1 star reviews are here. Do not use this company at all! This was our first time booking service with this company. Horrific customer service and a pool opening that cost more than $1000. Only they didn't tell me that upfront, charged an extra $180 for chemicals that were IN OUR POOL HOUSE. Refused to remove charges for things I already had. Three chemicals for $180 is predatory billing. Customer service rep said basically "sorry". Showed up late for the appointment so started off on a bad note Appalling customer service from beginning to end. read more

Julio who works at Great Valley pool service, did a phenomenal job of replacing broken tiles around the pool. Julio was respectful, hard-working, and vacuum the pool, in over 100°, weather, to make sure there was no debris at the bottom of the pool. I can highly recommend anyone to use Great Valley Pools along with Julio and other workers who have been servicing our pool for over 28 years. read more

I have had very good experiences with Great Valley Pool for the past 21 years. Their teams are knowledgeable and honest, especially when I have had major repairs to contend with. I had an electrical issue with my spa and heater controls and Dan and Julio came out to provide the service. Finding the best work around for this issue and explaining to me in detail the steps I would need to take for it, until I get the main controls for the pool replaced. It is this kind of personalized service that people really value and I greatly appreciated their expertise and patience. read more

Great Valley Team members closed my pool for the season. All was originally scheduled easily on line. I received multiple notifications prior to the scheduled date for reminders and the team showed up timely as scheduled. The work was done thoroughly and efficiently. They were friendly and communicated well with me answering any questions I had. I am comfortable the pool is in good shape and will be ready in spring. read more

I think they are struggling with staffing and are over-extended. In our experience, it takes about two weeks after a service call before someone shows up. Part of the problem is their office staff - sometimes when you call for service the message must go unrecorded and you have to call a second time and there is no record of the first call. They also don't check what they say they will check when opening your pool for the season. Most years we find that something does not work that should have been checked. This year, we have a dead spa blower and the pool light does not work; in past years the heater has not worked the first time we tried it. All in all a frustrating experience. Have been with them quite a few years and we have really noticed a degradation in service, likely due to not enough staff for their number of customers. read more

I heard great things about this company and they came recommended but this company schedules a pool cover quote and last minute wants a $50 quote fee the day before they are scheduled to come out to measure. No fee was discussed during the 2 other phone calls about getting a quote. Understanding that the fee goes towards the cover but that's just poor business. Losing potentially thousands of dollars of business for a $50 fee. I always get three quotes and would never pay to get a quote (and didn't with the other 2 quotes) that's the cost of doing business and earning a lifetime customer. Instead you lose a a potential lifetime customer who just moved to the area with a pool that needs future repairs and a brand new cover installed. Pool business model unfortunately. Prefer to use local over the National stores but can't justify paying for a quote to earn my business. read more

This is the 2nd full year I've used GVPS and am extremely happy I found them after my former pool company closed. I had to scramble to find a new pool company quickly and they were extremely accommodating to fit me into a very busy schedule. The entire scheduling and payment process is online which makes it very easy. Once scheduled, there's automated reminders via text, email and phone calls confirming the appointment the day before which I really appreciate. During the pool opening or closing, I've been very impressed with the level of professionalism and efficiency of their team - especially having a pool plus spa. The final comment I'll make is how clean my pool is once it's opened vs how it used to be. It's the old adage that you get what you pay for. I pay more now than with my old company but it's worth the reduced hassle and effort to close it correctly, with the right chemicals and enjoy a cleaner pool quicker when it's opened. read more

Last week we were fortunate to have Nicole wait on us to test our water. We have had the pleasure of knowing her and reaping the benefits of her knowledge for thirty years. We have been a customer since 2003. GVPS are incredibly responsive and very competitive. We just had an issue with our filter. Even though they are deep into the closing season, they got someone out here in 24 hours. We open and close with them and buy our supplies from them. Highly recommend! read more

Stopped by to grab skimmer baskets - our first visit. We had a few questions about our pool that came with the home we bought in the fall. The tech we spoke with was very knowledgeable and took a good deal of time with us to learn about some of our observations and really problem solve some potential ideas and let us know both quick as well as longer term suggestions. Felt very much like they were interested in helping and not just out to make a buck! Will def be using them in the future! read more

Requested service online. Received a prompt response. They showed up on the day they said they would. Timing of an appointment is not firm but wasn't a problem for us. Service tech was polite. Explained what he did. Weather was miserable and cold so just impressed that he showed up. Repair was completed and works. read more

Your fired!!! A fact. I had 3 major issues with this company over the the course of the past 2 years, none solved to my satisfaction. The last being a disagreement on a replacement part that old part was not returned or no refund issued. Well firing this incompetent company was a god send as I discovered through an expert that they had my pool set up incorrectly and this was causing problems throughout the entire system. Damage done unknown at present, worse case well I dont want to think about it. New ownership in last 2-3 years, service managers that are new or ones that have been there a long time for a reason and a lack of real focus are the issues with this company in my opinion. If you are current client, get your pool looked at by expert. If you are a potential new client well all the best in making your decision. read more

I had 2 bad experiences with Great Valley. They came to open my pool and left the backwash waste open. The pool emptied over the weekend while we were away and the pump ran on empty. I called and they never apologized. Then they came to service my pump which had a leak on the shaft joint. They over tighten the pump and cracked the pump where the bolt attach the joint. I called them and they will not come back out to fix their own work claiming that they are too busy and that I am too far. Avoid them at all costs Update on their response: just for the record I called a week ago, and was told to expect a call back. Never heard from them, I subsequently called 3 times, never requested same day service, although expected them to correct fairly promptly their own mistake. No specific date was given except as they said in their response "you live too far away and we will get to you whenever we can"... Seriously.... read more

I always like to use local family owned companies however ever since they were taken over the level of service has declined dramatically. The staff inside the store has become rude and abrasive. The store location was great as it was close to my home -now I travel twice as long to get my chemicals etc. In addition, I no longer use them to open/ store my cover/ or close my pool. If you are a pool owner you know it that is a big loss for them not me. read more

I have used great Valley Pool service for many years. I appreciate the convenience of having my water tested and purchasing my chemicals at a fair price in the same visit. The assistance I received from Nicole and Chuck are always helpful. In fact, Chuck actually provided a "telephone consult" regarding a question I had about my filtration system. I also appreciate the service they provide. I have always been able to schedule the opening and closing of my pool during the week (and often the exact day) I had requested. Also, when I had a problem (damaged filter pump) they were able to hook me up with a replacement ( and rebates from PECO and the manufacturer) in relatively short order. read more

Use these guys if you know what you're doing and just don't feel like doing it yourself. Everybody makes mistakes but most reputable companies don't run from them. Damaged pool and then demanded $$ to fix. read more

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I called them for pool tile & coping repair. They referred my to David Ettore & we contracted w him. When they drained the pool, they destroyed the end of my driveway bc of the water flow. They were here for 5 days and still did not have the entire pool gutted, yet they started to re-brick my pool. Not to mention, the worker showed up drunk & walked off the job. They also did not remove the pool plug & the current pool guy I have now said if it would have rained, my entire pool would have cracked! I am now in the midst of filing criminal & civil charges against all parties involved. read more
