I have had the pleasure of taking several classes from Mark and Bob and thoroughly enjoyed each one. The basic structure was the same for each class, lecture in the morning with field work following. When possible the lecture portion is outside as well making the class that much better. The chemistry between Mark and Bob add a great deal to the lecture portion as well, they are at the same time, informative, humorous, entertaining, and organized while they present on basic camera and equipment use and field all questions easily.
Where the classes really shine is in the field. Mark does what is essentially a nature lecture on the things you see along the trail and Bob helps you photograph them (Mark is also and excellent photographer.) Both men thrive on being able to help you understand nature and photography and are more than happy to answer your questions, hold your reflector, explain your equipment, and brush caterpillars off you head to help you do just that, understand.
I often shoot alone and I am timid about going to unknown locations. Great Lakes Classes are offered in several Michigan locations and have given me the opportunity to explore a new place in the safety of a group and decide if I would feel comfortable returning alone. There chosen locations have proven to be safe and delightful jewels with varied and interesting subjects.
I am happy to recommend Mark, Bob and Great Lakes Photo to anyone interested in furthering their photographic skills and their knowledge of nature. read more
