Maybe I'm just going at quieter times now, but I'm not really having the to-go problem from the previous review anymore. So 5 stars again for delicious sandwiches, baked goods, and drinks, and for a welcoming atmosphere. See below review for deets.

The matcha latte was really good, and there's decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating! It's quite loud during the busier hours but still a great place to work.

Small place hidden gem at the campus. Sadly I found this place in my last year of UBC. I found for their Jeremy Sandwiches! Super good focaccia served with salami and balsamic dressing. Portion is large but I can eat them all in one sitting cuz they r so good.

This is a 'must' place to visit at UBC for coffee and baked goods. They have really yummy scones ( the London Fog) and solid coffee drinks. They always have seasonal items and almost everything is made in house! You will often seen local residents and staff visiting this cafe! Fun fact: The great dane is actually in honour of the owners great dane, Lady - who sadly passed away last year.

The best café on UBC campus for quality coffee, tea lattes, pastries, and sandwiches!

their London fog scone= good buttery taste, crunchy outside but soft inside eventho it's always packed the staffs are always sweet and helpful! also gives such a nice winter vibe enjoying your afternoon tea in front of a fireplace

I've been here a couple of times when I'm on campus; Great Dane is in a relatively good spot if you're walking through certain areas, and it has better opening hours than some other coffee shops. The layout is a little awkward - very narrow, and it's unclear where drinks end up when they're done as it seems to change - but overall it's a nice space. The food and drinks aren't bad either - the mochas are nice, if a little heavy on the coffee, and the cookies are simple and sweet. Nothing really grabs my attention or taste buds; other places have nicer drinks or chewier cookies or fudgier brownies or whatever. But this is still certainly a nice place to drop by if you're looking for a coffee shop.

Best coffee on campus. Small food selection. If they had GF bread available for the soup + sandwiches it would be 5/5. I wish there were some couches so I could sit for longer inside (but I think ppl would never leave.. Bonus- there's a fireplace outside. Lovely in the cold weather.

Espresso

* Doesn't live up to the name * A business should be named after the core of of the business, right? So based upon the name I thought the specialty of this semi-new cafe would be espresso. The espresso was proper colour, but the crema was almost non-existent and what was there quickly dissipated. That leads me to the unfortunate conclusion - old beans. Sad. Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/IXalA8YHYKQHCw2mmw7SWA?select=v6YpPj-L94ij992Ilc9AYg The turkey and swiss sandwich was grilled, and the outside was crispy but the inside was still fridge cold. The turkey was supermarket variety - but sliced nice and thick - that was a nice aspect of the sandwich. The cheese was very mild and still a bit hard from the fridge. Photo: http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/IXalA8YHYKQHCw2mmw7SWA?select=Np68Mtfd4X6ccs6OCpPmAA The sandwich came plated with an optional (+$1) spinach salad which was overdressed in parts and entirely underdressed in others. The dressing was a fairly low quality balsamic based dressing that was not balanced. This is literally the first cafe house that I visited, after coming to Vancouver from India. The coffee here is pretty great.

They do Latte art! Would've gave 5 stars but too crowded with students, so 4 it is. Cute and cozy place.

If I lived anywhere west of Kitsilano, I'd be here all the time. The smoothest espresso.

Can't believe I just discovered this place - it's easy to miss since it's hidden in Fairview…read moreCrescent at UBC, a bit separated from the main campus, but worth the visit if you're looking to broaden your horizons. It seems to be a family-run business and they offer an eclectic assortment of food and drink: the standard coffee shop fare of sandwiches, baked goods, and coffee/tea, plus milkshakes, smoothies, tteok bokki, and some interesting desserts to round it out. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of everything I ordered! I got the Pesto Melt Bagel, Tiramisu, and an Apple Cider. The bagel was grilled lightly (any less would have been not enough, but I liked the way they did it, which gave it a little crispness and warmth without loosing the fresh texture), the tomatoes were fresh, and it wasn't too oily, which is sometimes a problem for me on this type of sandwich. The tiramisu was nice and a little bit different from the usual since it was more like a trifle or parfait than a cake slice. I liked the custardy mascarpone layers and the syrupy espresso sauce at the bottom. Finally, the apple cider was really good. It came with a piece of dried apple and lemon slice and had a spicy flavour, and was sweetened tastefully. The prices are pretty fair (cheaper than other UBC coffee shops). The shop itself is really cozy - it feels like walking into a home - they have lots of couches in addition to regular tables and chairs, and there's also seating upstairs which I didn't check out. The staff also seem to be very nice. I do think it would be nice if they had more vegetarian sandwiches, but otherwise I'm really happy to have finally tried this place, and definitely will be back again.

I pay the tip, and they still ask me to take the tray by myself. I even walk out from the store,…read moreand they ask me to come back and return the tray from table to the counter.

I've been here a few times, and it consistently feels like your friendly neighborhood bakery. They usually put on something for the hot chocolate festival and that's always fun. On my last visit, I had a mango lemonade - you heard that right! It was creamy and delicious how the mango played with the lemonade, sweet and tart at the same time. It was later in the day, so the display case for lunch options was looking a little on the sold-out side. I chose the curry chickpea sandwich, they heated it up and served it with a salad on the side. This sandwich was everything. The chickpeas were mashed into a delightful spread and there was something in there that I couldn't place (sweet potato maybe?) but whatever it was only added to making the sandwich so yummy! The decor feels very vintage meets grandmother's house. I love how the plates are mismatched and the display case is filled with gorgeous-looking pastries. The staff here are all very friendly and help with suggestions too. No complaints here!
