I grew my hair really long during the pandemic for 11 months and was excited to get a haircut that I like base on a picture I got from the internet. I showed 2 pictures to the hairstylist, Melissa, and I decided to go with the one I like with long strands that I can comb over (see attached picture). Trusting that she knows what she can do and I have been using this location for many years now, I asked her to go ahead and cut my hair base on the picture. As we were about in the middle of the haircut, I ask Melissa to stop because I noticed she was cutting my hair too short and looks nothing compared to the picture. I was stunned when I inspected closely using a hand mirror. She did not follow what is in the picture! I felt really horrible that I can't undo now that my hair is too short. You can clearly see it in the picture my hair is too short and looks like a mop top. Now she tried to explain that the one in the picture is done by a barber and that there's difference between a barber and salon. My goodness! Why do I need to know between a barber and salon? Is Great Clips just a salon? You obviously are doing haircut like barber does! I obviously came here for a haircut and she should have known better. What a terrible answer to give to a customer. If they cannot do such haircut, why would they have hairstyling magazines and posters in their salon? If she is a professional hairstylist, she could have clearly warned me before she started using the razor and that she cannot do what is in the picture. This lady was so reckless, negligent and should not be in this business of haircutting because she is not clearly careful and unprofessional. Well, I ended up agreeing to complete my haircut and left miserable and regretful. Now I feel I don't want to leave the house without a cap on. Sigh! I wished I could have just kept my long hair than ending up living with this horrible haircut. I was disappointed to learn the owner allowed the manager, Lisa, to leave because she found a better position at Supercuts for more money. Lisa was my stylist for at least 5 years and was the best stylist there because she knew how to do a proper fade. I've tried all the other stylists there but they always left me with a "bowl cut", looking like "Forest Gump". Now I have to go to Supercuts on 620 in Round Rock because I don't want a "jacked-up" haircut from inexperienced stylists. Turned away at the door rudely by an employee who refused to provide excellent customer service by allowing one last customer in. I was a long term customer and was in dire need of a haircut. This location was closed during the week of the arctic storm where Austin area had no power or water. So I went back last week on Friday and to my dismay they were still closed. So I went back today (Sunday 2/28) right at 6pm. Figured they would let me in since it was right at 6pm. The employee refused to open the door and hear me out as I tried to explain that the online check-in feature wasn't working and to please cut my hair. She rudely declined and I decided right then and there that if this is the low level of customer service GC allows from its employees, my money is better spent elsewhere. I'm extremely offended and won't be returning to this location - EVER! read more

90% of the time I come here for myself and my 3 boys. They meet our needs for standard haircuts. The stylists could be a but more friendly or engaging. Some times they have christian rock music on, which makes me want to die, it is torture. Luckily this only happens during long waits, which isn't often. I walked in and was immediately seated which was great. I requested a cut informing her I wanted to cut off as much of my old color as she could without losing any length. As she's cutting, she tells me she can't wait to get off because she had a late night, small talk. As she's finalizing my layers, I begin to think that she hasn't cut enough to warrant an actual haircut. So when she's finished, she hands me the mirror to check the back out and my hair essentially looked the same. I told her "maybe we can cut off a little more" (bc id actually like to feel like I'm paying for something) and her first response was "are you serious?". Uhh....are you serious, Vicki? I immediately tell her it's fine (bc id like for this experience to end already) and she goes on to I guess make up for her comment and explains the layers are there, etc. and even lifts my hair to show the layers. First time I went I got a cut for a wedding and it was perfect, this last time I went in I got a very nice fade and was perfect. I've yet to have any bad service here. Checked in online again and they listed me as a walk in so I got helped before my online check in. It's sad because this is always our Great Clips and we like the people here but they always do this. This is the 2nd time this has happened to me, I posted a review about it, spoke to someone over Yelp and removed my post as asked and here we are again. When you check in online beware that they don't check you fully in as a walk in. 2/13/19: 4th time this has happened. I try to give them a chance. A new one opened in Hutto. Spoke to the manager last time since a few times they actually checked me in normally. Sadly, this time was the last time. I'm on an HOA board and I will make sure my word of mouth goes a lot way. 2 people who checked in online, after I did, arrived after me were seen first. We've been going there for years and have put up with a few attitudes from stylists over the years but today was it!!! We checked in on-line as usual and had a 13 minute wait. We step into the store and a girl one step ahead of us did not check in on line and I know this because they asked her and then proceeded to check her in online once they confirmed that I had checked in. Yet when that same stylist came available she took the girl ahead of us first. Another lady walked in with two kids and she had not checked in online either and they told her it would be a 43 min wait she said okay and they checked in her kids. 5 min later (by then we've been waiting an extra 10 min above our checkin wait time of 13 min) a male stylist called my child up who is 11, she said at last minute she wanted a female to cut her hair. The male stylist graciously said it was okay and took one of the kids from the lady that had a 43 min wait. The first stylist snapped at the male stylist and said what's their problem?! What happened?!! He said, nothing happened the child wants a female to do her hair, nothing happened. Another man with two boys walks in and all three had checked in online. The next female stylist who checked them in took his son right away. When I asked her why and that my child should be next she did not answer and the customer told me that it's because he checked in before me. And she proceeded to take him. Not only did the screen show my child was next in line but we had already been waiting 20 min by now AFTER our arrival time and AFTER our initial wait of 13 Minutes and BEFORE this gentleman with two boys had arrived! Not only were they not that busy but I feel they were offended when my child decided she wanted a female stylist and they bumped her to the bottom of the list!!! We walked out and after years of being their customers, we will gladly move on!!! read more

Not only is the service terrible (except for Rose), but the online check-in is a joke. The website states "0 Minute Wait Time" for online check-in so when I get to the location I am told not only are two people ahead of me online but another four people are waiting already. Zero minutes huh... I am not going to wait an hour for a second-rate haircut. I am not impressed and I strongly advise against visiting this location.
