I will never take my kids here again. My husband took my kids to get their hair cut here. We only asked for an inch cut off the bottom of my daughters hair. Her hair is long to her mid-back and the stylist didn't even wet her hair to trim it first of all so, I had to take her back and had her redo it. She didn't even wash or wet her hair the first time then I had to ask her to blow dry it to see if it was even, the ends were still not dry when she told me to come look at it so I asked her to use a round brush on it and she told me it would be more because that is considered a hair style. Good place for a cheap cut. If you have a picture of the cut you want, DO NOT let Mayra touch your head! I showed the pic she briefly glanced at it and instantly assumed she knew what I wanted. I offered to show the photo again. She refused. The know-it-all was so clueless she did not want to be disabused of her false notion. When a coworker asked her what she was doing she replied she was giving me the same haircut a worker at the nearby coffee shop has. Not even CLOSE to what I asked for. When I realized I would be walking out with my hair way too short on the sides as so awkwardly long on top, I begged her to stop instantly. She just kept going. The top of my head weighs about 5 lbs. I read reviews on here before going and saw that there was a complaint about joseph on here. well i went anyway to try it out and luck of the draw i got joseph. i was a bit nervous but when he called me up, he was more than professional, unlike what that other customer said. he explained everything he was doing and also listened to what i wanted out of my haircut. Even when I was walking out a woman came up to me and said that she always sees Joseph and that I should request him next time. I think I might have to do that. So he obviously was misjudged by this person who posted something bad about him. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again Joseph for the great service and haircut. I should have the read the reviews before I walked into great clips, latley I have been on a budget and I seriously needed my hair trimed my hair is consider long so I do have enough to to trim, at least 3-4 inches how ever the back of my hair is not the promblem it's the front, I look like I am about 3 years old with a bowl cut that I didn't sit still, I promise myself that I will never get a cheap haircut again! Great Clips is what it is - a cheap place to get your hair cut. I have had both positive and negative experiences here but it just depends on the stylist as some are better than others. What I want to say is that I genuinely feel that this shop does care about customer satisfaction. I got a questionable cut earlier this week and went back twice to have it redone. I think both stylists that helped me wanted me to leave happy and genuinely tried to fix my hair. I'm now happy with the result and wanted other people to know that IMO they care. Nothing beats going to the same person who knows exactly what you like but if you are short on cash I wouldn't hesitate to go here. read more

One of my most delicate and touchy matters is a haircut. We've all had those disastrous cuts before and some good ones here and there. Great Clips..Probably the best place in Long Beach to get a hair cut. I've lived here for most of my life and I am more than happy and satisfied with the customer service. They can read you if you're not really a chatty type or not which I really like because I sometimes just want to come in and get my haircut and leave. Definitely worth the money if you know what you like. I've come in several times not really knowing what I want and they are patient and work with you all the way through, no questions asked or attitude about it. I love that. Very much. They have earned my business for life, and the online check-in system? Oh forget about it. Totally worth doing if you want to be sure you have a spot in line as opposed to just hoping you'll be helped as soon as you arrive. Have had my hair cut @ GC in the past, but not at this location. I don't recommend it, at least not a newer stylist, Addy, who is a nice enough person, but only with about 6 months experience since finishing her education. Cut my hair wrong the first time (not the style I described) so we looked at photos. I showed her the one closest to what I wanted, when she was done, so was I. My hair looks nearly nothing like the photo. It's cut very short in the back, which is ok, but there is no connection between the back and the front. Like a hairstyle created by a committee. Really poor job. I'm hoping it grows out REALLY fast. Meantime I may need to wear a hat all spring/summer. If you are having just a trim, you might be safe with this young lady, otherwise pick someone/somewhere else. read more

From now on when I read pro's & con's of a business I will follow the advice. I sort of shrugged off the cons because I had a perm & it out exactly what I wanted! And the stylist Kara that did it got a horrible review but she was very warm & friendly to me. The woman that came to help seemed cordual. When I told her what I wanted, she kept going on & on about how well she doesnthat hairdo. I was very nervous about cutting my hair, but I needed a lift. I closed my eyes & waited. I kept reminding her I didn't want it too short. When she said she was finished I opened my eyes & started to cry. She kept telling me how good the back looked. When I saw it I just wanted out of there. It was not anything I asked for!!! My hair was below my shoulders, now it is about 1 wish long in the back & the front looks like a dutch boy! I will never go to this place again, bad attitude from a blond stylist whom worked the evening of 05/06/2015 8pm ish. As I am a previous customer and many in our community are. We were eating next door and one of our children managed to get gum in her their hair and I walked in and asked for a small pair of scissors to just snip it out, I was told NO and if the stylist were to do it she would charge me a full haircut!! I argued with her saying are you serious? and reminded her that if it wasn't for continuous clients like us she wouldn't have a pay check. I will never be returning. This is my first ever yelp review, but I feel so inclined to share this experience. I just left this salon where I had my 3 son's get a hair cut. The stylist Rocio left my youngest son's neck all marked up and red from digging the trimmer into his neck. Early on I told my son that if it hurt to tell me because he can be quiet and timid. I was surprised to see the markings when she was done. I asked her right away what had happened and she said it was because he was pulling his neck forward. I told her that I had not see him fidgeting and that my boy's have always been cooperative with stylists and that this had never happened. She responded that they would not charge for his hair cut. It was obvious she knew she was wrong. The other 2 stylists that cut my other son's hair were ok, but I have to say that the entire salon was so gloomy, hardly any smiles. Here's a little story. I came to this location late last year and had the pleasure of having my hair cut by Katrina, whom executed exactly what I described to her. I came again a few months later and wanted a change. She convinced me to take off a lot more than I originally wanted to, but to my delight it turned out great! So, I moved to the north end of town a little while later and ended up trying the Lakewood location. No. Bueno. The gal chopped off waaaaaaay more than I asked her to. :( So the next time I was ready for a cut, I made the trek back to the Circle. This time someone else cut my hair other than Katrina and I instantly regretted it. I ended up having to come back and have Katrina (yaaaaaaay!!!) re-do my cut. And now I'm a happy camper. I got my haircut here because I usually make an appointment with my hair STYLIST and it takes 2 weeks to see her, and I missed my appointment. So I had to go here to Great Clips to just get a quick temporary cut, and NEVER again will I come here. I gave the lady CLEAR instructions on what I wanted, and she totally just ignored me. I had to make sure I kept an eye on what she was doing because she would have just cut everything off with nothing left. Sure enough, she did not follow my instructions and then picks up the mirror and says how do I like my clip. I had to tell her a 3rd time that she sis not do what I asked her to do, and I told her to listen, pay attention, and follow my instructions. Coming here is like having to micromanage them and make sure they do what I ask them to do, because they clearly don't know how to listen to their customer. I usually bring my family of 5 here but no longer. read more

For the most part this location is ok. Very busy location, will only allow online through app to be put on list. Called this location last week when I was on the road & unable to use app or internet check in, so I called ahead to see if I could put my name on the list. There is a new recording now before a person picks up the phone, regardless when someone picked up the phone I stated I was unable to check in online due to driving (hands free), the person said sorry you have to check in online we are not allowed to put you on the list anymore. The wait was 45min. Again I explained why I could not, the response was sorry we don't do that anymore, you can still come in and wait, see you soon & Was hung up on. Needless to say I went somewhere else. What happened to this location? The franchise owner also has two others I know of, maybe the change was made by them. I think this is a salon with worst customer service. They are open till 6pm on Sunday. I entered the shop at 5:40 pm which was showing sign as OPEN. As soon as I entered the shop one "hair specialist" is nodding her head. I ask her what does that means? She replied we are closed. When I asked that your shop window list open till 6pm then she said that we have 3 customers waiting and then only we can close by 6 pm :)... I walked in at 6p on Sunday and was told that the estimated wait was 27 min. I went next door and came back 20 min later and they said they had already closed, they were still cutting one guys hair. I reminded them of my wait time they gave me and they said "well you have to be here". What? Here's a warning for you all...although I am usually pretty satisfied with the haircuts and service I have received here, recently I got a wash and haicut and decided to get it blowdried (which I normally do myself). Well...ugly surprise at the checkout. My 16.00 wash and cut turned into a 46.00 wash, cut and blowdry (shoulder length hair) YIKES!! I come here for the good prices but I feel I got screwed on this one. I should have been advised of the price. Lesson learned...don't you make the same mistake. read more

I now only ask for Kara and go to her every 4 weeks and have never, ever had a problem with her attitude. She is always very professional and knows very well what she is doing. I now have family that go to only her as well and I have never heard them have anything bad to say about her. It has been about one week since my haircut. I love it! I was talked into cutting 10" of my hair, and donating it to "Locks of Love". I am so happy I did! I have always wanted to do it, I just needed that little push! Not only did I do a good thing, but I also got a really great new look out of it.
