The lady was really nice, but she made my hair look like a staircase. I had to go home and cut it myself. I asked for layers and she gave me a minor trim...which I'm glad that she didn't ruin it too. But she split my hair in hair in three and cut it separately without comparing it and made it kind of uneven. I have curly hair so it's pretty forgiving on cuts but the I did have to go in myself to fix it for this one. And somehow when she was trying to give me a frame it hurt and I think it's because she didn't take enough hair to do it..making it look like a staircase. Also the guy next to her gave her a brush that wouldn't hurt as much and she still stuck with the small comb. read more

This place is hit or miss. I have had times I have brought my son here and had a great haircut, but there are times I've come and the final product was worse than when I walked in. The people are friendly and the place is clean. You can register online for an appointment to speed things up. If you are a walk in and don't have an appointment, they will manually add you to they system, so it's more effective to add yourself before you even arrive. If you are lucky to get the short older lady when arrive, you are pretty much guaranteed a great haircut, other than her, you may be taking a gamble. This was the worst haircut ever! I have been growing my hair for two years to be able to have this one look. I wanted to celebrate my weight loss with a new hair cut. I showed the woman the picture and clarified long layers and curtain bangs that came to my lips. She took off way more layers and did not understand how to blend layers. She kept taking my hair off until I cried that I had enough and was leaving. She blamed me and my hair texture! I have straight hair!!! I would contact the State Board if I had her info. Another worker had to step in and salvage the haircut. My hair is super short and looks terrible. I've spent 3 hours tracking down another salon to do extensions because I look hideous and don't want to go to work. I hate this place and can't recommend it. read more

My son and I had our worst haircut experience this past Sunday Feb 18th at Mcdermott and Alma location of great clips in Allen TX  (1314 W McDermott Dr, Unit 112, Allen, TX 75013). Russell cut my son's hair and Lan cut my hair. My son is 8 yo and painfully shy/introverted. He gets the same haircut every 1- 2 months. This time Russell cut his hair. I showed him the last haircut pictures and explained what needed to be done. I then started getting my own hair cut by Lan. I could see that Russell was not handling my son gently, he was a bit rough. He was pushing his head a bit excessively. Later my son told me he was scared which makes me sad and angry. On top of that Russell did not cut his hair well. The hard part is very wide, it is not in the same place as his earlier parting, He cut the wrong side hair very short and made a weird box kind of appearance on the front where part ends. On the back the edge is not defined. And the haircut does not look finished on the back of his head with hair lengths not uniform. Please see attached pics. Lan cut my hair and was impatient the whole time. She rushed through it, handling was rough to the point of almost hitting me a couple of times. I saw my son was uncomfortable with Russell so requested Lan to pause so I could check on him. I made a quick check and asked Russell if he had any questions. It took less than a minute, but even that was too long for Lan and she was impatiently calling me back. After the haircut, we noticed the issues with my son's haircut. When we provided feedback that the hard parting for my son was not done well, Russell was loud, aggressive and disrespectful. He blamed the bad haircut on my son by saying that he was moving a lot during the haircut. I was right there when he was cutting my son's hair and never heard him instructing my son to not move or tell me about it.  I had to ask Russell multiple times to calm down so we could have a civil conversation but he continued to be loud, rude and disrespectful. Then Lan came out to the front desk. I provided her feedback about our bad experience but she too became defensive and rude. We asked to speak to the manager and Lan and Russell refused to give us their manager's contact saying they were on a vacation. At this time I did not know Lan's name and when I asked for it, she refused to tell me her name. I found it on the receipt. This is by far the worst experience we have had at great clips in the 10+ years we have come to different locations for our haircut. I have attached pictures. It is unfortunate my son had to experience this. Hope Great Clips as a business can do something to remedy the situation so it does not happen to other people again, especially kids. The worst hair cut ever!!!!! Took my little son here and a lady named patty did a terrible job. You could see where the machine cut the hair and not blended at all. Had to come back and have a different lady across from her fix it. Well made the mistake and came back and brought my 14 year old son. A lady named Nikki was the one that ended up doing his hair cut. The lady didn't even speak proper English or something, because told her TAPER and a FADE as so did my son in the chair!!!!! She didn't listen to a single thing we said and brought his hair line up! Didn't taper a thing! If you don't know what a taper is, why don't you ask your client?? At the end I said this is taper and showed her a picture. Returned after a previous great visit. The woman cutting said she was ready for me. I said "Ok, I want a high and tight with a flat top." No, the told me she doesn't cut beards. I repeated and said hair cut. I go to the chair and she asked me what kind of hair cut. I repeat High and Tight. She said she didn't know that. Took me by surprise, I pulled up a picture on my phone of my last hair cut there. I should have left then. I didn't and that's my fault. I ended up with #3 across the top before I could stop her. It is short on the side, no fade. It's not close to the picture I showed. More like a bad military hair cut done in the barracks by your buddy. High and Tight Flat top may not be the most popular cut, but something a place that does men's hair cuts should know or at least recognize after seeing a picture. I left after paying and went to the grocery store next door. I get a call, that I let go to voice mail, from the manager that the payment timed out and could I come back and pay. I would pay for my groceries go back... stuff happens, I understand. I am in line and the woman who cut my hair told me my credit card is no good. I need to pay cash now. That is pretty embarrassing in a crowded check out line, especially since that was not the case. I said I would be there when I was finished paying for my groceries. She came back to me two more times demanding I go back now. I told I will be there as soon as I am done ringing up my two items of groceries. She stood there and waited for me to follow her back. The manager had to ring me up because the employee who cut my hair didn't know how to redo the transaction. I told the manager what happened in the grocery store and she apologized and said she did not send the employee after me. I believed the manager. I've been here for a quick in between cut numerous times...this was my last. There is a foreign man cutting hair(I could not recall the spelling of his name from his license). I've got thinning hair...I know this, I live with it, I'm not in denial...but this is the fourth time this man has made a joke about it...he said, " how much off the top, nothing!?"...with a nice laugh at the end. He then grilled me, my age, how long I've had thinning hair, etc....the questions are fine, if done in a professional manner...and if you remember the first three times! There are too many places to get a cut to deal w this. I tipped the guy 10% just to avoid confrontation but I will simply not go here again...unfortunately he perpetuates the stereotype of the "rude foreigner "! We drive 5 miles past the other GC to come to this location now after a disastrous haircut for him one time there. Dee is our cutter of choice. I just recently found out about a great clips on Alma and Hedgcoxe over next to the TomThumb and they didn't have any wait and they listen to how you want your hair cut done. I usually don't go to great clips and have a trusted hair stylist in my college town, but as a visiting college student who is home for the holidays, I thought I would just go in for a trim to check an errand off my to do list. How badly can a trim go? Apparently it can go pretty poorly. I asked the stylist to cut off 1-1.5 inches of hair as I love my hair length but wanted to remove split ends. She cut off nearly 4 inches. After the cut was done, she did not dust off the cut hair or brush through my hair leaving me covered in hair. Will not be going back. read more

The asian stylist was superb, was patient and all. But the other "stylist" ladies: RUDE. Brought a toddler in in need of a cut and of course he was crying like it was the end of world. First time I got my hair cut there. The manager cut my hair and did an Ok job, nothing to write home about, she did it way too quick and it was definitely a rush job. What really upset me is that it was a $15 hair cut and I gave her a $20 and she didn't bother asking if I wanted any change back. Was here on 11/17. A Stylist by name MITRA RAMOCH attended to my hair. She was extremely rude. Even before the completion of hair cut, she walked me to the cash register. She also mentioned that there were nice hair salon's in Addison and that i should consider that place as i work there. The haircut was ok, how hard is a clipper cut? But the clipper and attachments were not clean!! They still had hair (obvious large amounts) from previous cuts on them. Eww. How hard is it to drop the attachments in a cleaner and brush off / blow off the hair from previous customers. I will NOT be going back. Walked in around 5:05, apparently they closed at 5 this day instead of 6. First red flag, she said she could trim my bangs which was all I needed. Second red flag, she wet my bangs before cutting them. She cut them in about a minute (she was rushing to leave) and left them wet for me to leave so I had no idea what they looked like. I told her what I had wanted so I assumed that when I dried them at home they would look alright- I was very wrong. There's a chunk missing where I asked her to taper them into my longer length hair, and they are extremely uneven. I've hacked at them for about 15 minutes and they are slightly tolerable now, but don't go here for a bang trim unless you want to cry and wear a hat for a week. (Disappointing because I've had a better experience here, but now I will not be back) read more

Took my son here for a haircut today, the barber cut the back of his neck with the clippers. His neck has several cuts that were bleeding. I showed her his cuts and expressed my concerns. She told me to put powder on his neck to stop the bleeding. I then asked the barber if they disinfected the clippers after each customer . She showed me a spray that they are supposed to spray on the clippers after each customer. I watched her prepare her station before my son was called for his haircut and she did NOT spray anything. I'm contacting the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to file a health and safety complaint. read more

Terrible service. Other than Patty, I don't think much of any of the hairdressers. My hair is short and pretty much easy to cut and there is only one person there that can get it right and that is Patty. I have tried others and they just are not any good. The shop is managed by Behnaz. I had a horrible haircut there by Le today and she pretty much asked me to come back and have Patty fix it. I have been there where Behnaz was free but won't take on a client. I am not sure what her job is as a manager. As for Le, she refused to listen and when asked to do it the way I liked she ended up yelling at me. I tried to call the owner twice and have texted him a message. I have pictures of the horrible haircut and will be sending them to the licensing board. Never going back to that place again. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. For this place wasting my time. I went in there simply to buy a gift card. The lady cutting hair came over the help me, I dont know how many times I said I needed to JUST buy a gift card. First off, she barely spoke decent english so I had a hard enough time trying to understand what she was asking me. Literally, after about 15 minutes of her asking my information I once again, questioned her on why she was needing all of this information just to buy a gift card. She then looks up at me and goes "oh we don't have any." yep, lost a customer right there. I just walked out because I didn't want to make a scene and yell at her for wasting my time. I have proceeded to tell my friends not to go there as well. And they just lost a good amount of money for the giftcard I was going to purchase. Actually the worst customer-employee experienceS I've ever had. Yup, I gave this place multiple chances cause they're haircuts are so cheap. Well now I know why they are so damn cheap, every time I go to this location I have gotten an assortment of elderly women whose English couldn't pass a kindergarten class. As soon as they sit me down they start talking to each other in their own language and choose to do whatever the hell they want with your hair. I tell them every time what I want as clear as i can be, then they just nod and start cutting. It's like they group their customers in age groups and give everyone in that age group the same boring haircut where they trim the sides and cut WAY too much off the top. This time I stopped the lady while she was doing her own thing and very politely told her that she was cutting way to much off the top than what I told her. I was not prepared for what happened next... she started attacking me saying "you come to haircut but not want me to cut hair", I even apologized to her cause she looked like she was about to cry, then she said "I'm not an expert hair cutter, you're crazy get out of here". Dee cut my hair today and refuted every request I made. I was growing my hair and it took two years to get it from mid-back to below hips with the intention of selling it. I asked her to cut it straight across, and she cut it into a "v" shape. I asked for a shampoo before the cut and she refused, saying that she would do it afterwards. Even afterwards, she gave me a hard time about giving me a wash. When she finally did, she would not use hot water during the shampoo, only ice cold water and very little shampoo, no lather. I asked for her to leave the length of the hair alone, and she cut off about 15 inches. She kept putting my hair down very loudly and with her station being toward the front, everyone in the waiting area could hear quite plainly how "dry" and "unhealthy" it was (it's not) and kept repeating, "too long! too long!" At one point, she grabbed my hair and thrust it into my chin, to my surprise, and said, "Look at those split ends! Terrible!" I wanted to strangle her for being so disrespectful, unprofessional, and rude. What business was it of hers? I had not come in for a hair analysis and did not appreciate the lecture nor the attention-getting loud voice and gestures. Her English was broken but she apparently understood what I wanted, promising not to cut the length other than one inch, and yet that's exactly what she did - she cut 15 inches off. I've lost more than $500 for what the hair was going to sell (offered $1000 for every 12 inches). She will not listen to you nor respect what you ask of her. She does what she wants to do. She kept pulling at the tangles in my hair, yanking so hard that it hurt, but she wouldn't let me untangle it. The comb she used had someone else's hair in it. In hindsight, I should have left early on but thought that I would at least be able to get my trim. I came home shaking and was trying to hold back tears - all I wanted was a trim and instead lost all that hair. It means two more years of waiting. She had no right to take that hair and friends with similar experiences tell me that some hairdressers will cut as much as they can of your long hair in order to sell it. I would not recommend her nor this place and meanwhile need to deal with the loss. Beware! read more
