This has happened to me 3 times over the years --we have several drivers and a small fleet of high quality family vehicles (Lexus, Toyota--all new-ish, very safe and very well maintained). Each of these rejections were extremely picky and when I take the same car to another shop, the car passes inspection. Only problem is, they go to report the success and Jiffy Lube has already reported the failure, so the other shop has no recourse to change it. I had to make unwanted modifications to my car due to this policy--absolutely nothing to do with safety or proper function of the car. I had NO idea this was coming--completely shocked. What you think is a quick inspection and you will be on your way, ends up taking all day and part of the next. Even the visit to Jiffy Lube took a long time that day--but that was just the beginning. The manager admitted they are strict and explained they are harsh because they have been fined in the past for missing important safety problems. He says he cannot give the vehicle owner a "heads up" that the car might fail inspection. SO, I would AVOID this station for registration inspections. To happen once it might be a fluke, twice I should have known better to go there --three times on top quality cars is a problem with the shop. I cannot change them, but I will avoid giving my business in the future. When I explained my dilemma to the DMV representative (because my initial registration of the vehicle was a day late), he said it is extremely rare that this issue flagged for rejection. He told me "it depends on the shop, most would not find fault with the car for that reason." I sure hope corporate Jiffy Lube takes into account the opinions and inconveniences of their loyal customers and realizes that company policy should not be to aggressively reject vehicles at any cost--Rigid policies are typically not very good ones.

The truck has been well maintained and has received full-synthetic oil changes approximately every 5,000 miles. The upselling started when an employee brought out two separate oil-system/engine-cleaning additives. I was told that my engine had mild sludge buildup, with the supposed evidence being some oil residue on the underside of the oil-fill cap. I found that recommendation questionable on a well-maintained modern engine with only 30,000 miles. More importantly, Ford specifically states in the owner's manual that supplemental engine-oil additives are unnecessary and may lead to engine damage that is not covered by warranty. I declined both products. The technician then returned with my cabin air filter, which I had replaced at my previous oil change, and my K&N engine air filter. He told me both were dirty and recommended replacing them. The K&N recommendation was particularly concerning because it is a washable and reusable air filter. I initially thought he might have misspoken, so I specifically asked whether he was recommending that I replace the K&N filter. He said yes. I told him I would clean and service it myself when necessary and declined both replacements. The final issue came after I paid and returned to my truck. The service sticker they placed in the windshield listed my next service at only 3,000 additional miles, despite having just performed a full-synthetic oil change. Ford equips this truck with an Intelligent Oil Life Monitor that determines oil-change intervals based on actual operating conditions. Even the conservative 5,000-mile interval I have voluntarily been following is substantially longer than the 3,000-mile interval on their sticker. Following their recommendation instead would result in approximately 67% more oil changes over the same mileage, wasting both time and money. Any one of these things by itself might be reasonable . Taken together they left me with the impression that this location's service process is driven more by maximizing sales than by the actual maintenance requirements of the vehicle.

It's just too conveniently close to work for me to actually take my car somewhere else! Anyway, the service has been great and they're very fast. I like that they are tied in with the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule for my cars, that way I know they're not just trying to sell me something I don't need. I increased this from 2 stars to 4 stars. I'm a fan. **END UPDATE**END UPDATE**END UPDATE We moved to UT and were happy with Jiffy Lube there, so I stuck with them and this location was near work. I've used this location for both of our cars multiple times. Usually the experience is allright. They try to upsell every little thing, which I understand, but it gets annoying after a while. Anyway, I went in to get a safety & emission test so we could license our van in UT. They offered a free safety & emission test if we also had the oil changed, but I declined because we were in a hurry and didn't have time to do an oil change right then. The DMV closed at 6 and it was 5pm. I asked if they could make an exception and let me come in the next day since I was obviously a loyal customer. They declined. So I paid $50. got home that evening and on the counter was a coupon for $15 off the safety & emission test. So I called the next day around 5pm and nobody answered the phone. Called the day after that and was told they couldn't honor the coupon. I told them I would be finding somewhere else to get my oil changed from now on. I have two vehicles and change the oil regularly. In Colorado I used Jiffy Lube for all of my regular scheduled maintenance and had some done here too. I probably spend close to $1,000 per year at Jiffy Lube...so that was a poor decision on their part.

Disappointing. I have been with the Riverton location since it opened. I've had multiple cars…read moreserviced there and spent thousands of dollars over the years. Outside of a couple of small issues, the overall experience has been positive...until last week. Last Wednesday, the check engine light in my Jeep came on. I took it over to OReillys to have them run a diagnostic. The O2 sensor was bad. I took the Jeep and the OReillys printout over to Burt Bros on Thursday, told them about the result and asked them if they could take a look. A few hours later, Todd called me and confirmed the result. He quoted me $354.50 to replace the sensor, and asked me if I wanted to update the PCM while it was there (another $325.00). I told him no on the PCM and to go ahead and replace the sensor. I picked the vehicle up on Friday and there was an additional charge of $155.00 for running a diagnostic. I questioned the counter help as I didn't recall ever being charged for a diagnostic if I got the work done there. I had also given them the OReilly result, and just asked them to confirm. The place was very busy so I just paid the total, $557.45, and went home to look at some past invoices (I still had a handful from previous visits). Sure enough, I had not been charged for a diagnosis when I had had the work done there. I called back to the shop to talk to Todd. I explained the situation. He told me that they always charge for a diagnostic when a car comes in. I told him that I had a bunch of invoices in front of me that said differently. He told me to remind him about what happened the next time I came in and that he would take care of me. That could be months. It's not likely he'd even remember. I told him I didn't like that answer. He said that there was nothing else that he could do because my card had already been charged. I reminded him that he could easily credit the card the $155.00. He told me that he would have to take it to his manager and that he (the manager) would call me if he had any questions. Friday - nothing. Saturday - nothing. Monday - nothing. My card has not been credited and I have not heard back from Burt Bros. No business is perfect. I don't expect them to be. Shoot, the St. George location made some repairs on my daughter's car without even getting authorization. Stuff happens. Just make it right when they do. Will I go back to Burt Bros? Probably. They do good work. Customers just want to be treated fairly and honestly.
