I have…read moreseveral vehicles all in great shape and on several occasions they FAIL the inspection at this station. This has happened to me 3 times over the years --we have several drivers and a small fleet of high quality family vehicles (Lexus, Toyota--all new-ish, very safe and very well maintained). Each of these rejections were extremely picky and when I take the same car to another shop, the car passes inspection. Only problem is, they go to report the success and Jiffy Lube has already reported the failure, so the other shop has no recourse to change it. I had to make unwanted modifications to my car due to this policy--absolutely nothing to do with safety or proper function of the car. I had NO idea this was coming--completely shocked. What you think is a quick inspection and you will be on your way, ends up taking all day and part of the next. Even the visit to Jiffy Lube took a long time that day--but that was just the beginning. The manager admitted they are strict and explained they are harsh because they have been fined in the past for missing important safety problems. He says he cannot give the vehicle owner a "heads up" that the car might fail inspection. SO, I would AVOID this station for registration inspections. To happen once it might be a fluke, twice I should have known better to go there --three times on top quality cars is a problem with the shop. I cannot change them, but I will avoid giving my business in the future. When I explained my dilemma to the DMV representative (because my initial registration of the vehicle was a day late), he said it is extremely rare that this issue flagged for rejection. He told me "it depends on the shop, most would not find fault with the car for that reason." I sure hope corporate Jiffy Lube takes into account the opinions and inconveniences of their loyal customers and realizes that company policy should not be to aggressively reject vehicles at any cost--Rigid policies are typically not very good ones.

This was the first repair that was needed outside of my warranty and outside of VW. These guys were honest and straightforward about what was wrong and the cost and the recommendations they provided. They were responsive and communicated to me about the timeline in which it would be completed, when the part was delayed a day, they made sure I knew and I never had to call them for an update.     This is one of the first negative reviews I've ever written for a business, and I'm doing so after…read moremuch careful consideration because although I feel truly wronged, I dont want to make trouble for anyone. That said, having just made the first of many credit card payments for work I never would have had done given the full scope of what my vehicle needed, I feel compelled to prevent this from happening to anyone else. While the actual work done here seems fairly competent, the diagnostic process seems about as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. I brought my car in because it was creaking misfiring, and the check engine light was on. I told them that I believed my engine mounts were worn out and that I also needed a diagnoses for the misfiring. They told me that the cause for the misfiring was likely that my spark plugs and ignition coils were worn out, because that usually happens around 100k miles and my vehicle was past that. I agreed to have them replaced along with new engine mounts, to the tune of $2,600. I was told that after this my vehicle would be like a totally different car. The very next day, my car misfired again and the check engine light came back on. When I brought it back, they informed me that they don't have any way of knowing this fo sure, but I probably actually had a blown head gasket. I brought my car to a different mechanic shop who did a full and complete diagnostic from bumper to bumper and took photos of everything wrong with the car- from a blown head gasket to a leaking transmission to almost completely worn wheel bushings and a host of other problems totaling over $8,200 in addition to the $2,600 I had already paid at Red Rock Auto. Had I known this in the first place, I never would have paid $2,600 on a doomed old van that needed almost $11,000 in work done. I had to buy a new van and that $2,600 would have really helped with the down payment. I'm tempted to say that I feel duped, but I don't think there was any malice or fraud going on- just general laziness or incompetence in the diagnostic process that very negatively affected me.
