    Gravity Pope on Whyte Avenue.

I've been going to Gravity Pope for a long time and 15 years ago, this was a very different store. They used to focus more on very casual fashion. When I was a teenager, I bought a Smurf "boozy" shirt here. (Those were the days.) But over the years, their fashion has become more edgy, funky, and expensive. Gravity Pope now focuses mostly on shoes, and they have grown to have the largest and best selection for funky, stylish, and just plain awesome shoes in the entire city. Their selection is wide, from very casual to very classy. I think that most anyone, both men and women, who walks in here can tap into their personal style. Most of their shoes are very expensive and not really affordable for me. Not that it matters anyway, because I wear size 11.5, and they very rarely carry anything in this size for women. This annoys me, because I know that a lot of the brands they carry have up to size 12. I actually emailed GP's manager about this, but it was like he didn't even know. Even so, they have a nice selection of unisex sneakers like Converse and Pony. Be careful before opening your wallet here though; I've seen many of the shoes they carry on the Internet for less.

Gravity Pope is a shoe diva's dream, but dreaming is when I shop there! Needless to say it's pricey. However, their selection is WOW and you'll find shoes there you won't find at the mall from heels to flats, boots to running shoes. Trendy, trendy, trendy! I will say I bought a pair of walking shoes that were worth every penny! I wore them until the sole wore through. You will get good value for your money though. Gravity Pope fits perfectly into the retail offering of Whyte Ave. Dont' feel out of place when you walk in as you may be greeted by a young "I don't care about you" attitude and lack of service. Go for the shoes, not the service.

I wouldn't call myself a shoe addict by any means but I know a couple who would probably need rehab after this store. They have such a great selection of unique shoes, classic looking ones as well as futuristic. I think the best word to describe their shoes is funky. I would definitely stop in here when I am looking for a new pair of shoes or sneakers or kicks or whatever they are being called these days. Some of the prices are very ridiculous, especially for girls but most of their stuff isn't outrageous. I don't think any shoe lovers would be scared off by the prices. The staff is really great too.

I think gravity pope is a little over rated to be honest with you. Yes, the shoes are good quality. And yes, if you shop at gravity pope you are probably the coolest person in your group of friends, but you got these good quality hoes and cool persona at a high cost. I can't afford most of the shoes here, but sometimes they have really awesome sales. The last time I was in there they had a 2 for 1 sale, which really surprised me. But of course the sale items are last sizes and styles, so if you find a pair you like, you had better hope they are in your size. The people that wok here are also pretty helpful but there really isn't anything special about the way they help you. You want good quality shoes and a cool persona? Open up your wallet!

Pretty shoes. Such pretty shoes. Everyone needs pretty shoes to help those feet thingies look, well, better!! I'm just not a fan of feet, but Gravity Pope helps me love them just a little more. This store has some of the best shoes in the city as far as I know. They carry all sorts of shoes from sneakers, to heels, to flats, to boots to men's sneakers, heels flats and boots! I love the smell of leather as you walk in. I fell in love with a 500$ pair of boots that unfortunately, I don't think I could ever own, but I sure enjoyed looking, touching, and trying these beautiful boots. I settled instead for a lovely pair of flats that I know I will enjoy for a long time. This store is great for unique fashion finds and all sorts of funky shoes that will be sure to stand out. There are plenty of hard to find Brands here and just overall shoe love for those who care to part with some cash.

Gravity Pope is definitely eye-candy for your feet. If you're a shoe fanatic like me, you have to be careful and space your visits here, otherwise you'll be bankrupt in no time. They have some of the top brands for trendy tootsies, but you'll also be paying high-end prices. Their sale prices are pretty reasonable, but that's when they do go on sale, which isn't often. The store layout is mostly trendy and dressy shoes and boots at the front, with women's on the left and men's on the right. Towards the end of the store you start seeing more of the casual and comfortable shoes, but still very pricey. If you want a whole Gravity Pope outfit and have the money to splurge, check out their clothing store Gravity Pope Tailored Goods on Gateway Blvd, just near the Old Strathcona Farmers Market.

    Bow to the shoe gods.

I get great service from Maria when I go there, and even when they have sales (that may be at other geographic locations) I don't mind searching the store for a pair of shoes that would be adequately awesome for my needs because I know that they only sell GOOD QUALITY shoes that will be mostly comfortable for my feet. While I am a woman who wears skirts and dresses more often than not, I am unlikely to wear uncomfortable footwear and Sole Experience carries so many styles of comfortable yet attractive footwear that I've had the pleasure of buying a good number of shoes here and have worn three of these pairs straight out of the store without needing to really break them in (unlike many of my purchases made elsewhere. While I do shop elsewhere for shoes on occasion, Sole Experience is the reason I look out for particular brands and styles and have a better understanding of what fits my feet best. Shoe purchases are never stress/worry free for me, but I've had more luck than not while shopping here, both for flats and for heeled shoes, including sporty styles and more fashionable shoes.

For guys there is benches to sit at almost each aisle, so if you need a break i'd take it. Don't get me wrong there do sell shoes for kids as well. Maybe I could skip the mall?? While I have been to other DSW locations, I had no idea this one existed. Before we get too into this review, I should mention that I REALLY love shoes. I recently did a substantial purge of my collection and even still, mine rivals Imelda Marcos' (if you're a shoe fiend, give her a quick google. You won't be disappointed). I have a problem, but I digress. Today I was on a mission: I needed a pair of neutral pumps... and maybe some ankle boots... and maybe some brown knee-high boots... and maybe... This store is massive! I tried to go up and down all of the aisles but I'm sure I managed to miss something. The selection here is very good and quite well-rounded. You can get some decent deals on higher-end women's shoes (think Nine West at 20% regular price) and you can get even better deals on the lower-end. I ended up trying on at least 5 different pairs of beige pumps before deciding on a favourite, but alas they did not have my size in stock. They did offer to order them in for me but I wasn't that attached an ended up settling for my 2nd favourite. I also took a good look at the boots to see if anything caught my eye. This section was a little less exciting. The selection wasn't great and most of the brands are lower-end. I'd prefer to try and get something higher quality on sale elsewhere. They did have some great deals on Sorels and Cougars though but not in styles that I was looking for. I ended up resisting temptation and passing on the boots. The back of the store features a large clearance section. A friendly sales associate let me know that everything on clearance was an additional 20% off. Score! Again though, nothing really caught my eye. When I was at the checkout, I was excited to find out that the shoes I had chosen were actually an extra 40% off. Great news for me! Overall I was very pleased with my visit to DSW. It's definitely the kind of place I would check out if I am looking for something specific as they have a well-rounded selection and reasonable prices.
