I've actually bought 4 of the last 5 pairs of shoes that I've purchased this year here. Part of the reason I've purchased so many shoes this year is that I've worn a considerable number of shoes out lately. I get great service from Maria when I go there, and even when they have sales (that may be at other geographic locations) I don't mind searching the store for a pair of shoes that would be adequately awesome for my needs because I know that they only sell GOOD QUALITY shoes that will be mostly comfortable for my feet. While I am a woman who wears skirts and dresses more often than not, I am unlikely to wear uncomfortable footwear and Sole Experience carries so many styles of comfortable yet attractive footwear that I've had the pleasure of buying a good number of shoes here and have worn three of these pairs straight out of the store without needing to really break them in (unlike many of my purchases made elsewhere. While I do shop elsewhere for shoes on occasion, Sole Experience is the reason I look out for particular brands and styles and have a better understanding of what fits my feet best. Shoe purchases are never stress/worry free for me, but I've had more luck than not while shopping here, both for flats and for heeled shoes, including sporty styles and more fashionable shoes. read more

The wonderful gal who served me (sorry I didn't get her name) fit me perfectly, explaining why the shoe size I thought I needed was not healthy for my feet and put me in a size that is so-o-o comfortable. She also found me boots that adjust perfectly for my sometimes swollen feet, are attractive, and have a good sole making me safe on our winter walkways. And then! - then, she carried my packages to my car for me so I could concentrate on walking safely with my cane. I've shopped here for years and am very grateful they are still around. Recently, I injured my ankle. And after numerous trips to the doctor and the physiotherapist, we discovered that the cause of the injury was repeated strain on the ankle caused by poor mechanics of my feet. I needed good orthotics. The prescription ones "custom-made" by a podiatrist just didn't cut it. I needed to have some made by a certified pedorthist. There aren't too many in Edmonton, but I was glad to find one at Sole Experience, one of my favourite shoe stores in town. Marvin spent an hour and a half with me, analyzing my gate, examining my feet and legs. He also showed me around the store and told me what I needed to look for in shoes, steering me from pricier shoes (and his higher commission?) to ones that would actually work for my feet. I was so impressed with the service. They have won a loyal customer for life. Aside from the great pedorthotic service, they have a fabulous selection of high-quality shoes. The best pedorthist in town. Len is the only person I trust with my shoes. His adjustments and orthotics have fundamentally changed walking for me. I saw a barrage of podiatrists and other professionals about my foot abnormalities and have been forced to wear all manner of ugly, uncomfortable, poorly made footwear that STILL left me severely limited in how much I could stand or walk. Len LISTENS to me. He cares about my opinion. When I say something hurts, he takes it seriously. The process of adjusting my shoes and making orthotics is truly collaborative--I never leave Sole Experience feeling uncertain about what's on my feet, because I got input into the whole process. And he's also willing to help if I just need the cover of my orthotic refreshed, I want to know what kind of paint he suggests to decorate my shoes, or I'm wondering if a new style I like is suitable for a sole build-up. Going to Sole Experience is a really different experience for me. Usually shoes make me really miserable because I'm forced into a limited range with a bunch of modifications. But thanks to the work Len's done with me, I'm feeling better about my shoes now. read more

I love my Birkenstocks, and when I needed a new pair I went to Sole Experience based on the feedback of friends. As soon as I walked through the door I noticed the huge selection of sandals, dress shoes, even flip flops for men and women and from a variety of different brands. The selection of Birkenstocks was the largest I have ever seen anywhere, and they had the style and colour and size I was looking for - at other places I was lucky if I could do two out of three. The customer service was excellent - I had three different staff helping me out to make sure the pair I got was perfect for me and to make sure I had the proper care advice. Was here on the weekend and I have to say I have never had someone who was willing to help as much as John was. It was an amazing experience and it turns out I need to see my doctor to find out why I have problems with my feet. Rather than just try and sell me an expensive shoe with expensive insole they took the time to let me know I should get myself looked at. I understand that medical needs make shoes more expensive but I am glad they didn't just sell me a shoe and expect it to work out. I needed a specific pair of shoes that I can only find in a few places in town, and to discuss a different brand that would provide the same support for my fallen arch. I was in the area and decided to try them myself even though my sister in law didn't have a good experience. I'm pleased that my experience was a completely different one! I was approached almost immediately and the customer service rep knew her stuff. She understood my needs better than I do :). I was very impressed with how she helped me out even though I may have went in there with a chip on my shoulder. So far I am loving the shoes that she recommended and it's nice to have a different brand to wear. The shoe that was recommended was reasonably priced considering that they are hand made. This review is a wee bit late - July 2020. Ardy listened to me as I was trying on various styles of hiking sandals and brought out apair of shoes I was totally not expecting. Hoka One One Bondi in turquoise because he paid attention to what I had said and to what I was wearing. He listed the attributes, I tried them on and I was sold. I came here specifically looking for work shoes one day with a friend after finding them online. When I tried to show her what I was looking for, she hurriedly glared at me and told me she is not a doctor and therefore, cannot help me. It wasn't a very specific medical question, I just wanted to know what she could suggest that had a larger toe box. I tried again to ask for some suggestions, and she spoke to me in a very condescending manner. My friend sat to the side and when I came over, she was appalled at the way I was spoken to. I mentioned to another sales associate that I was very unhappy with the rude service. Needless to say, I didn't buy anything that day. I went to another specialty comfort shoe store the next day (with many of the same brands) and was helped very kindly and thus left happily with an expensive purchase at another location. I always like to support a local independent business, so when I needed a good pair of winter boots I went here first. Sole Experience may not have the largest selection of boots, but you can be assured that everything they carry is really good quality. I found the perfect pair of boots at a good price --but the right boot fit slightly too tight. So the lady helping me took it to the back and had it stretched until it was a perfect fit! This place is pretty amazing, they have more high end comfortable shoes then I've ever seen, they even sell winter coats and boots. ( Who would have thought that ) I simply had no clue this place even existed. I've been searching for a high end comfortable walking shoe, because I have a job where I' m on my feet a lot, and the tootsies need some COMFORT If you know what I mean. In recent weeks I found a brand name comfort shoe that I really wanted, then I went on their website and found out they don't ship to Canada. (Great) So I'm going for a walk and stumble across Sole Experience and here are the shoes that I've been looking for all along, and on for 50 % off. What a bargain. Plus I now don't have to pay shipping charges, because my next option was eBay. Service was great, my shoe salesperson was knowledgeable and friendly. The young sales person was very helpfull telling us about the return policy where you can return the shoes for 14 days if they don't fit properly. When we went to replace the shoes 3 days later, to buy another of the more expensive pairs we bought at the same time, the elderly lady with an accent was increadibly rude and refused to honor the return policy. read more
