Plenty of shoes and plenty of mirrors, this place is like a palace of shoes with accessories to match your shoes. This place is a large warehouse then most shoe stores i've been to. Deals can be good if you search long and hard enough. I'm not a shoe person myself but there are plenty of ladies looking around here, just saying . Washrooms if you need a break from shoe wearing. For guys there is benches to sit at almost each aisle, so if you need a break i'd take it. Don't get me wrong there do sell shoes for kids as well. It also is an outlet store so they have a few designer shoes but nothing too expensive or extreme. Staff is friendly and helpful. Parking is massive so you won't have trouble parking here. Recommended for ladies who love shoes more than men but there are shoes for everyone. read more

I was driving on my merry way to south gate mall to buy some much needed work shoes when a sign at the side of the road caught my eye: Designer Shoe Warehouse (AKA DSW). What luck! Maybe I could skip the mall?? While I have been to other DSW locations, I had no idea this one existed. Before we get too into this review, I should mention that I REALLY love shoes. I recently did a substantial purge of my collection and even still, mine rivals Imelda Marcos' (if you're a shoe fiend, give her a quick google. You won't be disappointed). I have a problem, but I digress. Today I was on a mission: I needed a pair of neutral pumps... and maybe some ankle boots... and maybe some brown knee-high boots... and maybe... This store is massive! I tried to go up and down all of the aisles but I'm sure I managed to miss something. The selection here is very good and quite well-rounded. You can get some decent deals on higher-end women's shoes (think Nine West at 20% regular price) and you can get even better deals on the lower-end. I ended up trying on at least 5 different pairs of beige pumps before deciding on a favourite, but alas they did not have my size in stock. They did offer to order them in for me but I wasn't that attached an ended up settling for my 2nd favourite. I also took a good look at the boots to see if anything caught my eye. This section was a little less exciting. The selection wasn't great and most of the brands are lower-end. I'd prefer to try and get something higher quality on sale elsewhere. They did have some great deals on Sorels and Cougars though but not in styles that I was looking for. I ended up resisting temptation and passing on the boots. The back of the store features a large clearance section. A friendly sales associate let me know that everything on clearance was an additional 20% off. Score! Again though, nothing really caught my eye. When I was at the checkout, I was excited to find out that the shoes I had chosen were actually an extra 40% off. Great news for me! Overall I was very pleased with my visit to DSW. It's definitely the kind of place I would check out if I am looking for something specific as they have a well-rounded selection and reasonable prices. read more

Oh my goodness. I will definitely be back to this store. I hadn't planned on visiting the DSW Shoe Warehouse today. But I was across the street at Pennington's and saw the store on my way in. This might be the biggest shoe store I have ever been in. I detest shoe shopping. I have wide feet and high arches so finding the right fit is nearly impossible. I was approached by a few staff members but I'm happy browsing on my own for the most part. I had completely bypassed the wide shoe collection when a tall salesman approached me. We had a pleasant chat about how hard it was finding the right shoe. He pointed me towards the wide fit section and voila. I found exactly what I was looking for. Pros: friendly and helpful staff, large selection to choose from, shoes can be pricey but mostly affordable - I will go back for work shoes. Make sure to check out the discount area in the back. Lots of purses and accessories to choose from as well. Cons: clerk at the counter was rather pushy about signing up for a membership. Stores really need to stop doing this. I wish someone would have told me to sign up for their email list to get $10 off. I suppose I'd have to come back. Since Payless is gone, it has been hard to find shoes that are within a reasonable budget. I was on the search for boots that are dressy & flat-heeled, has zips. I started in the clearance section in my size; the selection was very limited but I found a pair of waterproof lined dressy boots that was 70% off. It doesn't make sense that a pair of black suede boots that wasn't waterproof or warm was more expensive. Children's shoes in the clearance section were slim pickings but I found a pair of toddler sneakers at 30% off the listed price. I wish the shoes were better organised; ladies' boots were scattered around the shelves. read more

Whenever I go to USA, I make it a point to visit here. I'm so glad they expanded their chain into Canada. This location has ample parking and is pretty large inside. They carry similar brands compared to their American stores, but I didn't notice any high end brand purses like some American stores have (ie. Michael kors). Surprisingly for a grand opening, they had a full clearance rack for shoes and purses! Pricing is pretty decent, I actually found some better deals than some of the TJX stores (winners & marshalls) and prices are fair enough that it doesn't seem worth visiting their chain in USA anymore. Take note though, their free membership operates separately from USA and Canada, so a Canadian membership is needed to get Canadian offers such as free shipping online. Customer service is great, actually a little too much, I was approached by 4 separate sales associates who offered assistance, but it was opening day after all. They also have ample supply of disposable nylon foot socks which is nice for trying on shoes. Check out had no wait times and I found staff to be friendly. read more

Woohoo! I'm in love with this store. I must say that when this location first opened, the customer service was pretty terrible. It seems that things have completely turned around though, and my last several visits were awesome. There's a lot to take in, but the store is well organized and well stocked. I suggest checking out the clearance area- I almost always find something awesome! The staff have also been super helpful, though you can pretty much navigate everything on your own without difficulty. read more

I've been to all the DSW locations in and around the city now and this is by far my favourite. It's also the closest to what I experienced at DSW in the states - where there's more sales/clearance items than there are regular priced items. The staff are friendly and attentive and they have a great selection. Shoes are organized in a way that seems to make sense. Two pairs of quality running/walking shoes for $150! While they have an exceptional selection, their customer service leaves much to be desired. Not one person even acknowledged I was in the store. Several of the staff stood at the back of the store having a conversation the entire time I was in the store, while another announced she was going on break. I stood at the cash desk for over 10 mins without anyone in the store even noticing, finally I walked to the back of the store to the stock fellow who replied, I thought someone was up there. No apology - nothing. I'm now late returning to work. If you have a problem with theft it could be they are oblivious to what is happening in the store. read more
