They still sell trendy shoes but I find their style, although similar to ALDO, to be more urban and less preppy. I consider ALDO to be more preppy and business-ee. Spring shoes tend to be more casual in look and feel. I also find their shoes to wear down faster than their sister counterpart company. They also sell purses, jewelry, belts and outerwear such as gloves and scarfs. Like ALDO, Spring take SPC (Student Price Card) and gives students 10% off their merchandise year-round. For whatever reason, I find this Londonderry mall location of Spring to carry more styles and sizes than say Kingsway and West Edmonton Mall's locations for some reason.

The last time was back in the Fall and came away with two pairs of casual sporty shoes which I basically got for 2-for-1. They took me through our beloved Edmonton winter and one pair is still going. However, with spring here I've been looking for a pair of everyday flats. Bingo - got 'em. Yes, they were on sale and yes I'm pleased! The gals in the Kingsway mall store are most helpful (as they have been in the past) and that is part of the reason I go back. Sterling carries fashionable footwear for men and women. For ladies: heels, flats, sandals, casual footwear and most things in between. Men have a good selection too from leather, sporty, dress and casual shoes. Prices are reasonable. Sales happen on a regular basis so if you can hold off for the sale you can really get some good deals on good shoes.

This is a store that sells stylish shoes for people who have developed a variety of back, leg and foot problems, i.e. us old geezers. My wife and I fall into that category plus we both have problems getting shoes that fit comfortably , especially when walking. I'm particularly hard to fit because of a leg brace that requires one shoe to be larger than another. Shoe Comfort had styles we liked and, more importantly, had the brand of shoe that had seen me through ten years of overseas and domestic trips, delivering Meals on Wheels and daily use. We found the size that fit the braced foot, so the owner worked for half an hour to put together the proper combination of inserts to make the other shoe fit. When we got home, my wife found that one pair she bought was slightly tight after walking around the house for half an hour. She returned with that pair, explained the problem and the staff went through the same routine for her to make one size fit comfortably. There was no charge for the inserts and the staff were pleasant while providing after-sales service (rare in retail). I should mention that our visit to Shoe Comfort took place during the pandemic. The store provided hand sanitizer at the door and a cheerful reminder to use it before poking around. Capacity was limited to four people and the four chairs were neatly socially distanced. As soon as a customer left, the chairs were sanitized and, as soon as we left, the owner cleaned he outside door handles. I have never seen such impressive measures, especially in a smaller store. We can't be the only people in Edmonton who have problems fitting shoes. To all the others out there like us, we found the place to go.

The shoes we're really that fashionable or that attractive, except for maybe a few of the flats. But Mephisto's focus is not on fashion; it's on comfort. Most of their shoes are for walking, hiking, or good for work. The prices were outrageous though. A pair of flats were $200-$300 dollars, and most of the other shoes were in this range. I noticed some of the shoes were made in Portugal, and the leather was super soft. They indeed felt like they'd be very comfortable. They had men's and women's shoes, and they also sold a few shirts and coats, but only for men. These were really expensive too. A button-up long sleeved shirt was $150, and one a corduroy coat was $400! I don't think I'll ever be back here, but I think if you have money and are looking for a comfortable shoe, you might want to check it out.

You can get some decent deals on higher-end women's shoes (think Nine West at 20% regular price) and you can get even better deals on the lower-end. I ended up trying on at least 5 different pairs of beige pumps before deciding on a favourite, but alas they did not have my size in stock. They did offer to order them in for me but I wasn't that attached an ended up settling for my 2nd favourite. I also took a good look at the boots to see if anything caught my eye. This section was a little less exciting. The selection wasn't great and most of the brands are lower-end. I'd prefer to try and get something higher quality on sale elsewhere. They did have some great deals on Sorels and Cougars though but not in styles that I was looking for. I ended up resisting temptation and passing on the boots. The back of the store features a large clearance section. A friendly sales associate let me know that everything on clearance was an additional 20% off. Score! Again though, nothing really caught my eye. When I was at the checkout, I was excited to find out that the shoes I had chosen were actually an extra 40% off. Great news for me! Overall I was very pleased with my visit to DSW.
