Bought two different types of bread to try: the French baguette and Jalapeño cheese batard. Not impressed. Both were chewy and old. It felt as if they were left overs from prior days. I also purchased their babka roll. That was cold to touch and came straight out from the fridge not the oven. Wanted to try more pastries but their pastries didn't look fresh or inviting enough for me to spend about $6.00 each of them. Some pastries like their apple turnovers or plain croissants for example are selling at almost $6.00 each and it's overpriced for what it's worth. I walked out not impressed at this place. I feel like they opened on Saturday only to lure you in to buy their leftovers that were meant for their retailer customers.

There is a bit of a wait but they have the system down to a science with numbers and lines and lots of people there working very hard but with smiles on their faces. This place is extremely busy and for good reason. They only use the best of incredients. Everything we tried today for the first time was great. The croissants (ham and turkey)were my favorite and by far the best croissants I've ever had anywhere of all time! Also the double chocolate cookie was hands down the best of all time in the cookie category for me! I like the tie dye signs and there's just an overall happy feel inside and outside the building. The wait is definitely worth it ! (Ps I have some pics but not much of the food because it got chomped up by all of us quick!)

Everything we've tried from Grateful Bread has been above and beyond amazing. Our recent trip yielded a chocolate croissant-type roll, jalapeño bread and a loaf of sourdough rosemary bread. The chocolate roll was the perfect amount of chocolate and pastry. I pulled each layer off and ate it individually. The jalapeño bread was hearty and spicy; perfect for dipping into lentil soup. And the rosemary bread... Wow! Hearty, but not heavy. Great structure and consistency. Looking forward to going back soon!

The rating says it all. The products speak louder. The best chocolate Babka ever. Lavender sourdough? Yep. Croissants, cookies, pain au chocolat...and on and on. Exquisite delights that are a feast for the eyes. Friendly, outgoing, kind and helpful staff. Retail customers can only get their fill on Saturdays. Get there! Share with your neighbors and friends.

I like to consider myself somewhat of a bread connoisseur. I can tell you where to get the best (imho) garlic rolls, pitas, French, Cuban, or rye bread to name a few across the country. I had the pleasure of being at the right place and the right time in Denver. This place is ONLY open on Saturdays for a few hours. They sell mostly wholesale during the week. We found out about it when we loved the bread at a local restaurant in Boulder. Grateful Bread (such a cute name) is located in a commercial warehouse area in Golden. We got there around 11:30am with no line. So many breads to choose from, ancient grains to sourdough to rye to soft pretzels and everything in between. Everything that we tried was phenomenal. I especially liked the caraway pretzel roll. They also have sweet things, but we stuck with the savory carbs. Oh and grits too! The employees were super nice and helpful (and patient) They talked about how they mill their own grains?! That's so next level.

Parking was limited, and it is way awkward to get in and out with a car. We got the "fiona" (a mango-kiwi dessert), a "scarlett" (raspberry chocolate dessert), berry-licious croissant tart, and a lemon madeleine. The "fiona" was perfectly balanced with a solid mango and kiwi flavor coming through. It had creamy component, a cake component, and a fruit component with a glaze. Not too sweet, but certainly sweet enough to satisfy a sweet tooth craving. The "scarlett" was intensely raspberry in the mousse component. The raspberry jam on top brought the sweetness to temper the tartness of the mousse, and the chocolate cake and chocolate cookie components also balanced out the dessert with a nice natural bittersweet from the cocoa component. The fruit croissant tart had nice fruit on it, and the cream component reads like a yogurt. The croissant part itself was very tasty and makes me excited to try their original butter croissant next time. And finally, the Madeleine was very impressive. I am not a fan of frosting-like stuff on Madeleines, but this worked so well because it was not too sweet. Very balanced flavors, yet again, with some of that natural bitterness again that contrasts so excellently with the flavors. If I could only use key words to describe their desserts, it would be: beautiful, balanced, complex, and natural. I won't be able to come here often due to how far away I live from here, but I know that I will be back.

I had a smoked cheese baked into a split bread, and it was so good. We also got a citron tart, an apple tart, and gorgeous. All satisfying. The coffee... I didn't expect it, but it is top-tier coffee. I ordered the americano, and it was bursting with complex flavors. It wasn't just chocolate or burnt or, god forbid, dirt. It was more than just a diner coffee. A real coffee nerd would appreciate this coffee. I should have asked where the beans were from. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if they got it from one of Denver's top roasters. What a treat. We'll be back for sure.

So refreshing to hear that authentic greeting since I worked in Paris, France. The place is big and airy, similar to a warehouse. Everything is made on-site the day of. I opted for the pomme de Tarte (Apple tarte) and the olive baguette, which is Amazing! They told me that the baguette dough takes a few days to rise and sit. So it takes three days to make it. It tastes chewy and a little hint of sourdough taste, so good! It brought me back to Paris! I'll be back to try coffee and other things on their menu. I also noticed they sell the famous tea du marriage frères. I think if they offered a light lunch menu like Niçoise salad or croque monsieur it would be nice.
