There was a pretty nice selection on cupcakes to choose from, including gluten free cupcakes. I tried the vanilla (almond flavor). The cupcake was simply decorate, yet pretty. The flavoring was amazing. The cake consistency was a bit more like angle food cake -- spongy, yet moist, with a bit of a spring to it (not crumbly). Today we stopped by this bakery to try out their cupcakes. I have celiac so I chose a gluten-free cinnamon cupcake with cream cheese frosting and my husband chose a red velvet cupcake. The cupcakes were very good. I think the service was just OK. They didn't seem that welcoming And somewhat inpatient when asking questions about the cupcakes. This place is very good, and I like that it's not one of the new-fangled chain locations but seems genuine a familyish. The quality, taste and freshness were exceptional. Great Cupcake Shop in Golden... it's right off the main drag. Walking in, it's a small shop that seems to be a Mother/Daughter operation. The flavors rotate on a daily basis and all the cupcakes are generously topped with buttercream frosting! They are decorated beautifully and packaged in plastic carriers with the store logo so they make a great gift. I really liked the Diamond White, Turtle & Birthday Cake.... so good I had to make a U-Turn on the highway to go back and get another half dozen! Must stop in Golden. read more

Delicious cakes! My sweet tooth was acting up and this little convenient bakeshop was the perfect stop. I grabbed one Birthday Cake cupcake and one Cookies & Cream. Both were fantastic. I regret to write this review, but I feel compelled to share my recent experience on Sunday (7/16) at Gold Mine Cupcakes. While the overall establishment is well-maintained and provides satisfactory service, I encountered an employee who made my visit with my children uncomfortable. Upon entering the premises, I was greeted by a older woman (I don't quite remember her name). Her facial expressions/ body language conveyed a dismissive or hostile attitude. She seemed to be annoyed and/or upset. I wouldn't describe Golden as being a sketchy area, so I was surprised that this type of person in such a setting. I have been a customer at Gold Mine for a couple years, and love their products and rest of their staff. The cupcakes we bought on Sunday were as great as always. Yum. The cupcakes here have a very unique crumb texture that is hard to describe. I had a diamond (vanilla and almond) and my fiancé had a strawberry chocolate. The regulars are also a good size. The ladies behind Gold Mine Cupcakes are a delight to work with. We originally hired them to supply cupcakes for our March 2020 wedding. When that didn't work out, they made it easy to push our deposit forward. We ended up using our deposit for a much smaller July 2020 wedding. Then, our best friends used them for their Labor Day 2020 wedding! Gold Mine supplied smores cupcakes, which weren't even on the menu, when a fire ban in Grand County foiled their plans to do smores over a fire. We used Gold Mine Cupcakes again when we had our larger wedding reception in November 2021. They delivered the cupcakes and a beautiful stand to display them on. They will work with any dietary preferences so that all your guests can enjoy a delicious dessert.
