We took out 2 pizzas and a quart of tortilla soup from Grateful Bites. Flavors of all were very good. However, the pizzas and the soup were not hot when I reached home, less than a 10 minutes drive (and I picked them up at exactly the agreed time). Grateful Bites stores to-go pizzas in their boxes stacked in the open on their counter near their register and door. If they do not soon get a warming or insulated unit, be ready at home to reheat your order. read more

Good wood fired oven pizzas, not a huge menu but what the do, they do very well. I've never eaten in, only ordered for pick-up, which is always super fast. Occasionally the pizza is too thin in the center and I think it's a bit overpriced, but I do recommend it. Salads are yum, too. read more

Unfortunately I just had a zero star experience with Grateful Bites and their delivery partner, Door Dash. Delivery time was misrepresented, ended up taking an extra hour to receive cold food that was not what we ordered. The experience will not have us coming back given the quality pizza choices in the area. read more

I despise the grateful dead. So I was wary going here for pandemic take out. I'm also sick of crap north shore pizzas. Thin crust cracker or fake NY style or deep dish casseroles. Sometimes they're ok yet I'm used to city pizzas like Piece, Jimmy's Pizza Cafe and Spacca Napoli. Spacca is by far the best pizza in Chicago. Period. It seems Grateful Bites has perfected their crust. It's on par with Spacca (!!!!!!!!), yet their sauce is acidic and salty and takes away from the other wonderful ingredients. It's good and has hints of NYC sauces, yet I would suggest to the owners, cooks and staff to goto the city and try Spacca once to see the possibilities. San Marzano tomatoes are key and would compliment the crust and the fresh ingredients better in my opinion. Everyone's a professional food critic right? We also had the Caesar salad and it was exceptional. Probably the best Caesar in the north shore. Maybe the best salad. It was just fresh and tasted great. Good pizza. However, to say the the service borders on incompetence would be a compliment. It takes an hour to order and get a pizza that can be made in 4 minutes. Nevertheless, I ordered again this weekend and when I was told an hour to get two pizzas. I said "ok thanks" and hung up. When I arrived an hour later to pick up my pizzas the woman behind the counter said "This is on me when I said it was going to be an hour and you hung up I didn't think you wanted the pizzas" So not happy I assumed they could fire the pizzas in their coal fire oven right away. She said "no it's going to take a while". Im not sure why, the restaurant was empty except for one solo diner. Maybe, they do a tremendous takeout business as for me I'm out I'll take my business to Mino's which is a block away. read more

Clearly the best pizza on the north shore for authentic Neapolitan Italian style pizza. We ordered margherita and arugula for the adults and cheese pizza for the kids. Everyone loved the pizza. Crust is perfection: well cooked with some slight char but foldable. Sauce fresh and appropriate levels of tangy and sweet. Burrata appetizer outstanding. Wow! There is an amazing attention to detail with every single salad and pizza. We ordered the small arugula salad perfectly dressed with toasted pepitas, tart dried cranberries, and smooth parm savings. What we didn't eat as salad, we put on top of our pizzas. The pizzas - we added chorizo to the elote pizza - with a little squeeze of lime, this pizza was heavenly with the fresh sweet corn on top! We added prosciutto to the Feed Your Head pizza with mushrooms and goat cheese - the crust-butts from this 'za were especially good with the spicy honey. We asked for a side of the giardano, and the chef brought it out, explaining they use whatever I'd fresh and in-season locally to produce a pickled veg and fruit mix. The menu is not extensive, but the food they prepare is really quite something. They also carry very nice wines and beers that pair beautifully with the food. Well done, chefs! read more

The pizza was really good. Service was spot on. We had a white pizza with mozzarella, arugula and we added mushrooms. It was very good. Best part is how hot it was served. Literally brought to your table directly from the oven. We attempted to eat in the back outdoor area, which is just a couple wrought iron tables & chairs, but it began to rain. We sat inside and my only complaint was the enormous amount of little children who were very noisy in a small space. No fault of there's. Next time we will either go later or take it to go. We needed a place like this, and the pizza is great! BTW, they serve beer and wine. read more

I really wanted to love this new pizza restaurant. My husband and I really like thin crust pizzas and it sounded wonderful. I ordered 2 pizzas and I have to say, I was so disappointed. Not only were they both kind of soggy and non-crisp, but they were also rather flavorless. I make better myself at home in my oven. This place is awesome, great vibe inside, nice little patio, and well the takeout works also. We have tried the whole menu at this point, but keep returning to the Elote, Pep and Hot Honey, and the Sausage with Giardiniera. The pizzas are not huge, so make sure you order plenty. I would estimate if you are hungry 1/2-3/4 of a pizza per person (then again I always over order)... This place better be here for good, its a gem of the Hubbard Woods district. read more

It's really hard to find 5-star food on the North Shore, but this is the real deal. I chose a sausage and giardiniera pizza and market salad. Pizza was perfect--just the right thickness of crust that's chewy in the center but crispier along the edge. Sauce is really good, slightly sweet. Sausage has great flavor that was complemented by the house made giardiniera, which was finely chopped and not overpowering, and more tangy than spicy. The salad was incredibly fresh, with orange tomatoes, sweet corn, black beans, queso, red onion and jalapeno. My only complaint is that the salad contained cilantro, which I hate passionately. I usually throw out food that includes cilantro, but this salad was so good otherwise, I took the time to sort through and pick out the nasty spice. Next time I'll have them hold it. I ordered to go so can't speak to the dine-in experience. It's small and very bright, more than I'd want for date night. But I hear the back patio is very nice and I want to try that soon. read more

The first time I tasted their soup was months ago. During COVID-19 they had chilled quarts available outside to grab and go. We tried 2 kinds and have returned for more! The people there are very kind. Since we cannot go inside we are pleased they offer to go options. Now with the cold weather coming I recommend bringing home hearty homemade soup. read more

I've been here countless times since they opened - by far my favorite pizza in the Chicago area. Neapolitan style pizzas made in a proper wood oven, but with their own special toppings. The food is always good and our go to is the pepperoni and hot honey. We have tried other pizzas and they were good but I always find myself wishing I had stuck with our original order. I only have two suggestions. It would be great if you could create a green pizza with a pesto sauce base and maybe find a better delivery alternative to the third party because they can be a bit expensive after calculating service fee plus tip which can end up costing an extra $7-$10. read more

My family's favorite local pizza place! We've ordered from them countless times, but tonight when there was a miscommunication with our order, they quickly delivered our missing pizza (which they gave to us for free) and couldn't have been nicer about it. Best customer service in town and super nice guys plus amazing food!!! Their pepperoni and hot honey pizza is our favorite. Definitely worth eating here or getting takeout! read more
