I got a turkey bacon sandwich when I went and while it was delicious it was very expensive. My sandwich along was about $13, which is wild because subway cost the same and is like 4 times more. The staff was all very nice, and the service was pretty quick given how busy they were. It's a very small shop but has a lovely outside area to sit and enjoy you're food. While I probably won't go back because of the price I do think it's worth a try if you're in the area. read more

I absolutely love Grateful bagel and I love what they have to offer. I always get the grateful eggel but with added cream cheese and it's bomb. However the system they have in place with COVID is hard. If you are in a hurry this is not the place. Popped in here finally last week, as we've been wanting to check them out for some time. We were going to buy some fresh bagels and a big bag of day-old blueberry bagels (which looked great). We asked the workers behind the counter if they were vegan, to which we got puzzled expressions. They had no idea what "vegan" even meant. I think it would benefit the business to educate your employees about things like this. Chances are the blueberry bagels were vegan (as well as a few other kinds). It would be helpful to have some labels on the menu as well. Otherwise you just lose a sale. read more

I am new to town and wanted a sandwich. Decided on Grateful Bagels because there were several people sitting on the patio. It was lunchtime. When I walked in, they had no customers with 3 ladies working. Not one of them greeted me until I was there for about 5 minutes. The lady behind the register was washing a dish and didn't even bother to turn around the entire time. When I was finally served, it was not a "grateful" or pleasant at all. I was going to walk out because as I was waiting, I was watching flies all over the bagels, walls and the unclean (filthy) counter top where they make the sandwiches. They had a disgusting open trash can filled sitting right behind the counter where customers walk up to order and pay. I am a very easy going person and never write reviews but this was not a good experience in such a charming and friendly town. Will definitely not go back. Bagels and handcrafted food and drink Is good. But the service and atmosphere here is horrible. It's very dirty everywhere. Every time we go in here, the employees are rude and bad attitudes. The manager is a colossal jerk. (We were at the Sebastopol store on Main Street in the late morning of July 9, 2023). This morning there was a native bird stuck inside the restaurant between the drink machine and the window in a space about 2-3" wide. Hot sun was streaming through the window. The bird was panting, frightened, and getting exhausted. My son and I asked if we could free the bird by shifting the cooler far enough to allow us to reach behind it to catch the bird so we could let it go outside. We were courteous when we asked, and we were concerned about the bird. We also realized they were busy and so didn't expect any help from the employees (though it would have been welcome); we requested only that they allow us to help the bird. The manager told us that he had a business to run and they'd "deal with it" once they got to the end of the line of customers (which was long and continued to grow). We said that the bird's life was at stake and timing was important; his response was hostile, he told us to leave right away, and he angrily and sarcastically waved us out the door. I hope the bird lived. I will not patronize this place ever again, based on this person's rude behavior and his attitude of money-making over respect for another's life. read more

I was there when the manager gave terrible service to the only black customer and then threatened to call the police when he objected. Even said "it's because he's black" like it was a great joke. Place is very small with a few shaded tables outside for sitting (now that we're loosening up restrictions a bit), but flies can be an issue. Cute little spot with outdoor seating! Due to covid restrictions 3 people are allowed in the store at a time, but it goes by quickly. (I was there at 8:30am) I'd recommend just ordering when you get there as there's no separate line for pick-up. The service is excellent and the employees make it so easy to get in and out. It's really important to me to patronize local business during this time. I'm also aware of the fact this is a very reactive time for people right now. However, during the hustle and bustle of the morning at Grateful Bagel it can be overwhelming to look at the menu when there are so many people in the little space and we are in a pandemic. My daughter asked for Nutella on her bagel. The owners should aware that the reaction from the order taker/ cashier today around 6:30 am was a glare, an eye roll and a huff followed by a hard No. When we got back to the car my 10 year old cried. Despite all that's going on...there are a lot of people that don't have jobs right now. To the person working the counter, if you It not happy... find something else. To the owners of Grateful bagel.. I would consider putting this person on an action plan or let them go. They are obviously miserable and not doing a good job representing your business. read more

Self-serve coffee is good too: lots of options from Taylor Lane with all the add-ons (half-and-half, etc.) you could want. Service is usually very good, except for the one time I called in my order and they lost it. Heads up that sometimes there can be a bit of a line. I really can't understand how this place only has 3.5 stars. Maybe I've just had good luck(?) but I have been to this shop 5 times in the last 3 months since I moved here and EVERY time, no matter how busy, the staff have been so, so nice. I CRAVE this bagel now, and honestly, @ me if you want, but I think this bagel is better than actual pizza! I ordered it 2 times in a row before I got around to trying other flavors. Next I had the jalapeño cheddar and it was, unsurprisingly to me, absolutely perfect. Today, it was the pesto cheddar bagel that finally brought me to Yelp to leave this rave review. IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOD, I was running for my phone so I could rant online about my love for this place. We love their bagels - not a traditional NY bagel but yummy nonetheless and we love supporting small local businesses. That said, they need to further limit the number of people in that tiny space, for the safety of the customers AND the staff. Maybe create a pickup window at the other exterior door so that folks can come in and order and then wait outside? Also that would encourage people to call in their orders to further reduce patrons inside? The times I've come in lately, there have been too many people inside and often they have the door closed. Since I was on daycare duty w/my 3 y/o and 7 mo. old Granddaughters, I phoned in my order. It was crowded when I maneuvered a toddler (w/mask on) and infant in her carrier in to p-up the order. Not only was the staff very kind and patient, but other customers were accommodating and helpful to me as well. To add to my fun, I then forgot my debit card there after paying. As I was buckling in little ones, a kind customer let me know that I had left it. Before I could meltdown, he volunteered to go in and see if he could retrieve it for me. I knew it was doubtful. Out ran a staff member to give it to me. I was beyond grateful! He wasn't even annoyed. Haha!
