We landed with Granite due to reliability issues with another vendor. I had my COO handle most of the set up but, I do know he felt a lack of support from the start- having to involve our IT company to get things moving. When it came time to make a simple change (taking away a "choose 1 for this and 2 for that") it took me multiple phone calls and hours on the phone. I'm sure some of this could have been repaired but, Granite remained to me a faceless entity that I did business with- to say there was zero relationship would be fair. Next came the opportunity for me to partner with Rilla to help my advisors' phone skills. I went shopping for a phone system that could integrate Rilla and found for a similar system (even down to both systems using Poly phones) I was paying Granite $700 more a month than other companies charged. Needless to say the decision was made to move on from Granite. We submitted our cancellation and port request in November of 2025 and arranged everything to be switched over at 10am December 1st (a Monday). At no point did we get any warning as to policies because if we had I would've switched and paid my IT company weekend rates and saved money. Granite charged us the entire month of December for services stopped at 10am on the first day of the month. They then tried to charge us for January-April which took me several emails and calls back and forth over those months and after trying to get things resolved. We would get answers like "I see your cancellation, I'm not sure why you were charged" and then not get answers for weeks. When I asked for managers or supervisors I got another non decision maker and no one that could explain anything. Finally, their review board stated that they would take away all but December to which I stated I still wasnt pleased, wanted to speak to someone, and never got a call or email (left them both my private number and email). I also stated that I was requesting written notice that by paying December's bill that would guarantee the closing of my account. I still have not gotten that. Overall, they are higher priced than most with exceptionally awful communication and follow up skills. I would say run from this company but, you still wouldn't get away fast enough- so strap on a jet pack and get away at supersonic speeds!

Downtown

(Pre-2/19/2020 with COVID-19)…read more Mid afternoon one day, I decided that pop into T-Mobile to ask a few questions about how to use their service during my upcoming international travel. They weren't crazy busy, so they had time to spend on me. How can I use my plan's included International service without getting charged for phone calls? How do I make sure any call I make while I am out there is using wifi calling? Is there a way to shut down the mobile service for calling? The lady suggested that i could turn on airplane mode when I have wifi before trying to make a wifi call. The fellow told me that I would have unlimited data and texting, but noted that as long as I didn't pick up a call or place one while I am out there, then I wouldn't be charged for a call. But at least it would only be 25 cents a minute for calls while I'm out of the country. Online searches turned up tips such as turning off Roaming (connection to data services) to turn off cellular data completely when you're out of the country. "If you choose this option, you'll still be able to get phone calls and texts whenever you're logged into a Wi-Fi network or hotspot. But your phone will not send or receive data on networks such as 3G, 4G, or LTE." However, I suspect that would basically kill the T-Mobile International benefit and would be a better idea for those on other plans/services. To minimize data use: Go to phone Settings - go to Accounts & sync - click to turn off Auto-Sync. The new phone carrier said "all good" from their end; the phone guy they sent our for the install said everything "should be working fine"; heck, we even had some big telecom company technician here for 2 hours saying something in the system must be burnt out and their solution was to sell us a $5,000 new phone system! Yikes! This morning I stumbled onto Gallo Telecom's website. I spoke with Dean and in less than 5 minutes I knew this guy could figure it out. I got him some information he needed; he tested our phone lines remotely and after about 15 minutes for reasons known to only Dean and God, he figured out the new phone carrier programmed our lines incorrectly!!!! I called the carrier; told them exactly what Dean told me to say; and like magic, the system is working perfectly! Absolutely and without the slightest hesitation, Dean is my hero. If needed, I would call him again in less than a minute and suggest to anyone else who needs a Guru in the Telecom World to do the same. He made it simple, effortless and as uncomplicated as it could possibly be for the lay person. My hat is off to you Dean and everyone else at Gallo Telecom. That was my experience with Astound/RCN.** Their door-to-door representative promised internet for $30 a month, inclusive of all taxes and fees, locked in for three years, plus a $100 gift card. What followed was a year and a half of rising bills, repeated calls, and unfulfilled promises. Within the first few months, additional charges began appearing. By around six months, the promised $30 monthly total was climbing. Eventually, my bill reached approximately $51.60--with the internet service itself listed at just $21 and the remaining $30-plus attributed to taxes and fees. Every time I questioned the increases, I heard the same explanation: "It's not us--it's taxes and fees." What value does an all-inclusive price guarantee have if the total keeps increasing? As for the $100 gift card, I called repeatedly. Each time, I was told it was being sent. It never arrived. The cancellation experience was the final insult. I first called on September 20 to cancel. I was asked to give them a couple of days while someone got back to me. My cancellation was finally completed on September 23--after their billing-cycle cutoff on September 21--and I was charged another approximately $51.60 for a full billing cycle. I contacted them before the cutoff, waited at their request, and ended up with another full bill. That is an outrageous way to treat a departing customer. Then came calls from supervisors offering deals to persuade me to stay. Where was that willingness to help when I was repeatedly questioning my bills and asking for the gift card I had been promised? **To me, this was deception: a sales promise that bore little resemblance to the actual experience.** Astound/RCN lost my trust through rising charges, repeated assurances that led nowhere, and a deeply frustrating cancellation process. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering their service to get every promise in writing--and scrutinize the cancellation terms just as carefully as the advertised price.
