This park has a collection of farm animals right smack in the middle of a residential area. In the park were also two playgrounds; one for small kids and one for big kids and a little league baseball field. The day we were there, Sunday. There was also a clown, a ice cream truck and a street vendor with a rolling cart. The vendor sold flavored ice cones and fresh corn on a stick. There was so much going on at the park. It put most parks to shame. One of the best Sunday's I have had in a long while was spent here. Plenty of parking. Trash cans everywhere. Two unisex bathrooms available to the public. Just a great park to take your family. Highest rating. Jealous I don't have a park like that in my neighborhood.

Very good family experience, vendors around and clean park!

Great family park! There's plenty of vendors and the zoo is a bit small but fun time!

As I'm riding south along the Rio Hondo bike path, I come across a wood plank bridge that crosses into Grant Rea Sports Park. Score, another restroom stop along this bike path! The majority of the park is dedicated to baseball and softball fields. A batting cage. They even have a mini field for little leaguers, which is kinda cute. As I continued down the bike path, there looked to be a fairly large kids playground area. Lo and behold, I also saw the Montebello Barnyard Zoo. Looks to be a petting zoo filled with ponies and farm animals. Seems like an awesome setup for little kids. There are also emu and llamas! Very cool. There's several parking lots as well as street parking here. Seems like a great place to take your kids to, or to entertain the kid within you. (^_^)

We love their 4th of July celebration. They also have a splash pad, batting boxes, and a small petting zoo.

Admission requires a wristband. Pre-sale wristbands were $5 for San Marino residents and $15 for non-residents, while day-of admission at the gate was $20 for everyone. If you plan to attend, buying in advance is definitely worth it. Our group arrived around 7:00 AM to lay down ropes and blankets to reserve a good viewing spot. It may sound early, but many families do the same, especially if you want a prime location for the evening fireworks. There was something for everyone throughout the day. Kids enjoyed the Family Fun Zone with games, face painting, bingo, and a photo booth. The community parade, live performances, and entertainment kept the atmosphere festive all afternoon. Several food truck available, making it easy to spend the entire day at the park. One thing that really stood out was how clean and well-maintained everything was. The restrooms were surprisingly clean despite the large crowd, and the entire event was very well organized. Staff and volunteers kept everything running smoothly, creating a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience for families. The night ended with a spectacular fireworks show at 9:00 PM, making it a wonderful way to celebrate Independence Day. They also have open fields where you can play catch or have a picnic. They have some pave roads where kids can bike, scooter or rollerskate. They also have tennis courts on the side of the park and they also have lessons for those who were interested. Unfortunately, they recently implemented charging non residents during the weekends. I don't support this charge since public parks should be for everyone. Whether or not you are living in the city. Other than that come to visit during the weekdays when it's free!
