I recommend Scott highly. I found him on Yelp (tons of stellar reviews), after having a severe clog affecting the whole house. I left a message and right after that, I also contacted a friend to ask who they used for their recent remodel. By coincidence, they responded Grant Plumbing, and couldn't say enough good things. I told them I had just contacted him. He had a new $800 snake and it broke in half while he was trying to unclog this pipe issue and he was so chill about it. I felt horrible. He spent a long time trying to get the clog fixed, but in the end, it was so severe, we needed a company with a heavy duty video camera. He recommended the company (Brandt Plumbing). He felt bad that I also had other issues with the plumbing, due to a recent remodel that hadn't gone that well. He ended up charging me about 1/4 of what he should have, and he broke his new pricey piece of equipment, to boot. I have used him since and he always responds immediately. I'd give these guys zero stars if Yelp allowed. My tankless water heater stopped heating water, so I called Grant and Scott (the owner) spoke with me on the phone. He claimed that they were knowledgeable about these and could find the problem. Scott himself did NOT come to the job, instead he sent someone else. This guy clearly knew little to nothing about water heaters in general. He opened the unit looked around, pulled a tube and pretended he knew anything at all. After 15 minutes he got on the phone with Scott and spend a good 20 minutes or so on and off on the phone. Then he told me that the problem was the COMPUTER, but that I was better off fixing it. I asked for quotes and he "called his supplier" (later he contradicted himself and said he called Scott) and said they would get back to him shortly. Then he said: "Well you have me hear for another 20 minutes as you pay for the hour, so let me poke around more". 20 minutes precisely later, he asked me to pay the $120 of his "inspection visit" and promised me that I'd have a quote for fixing the unit as well as installing a new one within the day. It's been two days and I'm yet to hear back. I had a second plumber come by and within 15 minutes, he'd diagnosed the problem, showed it to me and the unit is working right now! Bottom line is, Grant just wants to collect money from plumbing visits as Scott and his team really don't have a clue of what they are doing (they can probably do easy things like unclog toilets). tl; dl; Grant plumbing is going to try to cash money from you for no work, don't call them! read more

As a property manager I'm always looking for a great plumber. Scott Grant is now my go to plumber for all my properties. He's extremely knowledgeable, responsible and tries to save you money wherever he can. He does a very thorough job and makes sure the plumbing issue is completely resolved instead of just doing a quick fix that may not resolve the problem. Just recently I had him come out to take a look at a leak in an apartment. He was able to quickly isolate the root of the problem, fix the problem and take steps to repair the damage that was already done (including personally calling several sources to get me a great price on renting a large heater to dry out some badly water damaged areas behind the walls). Having just sold a house and bought a new one, I have been dealing with many different service people. Scott stands out a one of the best - great communication (including email), prompt, efficient, knowledgable, personable, honest and practical. He helped me review plumbing items flagged in our home inspection report providing advice on which items were genuine issues worth addressing and which were not. I am still trying to get Scott to return my calls about the shoddy job he performed on my clogged toilet to the tune of $700.00. Even my contractor called him and got no response. He apparently poked a small hole in the clog and then assumed it was fixed. When that didn't work, he did come back and did the same thing all over again. But this time when he replaced the toilet, he didn't seal it properly and when it backed up yet again the backup came under the hardwood floor and ruined that and the subfloor. This guy is not to be trusted to do dependable work and I am now investigating how in the world I can get my money back! I recently closed escrow on a house in San Mateo that is over 50 yrs old. Usually the plumbing still can be in decent shape, but because this particular house is against a hillside, water from the hill passes under the house. The presence of moisture accelerated the corrosion on the cast iron sewer main in the crawl space. I called a few plumbers. Scott has over 13 years of experience and his estimated price was very competitive, so I hired him to replace my sewer main. My crawlspace is very moist and 18 inches from soil to joists, which makes this job very difficult. Scott and his crew promptly came to the house, finished the job in 2 days, and even located water accumulation by the side of my house that needed attention. Now I have a new sewer main that will hopefully last another 50 years. Overall, I thought Scott was very professional, and he successfully completed the project without any hiccups. I have been using Scott for several years after being referred to him by my sister-in-law. My prior plumber had retired and I spent many years looking for someone I felt was reliable, high quality, trustworthy and fairly priced. Well I finally found him and his name is Scott Grant and he has done minor and major jobs for me. I never wrote an online review of anyone but latest service by Scott is just too good to go unnoticed. On Friday evening at about 7:00 PM I called Scott because I had a leak under my kitchen sink. Scott knew I was in a bind but unfortunately he was not available on Saturday but he could send someone from 10 to 11. The person arrived about 10:15 and within an hour I had the problem resolved. As an update...Scott did text me and showed up the following day to do his estimate and emailed it to me within 24 hours. His pricing is very fair and he also gave me some honest advice. I had mistakenly thought the water heater had to be elevated off the ground 18 inches to be up to code. Another plumber tried to charge extra for this without saying anything, but Scott told me the newer water heaters did not have to be raised off the ground anymore. Had an emergency plumbing issue -- didn't want large firm but wanted someone who was local to San Mateo and experienced. Reached Scott directly -- over the phone he was very knowledgeable about the issue and how to fix it. Called a few other places but got either answering services or telesales. Decided to go with Scott -- after showing up, he and his worker were very efficient at fixing the issue and Scott also fixed another minor issue we had in our bathtub.
