Popped into this quaint, eclectic stop on a recommendation, about 1130 & they were down to 5 donuts, 3 plain & 2 cinnamon/sugar. We opted for the 2 cinnamon and sugar & attempted to pay. They refused our money and, instead, frosted 2 cake donuts & gave us those, too. I tried to put a tip in the jar & denied. Ha. Super friendly people. We ate our frosted tasters while checking out the alpacas across the lot & they were quite good. Since they're closed for the next few days, we'll hafta bookmark them for next time. Im so happy i finally made it here in all my trips to Bozeman. We got there before open and there was already a line but totally worth the wait. The inside is small and cozy but gets crowded quickly so Be prepared and know what you want once you get to the counter and keep it moving! $10 for a dozen is amazing for these fabulous treats! They do have limited premade dozens that are grab and go if you don't care what you get and want to avoid the line. We basically got one of everything for our Yellowstone roadtrip. Being a connoisseur of cronuts and reading the reviews, I had to try this institution. Arriving about an hour after opening on a Friday, I was about the third person in line. Deb who was actually making donuts behind the side bar as the other woman behind the donut case packing donuts for customers, offered me a sample with coconut that was smooth and delicious. Unlike others purchasing dozens at a time, I ordered four. Pricing is $1 a donut and $2 for Apple fritters. So amazingly delicious, I returned the next day as I was heading past Bozeman to Cody WY. Arriving again about an hour after opening, I was surprised to see a line flowing out the door. When I got inside, Deb proclaimed "back again". I said the donuts were amazing and she asked what was my favorite? I told her the cream filled. She then proceeded to make one on the spot for me. What a sweetheart. We arrived in town Sunday after Granny's had closed. The hours they are open are Fri-Sat and Sun. Combine great reviews with donuts and you know we had to check them out. So we arrived just before 8:00am on a Friday. The parking lot was full as was the street. We found a spot to park and went in to get some donuts. We ordered 4 donuts. Their special was a strawberry donut, then also an orange cream, dulce de leche and lemon. That cost us $4.00. WhatI?!? That's right, a dollar a donut. I think we're still shocked at that pricing. 3rd times the charm. The first time my husband and I drove to Granny's Donuts, we were hit with the reality that they only accept cash. Unfortunately, neither of us really use cash and there were no near by ATM's so we just turned around and left. On the second occasion, I pulled up an hour and a half before the shop was supposed to close - cash in hand. I was met with the "Sorry, we are closed signs" on the doors and windows. It was such a bummer. I'm not sure why they closed early but I tried to look it up on their social media pages with no luck. It doesn't look like they utilize it often. This time around, I made sure I had cash and woke up early! I got there around 10am and originally had to wait outside. The line moves fairly quickly but the inside is pretty small so you have to maneuver around a bit. The donuts were good and you can't beat the price. The Bismarck donuts were my favorite. A family behind me had a child and the team let her make her own special sprinkled donut - that was super cute and a fun experience for kids! I can't say these are the best donuts I've ever had but they're definitely at the top of the list in the area. Getting here is about a 40-minute round trip from home so I'll likely only be back when I'm in the area & have access to cash. read more

To begin our experience at Granny's was beautiful and fulfilling. As soon as we walked in they were super welcoming, the older gentleman asked if my son who's is on the spectrum wanted to make his own donut and i mentioned that he may not want to; then went on to explain that he was on the spectrum and he said i totally get it and we can continue to see if he wants too. He was very polite and respected his boundaries even when trying to see if my son would be up for it. It means so much to me when people accept my son and are inclusive with him. That alone made me want to go back. Apart from that- the donuts, just wow. I don't even like donuts, my son does, but i tried one and apparently i like granny's donuts! Bring cash only! Expect a fast moving wait. A tiny, dive, mom and pop donut shop. I'm assuming it was the owner stirring up a delicious maple batter (by the smell of it) when I got to the counter. I ordered 4 different varieties to try. Got to the register where the cashier/owner asked how many. "4," I said. "That will be $4." What?! The same would be $16 in my hometown. I now know why Granny's is seen as a Bozeman landmark. The only thing more charming than the shop are the people who work there/frequent there. Such warm and friendly people and the donuts were absolutely delicious. Very affordable as well. My only regret is I can't come back every week since I am only visiting. This was my first stop in Montana and it did not disappoint at all! We were walking around Montana University and saw it on a whim. I checked the review and was amazed at the high rating so I checked it out. I got there about 30 minutes before they close so unfortunately, they ran out of the 2 things I wanted: apple fritters and the coffee creme donut...I ended up getting the strawberry donuts, the orange creme, a regular cake donut, and a apple filling donuts. Even though they don't look like anything amazing, they were delicious!!!! My favorite was definitely the cake donut. It was so simple but the texture and flavor was spot on. My second favorite was the orange creme. This was recommended by the girl who helped me. I love the subtle crunch on the outside and inside was filled with orange cream. They also used zest on it so you definitely get a nice citrus taste. The best part??? It was $1/donut or $10/dozen!!!!! You can't get a gourmet donut in Washington for lest than $3 these days!!!!!! Holy crapola, these are some amazing donuts! I consider myself a bit of a donut connoisseur and will be honest and say that I was a bit skeptical when we arrived and the donuts had a sort of appearance of what you'd see at a grocery stores. BUT as soon as we walked in, the owner and other staff member were super friendly and greeted us with big ol' smiles on their faces and questions about our day, our time in Bozeman, and our home towns. They immediately made me feel at home and happy to be there. My friends and I decided to order 6 donuts of different flavors ranging from Orange zest, to maple glazed to sprinkles. As we were about to leave, the owner called my friend and I over (it was our first time visiting) and let us glaze and sprinkle our own donuts. I could see how much joy he got from this and I'm guessing he does this with most new guests. We ended up leaving with 8 donuts for a total of $6! How amazing is that? We went outside on their picnic tables to enjoy the donuts and holy moly, these are some damn good donuts. They are soft and flakey with a rich, yeasty flavor. The donuts themselves are quite mild and almost savory, yet the sweet glazes balance out the flavor. They were realllllllllly delicious! Before we left, the owner came outside with a large wooden donut, urging me to stick my head in it and take photos, which I definitely did! Regardless of the line out side; this place was sooo quick and efficient especially with having the patrons do their sprinkles on their donuts!! They sure play the part of the name! Easily my favorite donut shop I've been too. Great place, people, price, and most importantly donuts. Upon arrival, the smell of fresh donuts was prominent and fantastic. It's a small shop, but very pleasant. The staff was super friendly and the owner interacted with every customer in the quick moving line. He gave each child the chance to dip a free vanilla frosted donut in sprinkles for them to have, which was neat. As for the donuts themselves, I highly recommend the Maple Bar and Strawberry Bismarck. The Strawberry Bismarck had a sweet dollop of strawberry jam and a sliced strawberry on top, complimenting the vanilla glazed Bismarck wonderfully. The Cherry and Glazed Raised Donut were great as well. If you ever find yourself visiting Bozeman, it's worth the stop. read more

I googled local places and was excited to see how well reviewed this place was, so my friend and I quickly headed over to check this place out. We were there like 20 minutes before they closed, and they still had quite a few donuts, even for a Friday! We called before we went to Granny's donuts and whoever answered the phone was so friendly that we knew it would be worth the trip. The reviews said get there early because the donuts are best just out of the fryer and warm. We didn't get there early so some of the donuts were sold out. As soon as we arrived we were told that the staff could personalize a donut if they weren't available. Our daughter wanted a chocolate sprinkled donut so they customized two for her. We let them know it was our first trip to Granny's so the owner made me a personalized donut and I was able to add the sprinkles myself. The donuts we bought were cold so when we got home we put one in the air fryer for 3 minutes on 200 degrees. Made some hot tea and shared a hot donut with my guy. Delicious, soft, and warm! Because of the pandemic they are only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7:00 until 1:00. read more
