Being from Northern California, every great donut shop is owned by a Cambodian or Laotian family. The donuts are fantastic. Ok. Has this place changed names? That's the only reason I can think as to why it's not yet been reviewed. There's no way you can stop by here, pick up a few of their spectacular donuts, puff pastries, cinnamon rolls, bars or scones and not want to write a review. And because they also have gluten free cake and some gluten free donuts, I don't know why New Day has been missed. Although I came by late in the morning, after the rush, I was surprised to find there were still some goodies. I picked up a couple of donuts and some coffee on my way to another appointment. Expecting a standard run-of-the-mill confection, I was completely won over with the first bite of the plain, large donut that tasted like something grandma made. It was enough to make me slam on the brakes and say "holy xxxx". Had I known, I would have picked up a dozen to share. New Day also offers gluten free cake and some gluten free donuts. read more

It's a nice little bakery on the edge of town it's not very big and doesn't have a big selection but the doughnuts and bear claws are good. The coffee is decent to I like the decor of the place and they have a few seats. read more

Great doughnuts but ridiculous business practices. Sold out of plain old-fashioneds every time I go in. Which, I kid you not, is probably 15-times right now. Every time I ask why they don't make more and I get two responses: 1) They sell out the first because people like them the most. 2) They are all pre-sold to our wholesale clients. So why not make more for goodness sake? I really want to support this business because they make a great product, however, they have got to step it up. And $5.10 for a half-dozen? WTF. Just make it an even $5, or $5.50. Who wants $.90 change in their pocket. read more

If you are anywhere NEAR Belgrade MT do yourself a favor and stop at the New Day Bakery. You will have a really hard time picking just one or two delectable donuts or pastries. I had a glazed donut and a blueberry scone. They were absolutely wonderful. The scone was bursting with blueberries. The glazed donut was light and fluffy. Nice and fat with a perfect layer of glaze. The place is cozy and charming and the man who waited on us was uber-patient while my family went nuts trying to pick out the donuts of our choice. Awesome place! read more

My fiancée and I happened to stop nearby on our trip from New York to Seattle. This charming bakery in a small town in Montana competes with every NYC bakery I've ever frequented. With friendly service and phenomenal pastries I don't have anything negative to say. The only possible criticism I can give is that they appeared to sell out the day before quite early - although I'm not so sure that's a bad thing unless you get there late and frankly that would be your own fault. Smelled good...thats where the goodness ended. Doughnuts were dry and heavy. Kids ordered hot cocoa - it was made with scorching hot water and not enough powder to make it chocolate. I looked at the menu and saw "maple bacon" and asked for one, the response was "if you dont see it, I dont have it" (fyi doughnuts in case were not labeled...) a man walked in behind our group of 7 and the employee looked at him and said "close my door please, the nees like it in here (insert snotty tone)" Less than impressed - all around: service, product and experience. read more

Visited this establishment again today. My 5yr old loves going there. Any way. I thought I'd give them a chance since the first couple of days I was there had not been as friendly but I was wrong. Older lady is rude. Not a people person. Seems to get bothered when customers walk in. No smiles no greetings. She ran my debit card (seems like she can't see from close up) and immediately toss my card back to me and said it was denied. I said not possible as I know I have money in my account. She noticed my reaction and quickly suggested she run it again (guessing she didn't want the packed donuts back) and this time I read my numbers to her and behold my card went right through. And again no have a nice day or anything. Donuts are ok but great. Wish I didn't have to go back but for my child I will do anything. But always to go bag. Until I find a better place I will be forced to come back. Very rude and unprofessional. read more

Nice bakery. Not impressed with the cheese and ham croissant. Got 3 bites into it and it was all dough. We were heading out of town so I called to let them know we received 2 raw pastries and I was told to "put them in the oven to cook them". I very much enjoy their old fashioned glazed, cherry glazed and apple fritter. The classic maple round and chocolate rounds are good, but only when warmed up. The topping gets hard and almost crunchy, which really takes away from the wonderfully baked dough. read more

Just this morning - walked in, nobody else there - one woman said hi, the other continued to drink her coffee - finally asked after a few minutes if she could help me. While ordering, she continually corrected me ... "oh you mean green sprinkles, oh you mean bear claw.." Sadly, I left a tip and upon me leaving, there was not even a "thank you." I did get a "you're welcome" from MY thank you, though ... I called and the lovely woman who helped me was either the owner and/or the manager as she replied "that's me" to my inquiry of speaking with either. As of this post, this is the first and only 5 star I have ever given and it's richly deserved. I first visited New Day years ago on the recommendation of a friend (it was in a different location and I don't often deviate from my 'regular' haunts) and the first impression I had has kept me coming back all this time. The person who helped me (one of the owners) was charming and genuine and threw in coffee and a free doughnut when I told him they had come highly recommended. To this day, this is the kind of place New Day is. I try to run by with the kids at least once a week and have experienced consistent acts of kindness and really spectacular food. One that stands out to me (and believe me, it's not a rare occurrence) happened a few years back when I stopped to get treats for a work meeting at 6am and realized I didn't have my wallet after ordering a full box for my coworkers... I was running late and really disappointed with myself but without batting an eye the person working told me it was no problem and I was welcome to come back and pay them later. These people don't know me from Adam and that's the kind of random kindness that inspires goodness everywhere. This also happened again later before they started taking cards and I had only my debit card and no cash - different clerk, same genuine trust and kindness to a stranger. This place not only has doughnuts that blow away every other one I've ever had, but will restore your faith in humanity if you're paying attention. read more
