The decor is bland and again, these mom and pop shops aren't known for their decors. We are here for the food. I ordered a fish and chip and it came out fresh and piping hot. Not too burnt but very crispy. The boss lady came by to check in on us and it's nice to connect with small businesses around the corner in the neighbourhood. The inside and furnishings were a bit on the old and used too much side. I would recommend they do some renovations to spruce the place up. I would also recommend all yelpers and patrons to try this spot as the halibut fish and chips are worth the visit and money. For takeout, we were peeved that they used pre-packed condiments for tartar sauce rather than provide some homemade or dine-in option. But the fish itself was golden & crunchy on the outside with pleasant flaky fillet texture inside. Well worth it, and they even offer $11 Sun/Mon specials. As for the Halibut & Chips, we were sadly underwhelmed by our first attempt. The fish is firm, mild in flavour with perhaps a little bit of sweetness. It tasted rather bland. We may have to try it fresh to see if it's an acquired taste. Otherwise we'll stick to cod/haddock. The fries accompanying both were a tad soggy but did a bit better with a splash of S&P. To be honest, we've had comparable fish & chips elsewhere. We've even started to rely on our own air fryer at home to cut some grease. However, for convenience it's good to know that Halibut House is a fish & chip option just a stone's throw away from us!

The haddock was good - tasty & reasonably crispy even eaten 15 mins later as takeout. The chips had an authentic British crispiness, so they'd have been better when fresh. The shrimp was coconut shrimp rather than being normal battered shrimp (this isn't mentioned on the main menu, but elsewhere). It was decent, though the slightly spicy cocktail sauce did not really go with it. There was quite a bit of "shrimp" (i.e. reformed shrimp patty with a shrimp tail stuck in). Both dishes came with a small serving (sauce container) of coleslaw. It was decent - crisp & tasty, though a touch sharp.

I have been to this plaza a few times over the years. I've been to the Tim Hortons a handful of times. I was at Mom's Pan-fried Buns a few months ago, which is a couple of businesses down from The Big Catch. This plaza has lots of parking. I pulled into a parking spot and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a friendly, efficient woman. I got halibut and chips as my main meal. I paid for a can of Diet Coke with a credit card. Tap. Done! I found a table. I caught up with some photos on my phone. It didn't take long for my food to arrive. I had to ask for my Diet Coke. She was running the entire fry-seating show, so I was patient. I finally got my drink. Yay! The halibut was a decent portion. I got a lot of fries. My meal came with a lemon slice and tartar sauce. There was also a bottle of ketchup on the table. I loved the halibut. The batter was light and crispy. The fish was flaky and yummy. I loved dunking my halibut in the tartar sauce that tasted homemade. The fries were good. Just too many of them for my liking. I dunked them in both ketchup and tartar sauce. My Diet Coke helped wash everything down. Thank goodness I got one. It was cold. I got a straw. The woman was great. She asked how my meal was while I was dining. It was a nice touch. I had to use the washroom twice. I came into the eatery after driving for 1.5 hours from Mississauga and downing a beverage. It's a single stall for everyone. It was clean, but dated. I used it again before I headed home. It's funny that I had washroom in mind when I got here that I completely forgot to grab some change to leave a tip. I went back to my car to get some, came back into the eatery, and let the woman know that I was back to give a tip. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Generous serving size as well as perfectly fried French fries. Meal came with delicious coleslaw & we had a gravy on the side. All of it very tasty! It's a small restaurant but has a great feel to it. Authentic is how I'd describe it. I think this is a do-over.

He was rushing me while I was telling him my order because he said he was busy, he kept getting my order wrong and talking over me - when I tried to tell him the correct order, he rudely said I was wasting his time and started yelling at me. I was so shocked I just hung up on him! Then I went to write a google review and they deleted it!!!!! Horrible customer service, and probably horrible food. You can find better in Caledon, don't go here!
