State and Main has great vibes and good food. Would definitely visit again when in the area. I enjoyed the chicken tenders with fries. Thought the texture and flavor of the wings was on point. The service was also very good and attentive. read more

I love State and Main. The apps and wine are really great. Get that bang bang shrimp! The ambiance is nice as well. The high top is fairly comfortable. Service this time was slower than usual as they didn't check on us very often. And the tuna sushi is just okay. But the pretzels and the beer cheese..yum. And they also cook fish here so well! The salmon was great. I will keep returning! Oh also... A while ago I tried the grilled cheese burger. That was insane and so good. Soo bad for me but Soo good. read more

Ordered through door dash. We ordered 2 steak dinners (empire state). They prepared it pretty quickly. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the ambiance since I didn't pick up my own order. The empire state is a 10oz new york striploin and we could choose 2 sides. I chose seasame brown rice and and mixed vegetables. I asked for medium rare. Despite some distance in delivery, the food remained warm. The food was good. They got the medium rare perfectly. The only thing is, the crust was a little more charred for my liking and some parts of the steak was dry. I wouldn't mind going in store to try. read more

Way overpriced and somewhat pretentious. Very little on the menu i cared to try. The wings were average but not the inflated price. I can't say i will bother to return again. I can get a lot more value for the money spent elsewhere. read more

Went here for lunch with a whole saler and my boss. We were greeted quickly and seated in a booth. I like the vibe of this bar. It wasn't overly packed but there was a lot of people enjoying their food throughout the restaurant. We had wings, calamari (which was deeeeeeelicious), I had the spicy thai salad - it was okay. Forgot the noodles was in there and it took me by surprise - it was super filling. My boss got the fish and chips, he enjoyed it but said it was too much batter. His friend got the teriyaki bowl which was demolished in minutes. I liked the server, she was outgoing and nice. Will definitely come back to try their other dishes and maybe will change my review then! Happy eating fellow yelpers! read more

Our food this evening was superb. The atmosphere was as expected for a Friday evening and our server was attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed the fish tacos and the pistachio encrusted salmon. We highly recommend both. read more

Good food, quick service, prices moderate, comfortable seating. Definitely going back!

Holiday functions at the right place can be a tricky sort, catering So many different tastes and preferences can become an aggravation. With State and Main, there are many options, and I can probably say no one was disappointed. In fact, with a clear and easy to navigate on line presence, pretty much everyone knew what they were getting. The service was touch and go, friendly and a reasonable level of attentiveness. We changed up our drink order, but some of us got a drink and a beer, without clarification. I'll take the hit on that one. The food was ok, serviceable but the appetizers, such as the calamari was q bit stringy (it I can use that expression) and the sprouts an ok option. I cant speak for others, but the burgers seemed tasty, and I had the fish and chips. Ther coating was light and not too greasy, and the fries were a bit salty and I left most on the plate (which is very unusual for this 'chazer.' In any event, a pretty good and reasonable option for a team outing. Our group had about 13 in total, and stayed for quite a bit of time. read more

Ordering from State &Main is a real treat in my house...I look forward to it along with my children. the Bang Bang shrimp were small and tasted just ok... Thai noodle salad was similar. My sons jalapeño Mac and cheese tasted processed and pasty... Not a good experience from a place I usually love to go to or order from. read more

Our server Lucy was very sweet. We came for some half price wings on Wednesday and I must say, they were some of the best wings I've ever had. I have been to state and main in the past and the service is usually satisfactory but not this time. To add, I like my wings CRISPY. In the past I have not been so impressed but this time the guys in the kitchen understood the mission at hand. Whoever was working the fryer on Wednesday thank you very much for your patience and leaving my wings in the fryer for an extra 3 minutes. I will be coming back next Wednesday! read more

Excellent atmosphere, good prices, and delicious food. Ordered the calamari, a little too salty, and then the mahi mahi fish tacos with a side salad. We have now been here for more than an hour and the service is going down the drain. Our order for main course was just taken after 55 minutes! Forty minutes later we are agreed that we will not come back to what used to be our favourite restaurant in Aurora. Steak was stringy and cool and asparagus was tough. No one ever checked to see if the meal was good and when the plates arrive cold it does nothing for mashed potatoes. Sad fail. read more

[Applewood Salmon Burger] $17.50 - this is a filet of an applewood salmon on a brioche bun. The bun is slathered with red pepper aioli and then finished with all the fixings of lettuce, tomato, avocado, and bacon (which I asked to be omitted). I LOVE THIS SANDWICH/BURGER, whatever you call it! Where has it been all my life? I never thought that avocado was missing on my burgers but wow, this addition to the burger truly took my breath away. I just love how everything in this burger creates a wholesome experience when it comes to flavor and value. Give it a try if you like salmon! read more

Went here for a friends birthday - the service was first of all super friendly and accommodating. We wanted to all be together and then move the tables which was no problem. We also all wanted separated bills and split stuff (a super annoying task) and our waitress was amazing and so nice about it. Her name (Sarah) made our experience better then it would've been without her. The food was also good especially the bang bang shrimp. I recommend this place for groups! read more

Been here a few times as I meet with clients north of the city. Last time, I was flying solo as I was burning time between meetings. It's a pub/restaurant/sportsbar...and they do it better than the other ones in the area. They have their own brews - $5 all day and they're pretty good. Their menu items are gastropub kind of upscale and there is something for everyone. I chose the chorizo lasagna for lunch and though it was cheesy, meaty, pasta-y, I found it very salty too. Well...you know what that means...more drinks! :) Nothing here blows me away but it continues to be a steady place to go when I am in the area. read more

Food & drinks Fish tacos: 2 fish tacos, with a side of sweet potato fries. Was pretty flavorful, generous portions. Was filling! Spanoka flatbread: VERY flavourful! Would definitely order again. Flatbread with very fresh ingredients including spinach, tomatoes, cheese, and a balsamic drizzle. Service - Good service for patio! Attentive and catered to our requests in a timely manner. Price - $$, somethings were pricey for what they were. Overall - would come back if i were in the area for patio. Food was good, but nothing tooooo amazing. Bar food as expected! I came here with my boyfriend for a late night dinner. Decor is very modern. The bar side was busy because the hockey game was on. The dining side was pretty quiet. It was margarita night for $7! I had the original lime margarita but it was not in a margarita glass sadly enough. We started off with the calamari which was very tasty with spicy sriracha mayo on top. I had the Gogi tacos which is the Korean pork with coleslaw and coriander and spicy mayo. My side was a Ceasar salad. Very tasty. My boyfriend had a enchilada. It was also very good. The service was excellent as well! All in all it was a good place to go to watch the game or to relax and have a drink. The food was good but not excellent to get a 5 star. I would come back here again. read more

Was in the area yesterday and was looking for a place to do some work with free WiFi and grab a quick bite to eat. I remembered that this new spot had taken over the old Blockbuster Video (RIP) in the Canadian Tire/Winners plaza and while apart of a small chain coming from the West is the only known location around. The space is impressive with gorgeous detailed fixtures, a huge well stocked bar, a squeaky clean bathroom (some find this important) and a gorgeous outdoor patio space (by most patio standards). To put it in perspective, this is a moxies/earls modern vibe that is trying to make themselves slightly more edgy by utilizing a more rustic reclaimed wood and metal mixture design Points for service as the staff were friendly and extremely friendly. I had Samantha who made incredible recommendations, was very attentive and in general just awesome - 5 star server! For food I went with the Fish Tacos (I seem to be on a kick lately), my thoughts were as follows: - at first glance, a huge portion - presentation 5/5 - great flavour - small amount if fish however - a touch overkill on the shredded lettuce as filler, approximately 60% shredded subway iceberg lettuce - not a fan A saving grace with the meal was the accompanying side salad of mixed greens was great. Light on dressing with a nice bite of goats cheese, I'm stealing this recipe for myself at home. For a first visit I found the total package to be A-OK and would likely return t try some other offerings and adjust my review accordingly. So until next time... Eatcrest Out read more

Great local bar food with a twist. The menu had lots of different items for all tastes and it did not disappoint. I really wanted something healthy and chose the Hollywood bowl. It was a cold dish but extremely tasty and fresh. We went on a Saturday night and although the place was packed we did get a table right away. Staff was very friendly. Unfortunately I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of our meals but our whole party of 4 was very pleased with our food and will definitely go back! read more

As usual, I've only remembered to take a pic of my food after I've already dug in. What can I say? I was hungry! The meal pictured also came with a side garden salad. I was here with some friends on a Monday night, and didn't really know what to expect as far as food goes. I'd been here a couple of times before soon after the place first opened, and at that time my meals were mediocre at best. I've got to say I was pleasantly surprised this time. What a different a couple of years can make! I ordered the Main Burger, which came with two sides. I opted for the garden salad and the jalapeño mashed potatoes. Everything was really good. The burger was juicy and tasty; the mashed potatoes were real, and had a little kick to them (maybe could have used a bit more jalapeño, but that's just being picky); and the salad was nice as well. Especially the addition of dried apple chips. They also seem to have a fair selection of beer on tap here. I tried one of the house beers, and although it was nothing to write home about, it was also nothing to complain about either. All said, I'm glad I came back and gave this place another shot. And I'll definitely be back again read more

Came back for a light dinner last night. Service was very good. We tried their Caesar Salad without chicken. It was very tasty, just the right amount of dressing (hate when restaurants overdue the quantity of dressing), lots of bacon bits, and fresh parmigiana cheese. Then we had their flatbread. I don't remember the name but it had goat cheese on it. The flatbread was delicious. The crust was thin and crispy. Very good. I seldom give 5 stars to Restaurants but this deserved a 4.5 star. read more

$23 for a Reuben sandwich and an iced tea? How good does it need to be? State and Main looks a lot like Milestones on the inside, definitely a rich interior. The menu has a pretty good variety at slightly elevated prices, but the Reuben sandwich caught my attention as a decent lunch at $14. Maybe a bit spendy, but with 2 side dishes, I was in. I selected a Caesar salad and cup of the Bacon and Tomato soup. Of course a Reuben needs some hot mustard, so I asked for a bit. Surprise! The soup was not one of the permitted side dishes, so add that to the bill. I was not offered the second side dish. And don't forget that they charge for condiments-the two tablespoons of mustard was $1.25 extra. If I had added relish, ketchup and mayo, would I expect another $3.75? Glad I didn't find out. But is it a Reuben worth $20? I would not have a problem with any dish that lives up to its price, but this was no better than a $9 Reuben at any Montreal style deli. read more

I've been here multiple times, and am currently in the process of finding more friends who haven't been, so I can take them. I'll admit, when I first went in, I assumed it was going to be a snooty, upscale wannabe type of restaurant. How quickly my judgement was changed. The atmosphere is great- relaxed, energized, and hugely social. Some may describe it as "loud", and I'm sure it is if you prefer to eat in silence. But for those of us who tend to chat and eat, it's great. TVs all over the walls, playing various sports. A dimmer lit dining experience, similar to The Keg, however it creates an intimate feel, and is a great place for date night or girls night (Thursdays are 1/2 price bottles of wine!) The menu is concise and sweet. Great selections of appetizers and mains. It's big enough to provide variety, but not too big in that you get lost with it. A modern style menu, one page front and back. Clean and simple. Most of the main dishes come with 2 side orders, so you're certainly getting your money's worth. I highly recommend the Bang Bang Shrimp- spicy, crispy, shrimpy, deliciousness. Many of the servers who have waited on us are great girls. They know the menu, they know the drinks. Even on a busier night, our orders arrive within a fair amount of time. I'm never left wondering where the heck my food is. They're pretty good about checking up on your as well, which is often something that is missed in other restaurants. Smiling, happy, hardworking girls. They do a great job. read more

I came here for the Bacon and Tomato Soup. I decided to read up on the nutritional information AFTER my visit. Here's what I consumed: SERVING SIZE 382g CAL 790 FAT 48g SAT FATS 27g TRANS FAT 0g CHOL 145mg CARBS 57g FIBER 4g PROTEIN 26g SODIUM 2370mg Do you see the amount of sodium in that?! Someone between the ages of 14-50 should only be consuming 1500mg of it. That one bowl of soup was almost DOUBLE my daily intake. I basically ate a bowel of salt. Yes, I'll admit, is was absolutely delicious, but seeing that made me want to regurgitate my food. *induce vomiting* I give that soup a .5, because I feel gross after eating it, but I would like to go back as the decor was great and the service was friendly and welcoming. The menu was appealing and as I have glutton intolerance it's really great to see a restaurant that has gluten free breads and buns. Read the nutrition guide before going here!!!! Be warned. read more

Nice place. My first time back in aurora since it opened. Very classy but casual looking place. This could easily become a favorite as aurora is sorely missing a place like this. Lots of TV's, lots of great Canadian beers on tap. Came here for lunch. Brought the kids. They don't have a printed kids menu but ask for what's on it. I had the tomato soup and a wedge salad. Tomato should was really good. Slightly salty - but good none the less. I love tomato soup - and I liked this one very much. The wedge was decent. It's missing bacon (didn't go back and check the menu to see if it was not included or just not in the recipe. Regardless - like everything else - bacon would make it better. The blue cheese was too clumped together too. Service was great and persistent. Must try if you're in aurora. read more
