Our food this evening was superb. The atmosphere was as expected for a Friday evening and our server was attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed the fish tacos and the pistachio encrusted salmon. We highly recommend both.

Holiday functions at the right place can be a tricky sort, catering So many different tastes and preferences can become an aggravation. With State and Main, there are many options, and I can probably say no one was disappointed. In fact, with a clear and easy to navigate on line presence, pretty much everyone knew what they were getting. The service was touch and go, friendly and a reasonable level of attentiveness. We changed up our drink order, but some of us got a drink and a beer, without clarification. I'll take the hit on that one. The food was ok, serviceable but the appetizers, such as the calamari was q bit stringy (it I can use that expression) and the sprouts an ok option. I cant speak for others, but the burgers seemed tasty, and I had the fish and chips. Ther coating was light and not too greasy, and the fries were a bit salty and I left most on the plate (which is very unusual for this 'chazer.' In any event, a pretty good and reasonable option for a team outing. Our group had about 13 in total, and stayed for quite a bit of time.

    Bang Bang Shrimp...

Ordering from State &Main is a real treat in my house...I look forward to it along with my children. the Bang Bang shrimp were small and tasted just ok... Thai noodle salad was similar. My sons jalapeño Mac and cheese tasted processed and pasty... Not a good experience from a place I usually love to go to or order from.

Excellent atmosphere, good prices, and delicious food. Ordered the calamari, a little too salty, and then the mahi mahi fish tacos with a side salad. The fish taco had fresh avocado, coleslaw and lime dressing. The side salad had fresh apples, walnuts and crispy fresh lettuce. Very enjoyable

    [Applewood Salmon Burger] $17.50 - yummy ~

[Applewood Salmon Burger] $17.50 - this is a filet of an applewood salmon on a brioche bun. The bun is slathered with red pepper aioli and then finished with all the fixings of lettuce, tomato, avocado, and bacon (which I asked to be omitted). I LOVE THIS SANDWICH/BURGER, whatever you call it! Where has it been all my life? I never thought that avocado was missing on my burgers but wow, this addition to the burger truly took my breath away. I just love how everything in this burger creates a wholesome experience when it comes to flavor and value. Give it a try if you like salmon!

    Aaahhhhh! $5 all day.

Been here a few times as I meet with clients north of the city. Last time, I was flying solo as I was burning time between meetings. It's a pub/restaurant/sportsbar...and they do it better than the other ones in the area. They have their own brews - $5 all day and they're pretty good. Their menu items are gastropub kind of upscale and there is something for everyone. I chose the chorizo lasagna for lunch and though it was cheesy, meaty, pasta-y, I found it very salty too. Well...you know what that means...more drinks! :) Nothing here blows me away but it continues to be a steady place to go when I am in the area.

Great casual Dining. Good selection of food to try, Nice ambiance. I ordered the salmon burger which came with two sides, salad and the red pepper soup. The soup was delicious. The salmon moist and flavourful...... mixed greens, red wine vinaigrette, goat cheese, walnuts, green apple & yam chips. So yummy, need I say more. Staff friendly and bonus 5 min from home. Going back for sure.

I came here with my boyfriend for a late night dinner. Decor is very modern. The bar side was busy because the hockey game was on. The dining side was pretty quiet. It was margarita night for $7! I had the original lime margarita but it was not in a margarita glass sadly enough. We started off with the calamari which was very tasty with spicy sriracha mayo on top. I had the Gogi tacos which is the Korean pork with coleslaw and coriander and spicy mayo. My side was a Ceasar salad. Very tasty. My boyfriend had a enchilada. It was also very good. The service was excellent as well! All in all it was a good place to go to watch the game or to relax and have a drink. The food was good but not excellent to get a 5 star. I would come back here again.

    Raw Nashville Chicken sandwich

State and Main is our usual go to for pub food. The food is ok and typically consistent. Yesterday we ordered take out and decided to try a new dish / Nashville Chicken sandwich. The chicken was completely raw. Not only disappointing but also so unsafe. My daughter had a couple of bites before she hit the raw Center. Very disappointed

Was seated in their dinning hall ( the other side is more of a bar) and ordered a brunch tower for two. The tower includes their signature malaysian scrambled eggs, chorizo sausage, bacon, Brussel sprouts, toast with buttermilk pancakes stacked at top of the tower. The tower was beautifully presented and what I love most about the tower is their pancakes. Truly fluffy and light with whipped cream on top of it. Overall, service was efficient and attentive, often checked on and refilling water. On top of that, the restaurant has great decor and parking is provided in the back of the restaurant. Its considered on a slightly higher end for brunch ($20-30 range), but it was truly an amazing experience. They also have daily promos so worth checking out for dinner and late night deals.

I must say that I do understand why people are drawn to the restaurant - it is very pretty and makes for wonderful pictures! This includes the lovely visuals of the food, which is beautifully presented and extremely photogenic. The taste of the food, although quite acceptable, fell just a bit short of its looks. The variety of colours was not matched with a variety of flavours, and everything was somewhat on the salty and greasy side. That being said, we very much enjoyed the potato hash, pancakes, and French toast. The portion sizes also outdid themselves - if you're coming here for brunch, just be prepared for a long nap in the afternoon! Service was excellent: prompt, helpful, and friendly. The interior is fairly spacious and elegantly decorated. Overall, a pleasant experience even if it's not the most spectacular - and perhaps worth a visit for some based on the aesthetics alone.

Both are non-negotiable and always hit. We still like to switch it up sometimes, and this visit we tried a few different dishes: * Kataifi-Wrapped prawn tempura: crunchy, and the wasabi mayo was my favorite part. * Nagasaki Champon with ramen: cozy and comforting. * Grilled Squid with butter: simple and done right * Beef Brisket Yaki Soba: savory and satisfying, with bonito flakes doing their little dance on top. * Karaage: coming from someone who doesn't love greasy food, this one was not greasy at all and still juicy inside. Lowkey missing their grilled beef intestine though Great highball selection as well. We got the peach highball for the one who likes sweet, and the yuzu highball for the one who likes sour. I went with the Snow beer Sapporo, topped with shaved frozen beer. Such a nice way to keep the beer cold without diluting it. Service here has always been amazing, whether they're busy or not, and that's a big reason why I keep coming back.

Out of the dishes we ordered, my favourite would be: grill pork belly, taro chips, yaki soba, and the fried shrimp prawn. If you want some chewy squid, then you could order the squid. The sauce tasted good but I could imagine cooking it to its perfection is hard, especially when the izakaya was actually pretty full due to the beer happy hour! The other issue would be finding a parking space. Otherwise, I would love to come back again.

But if you want to see how the kitchen works and drool over dishes comes out, this is the perfect spot. The service was ok. We did the classic tasting menu with wine pairing and our wine pairings kept coming later and later, which was also disappointing. I also got their award winning cocktail, down by the bay. It was fantastic! But the food was great. As part of the classic tasting menu you get 6 savory dishes and a dessert (to share). They start you off with an amuse bouche of bread with tomato cream. I could eat a whole basket of those. The courses are broken up into 3 pairs, so for the first we got the chopped salad and spicy ceviche. These are two of their best dishes and I wouldn't miss getting them. For the next course we got the chickpea fritters and country style ribs. These dishes were ok. The chickpea fritter was good but the ribs were overcooked, dry, and didn't have the greatest flavor. It would've been more flavorful with a good glaze. I would skip these dishes next time. And for the third course we got the rasa burger and truffle gnudi. The burger was good, but it was just a burger. The gnudi would be something I get again. For the final course we got the sticky bun. These bun was a very dry at the bottom, but otherwise good. I might try the ice cream sandwich next time. Cause it looked amazing too. Overall, great experience and a place I'd come back to. I'm glad I did the tasting menu, but if you're coming with a larger group, just order the whole dishes a la carte.

I ordered a peach/ginger drink and it was strong but really tasty, highly recommend! A few non-drinking ladies were given great recommendations for virgin cocktails! The food was also really good, most people got burgers which looked really good. I got the duck pizza which was really tasty but the crust could use work, it was a bit too crunchy and flat, I'm not sure what style I would call it but I prefer either a lightly crisp crust with a chewy bite or a fluffy crust, this was neither. I am a bit snobby when it comes to pizza so I'm definitely particular but the toppings were really unique and tasted yummy! Next time I'll go for a burger for sure. The service was excellent, I had made special arrangements to bring in a group of 16 people, and, being moms to young babies, some of us showed up later/earlier, some left earlier/later and we all had separate bills, so I know it wasn't the easiest to manage but our server honestly nailed it.
