We took the tram to high camp and enjoyed lunch here after a hike. The menu is small and German-inspired. The bratwurst burger was better than expected and the dishes at other tables looked good too. It is not inexpensive, but I appreciate the departure from typical restaurants. I wish the pool was still open, but still a nice outing. read more

What a perfect place to stop for lunch while up at Palisades Tahoe high camp. Great views, nice sit-down service where you can relax a bit before heading back out to the mountain. They have kids meals as well as crayons for them to color with. We went for lunch a little later in the afternoon (not during peak eating time), so did not have to wait to be seated at a table. However, I have to say they were still quite busy and we had to wait for one of the kids meals since the server forgot to put the order in. But all in all we enjoyed sitting down and taking a break from skiing. Now the food. Perhaps everything tastes better at high altitude, or after skiing, but everything tasted so good! The tomato soup was delicious and perfect for the cold weather. The pretzel was nice, but beware for those sensitive to spice-- the cheese dip was a bit too spicy for the kiddos. The highlight of this place was the terrace in the sun. The hostess who sat me was higher than a kite and I was almost worried for her. The black trumpet mushroom burger was tasty. Please Palisades, brief your volunteers who are at the aerial tram about the amenities there ;-) and suggest them to be less nosy. Unreasonably expensive price for mediocre food is to be expected once you're up in the mountain; however what's not acceptable is how extremely slow it is. It's not an exceptionally busy day and we were seated quickly, then ordered food and coffee. The coffee alone takes 50 minutes and only after we remind the staff. At 60 minute mark we told them that we were leaving, at which they finally came out with lukewarm pizza slices, $11 a piece. I'm normally calm when it comes to longer wait, but in this case it's especially inconsiderate to let skiers/snowboarders just sit here wasting precious usable hours of already overpriced lift tickets. The waiters, while could have been more attentive & proactive, are pleasant to deal with, and offer free meals (we ended up paying for pizzas but not coffee). They are the only reason why this establishment didn't get 1 star. But I won't ever be back. read more

The prices were pretty heft, they know you have no other choice but to pay or ski down the mountain to the village. The cheeseburgers half pound, were right around $20, appetizers 14 ish and extremely small and they are only open for lunch. Food and drinks were adequate, perfect example of a barely acceptable overpriced tourist trap. Our servers were nice but not super attentive. The cocktails were very slow and the food wasn't super speedy either. Love that there is a piano downstairs, although the old location in the other bar that seems now vacant was pretty epic overlooking the snowy cliff side with a grand piano. read more

My sister twisted her ankle during this trip & Mateos one of the servers took his time to help her down the steps! It's the kind gestures that make an impact. A strong 3.75, considering there is always a stigma for hotel/resort food! Allen and I came around 2:30 pm, and the place closed fairly soon after. Despite that, the service was still great and everyone was fine with us staying late to finish our meal. We were quickly seated next to a window with a great view of the slopes, and were quickly brought waters. Menu: pretty standard American dishes, with different categories. Pricing: pretty standard! Everything was pretty affordable, and what I expected. ($$) We ended up ordering: 1) Burger with fries ($17) : Unfortunately the cheese costed an extra $3!! (???) Not worth it in my opinion, since the burger itself came with lots of flavor. The fries were delicious, and they gave a ton! 1) Steak and fries ($21) : yes, yes...we were super extra LOL. The steak was good, but looked really dry. Luckily, the sauce was yummy, and the fries were perfect! It was probably about 4-5 oz. of meat. Overall, had a good time! Service Review: We were seated right away but waited almost 30 minutes before we decided to just leave because no waitress or waiter took our order. The table right next to was being served and we were waiting for someone to even acknowledge us. Staff looked at us with confusion as we were walking away. Not sure what they were confused about but I was confused about why they were even hired with their lack of service. Could be due to a lunch rush but we even had to go up to the bar to ask for waters. Not the best first impression but would rather grab a hotdog or a crepe at the Euro Snack stand. At least i know the service is quick, employees are nice, and the food is probably way better. read more

This might have been the worst restaurant experience ever. Went last Thursday 12/8. It was their first day open. First they charged me for an item that they did not have on the menu. I think it was the burrata. Then come to find out they could not take it off the bill because a manager was not present and he was the only one with a swipe card. So my bill came to $111.00 for my wife and two kids which is all fine. But come to find out they charged me double so I now have a $223.00 charge for a very mediocre meal to where I didn't even get one of the items charged. So I get it mistakes happen. I have been calling the 800 number since last week no response. I've left my name, number, talked to 3 different squaw agents. I don't even care about the crappy food or service I just would not liked to be charged twice for it. read more

Came this afternoon. Placed an order (2 cocktails & garlic fries) at 11:20. Order was promised for 11:40. Drinks came out fast and were awesome. Food came out later than promised. A little after 12 PM. Side of cheese not included (not a huge deal). But no one checked on us until after we asked where our fries were. We had to overhear a server tell the table next to us that the tickets for orders were not printing correctly. For a restaurant that has you order on your phone from a QR code, you think they'd might want to check up on guests when they're aware of technical issues. I understand technical issues are inevitable at times, but like I said, no one checked on us until after we got their attention. Wouldn't have even know about tech issues if we hadn't overheard the server. Was honestly glad we did not order any other food. Hoping for a better experience next time around. read more

The food is excellent! Innovative dishes with delicious ingredients perfect for a ski lunch. Service likewise excellent. On a busy ski day, be prepared for a substantial wait: 30-60 minutes. If you decide that the wait is too long, you can always go to the buffet cafeteria next door which uses the same kitchen. Also, the sun can be quite bright on a sunny day, reflecting off the snow and the sun will move substantially during an hourlong lunch: so your seat in the shade may be in direct sunlight in a half-hour. I got the assortment of seafood stew, costing $27. My husband ordered a bahn sandwich and our guest ordered a burger. Mine was bar far the worst of the 3. The plate also came out extremely hot, which makes me wonder if they just microwaved the plate with stew and added the seafood. The stew part was also extremely hot compared to the shellfish. It was all pretty flavorless. In the future I wouldn't count on holding the more expensive plates to a higher standard. read more

This was our first visit. It's really the only option at the top. Food was good but service left a little to be desired. We were told we would have a 5-10 minute wait. Wait was closer to 20/25 minutes. Check in is downstairs so we couldn't see the dining room. When we finally made it upstairs there were a lot of empty tables and lots of seating st the bar. We were never given bar seating as a quicker option. There were often 3-4 people at the hostess desk (overstaffed). Dining room seemed understaffed. Took almost 10 minutes before we saw our server. She was pleasant but inattentive. Had the basic burger. Quite tasty. Asked for extra veggies and kitchen forgot them. Server didn't notice until we asked about it. She brought them in fairly short order though we never did get the pickles advertised on the menu. Daily special salad was quite good Not a great place to go if you're in a hurry. Given it's the only game up there, not bad if a bit pricey (we expected it to be pricey) Would give it another try. read more

Amazing food and incredible service! I had the veggie burger with salad, and my husband had the bahn mi sandwich with salad. Our salads were really fresh and the sandwiches were flavorful and filling. Best veggie burger I had during our Tahoe stay. Our server was really kind and helpful- she recommended the bahn mi and it was delicious! She also gave us great recommendations for things to do during our stay in Tahoe- we hiked the rubicon trail per her recommendation, and we had the best time. This place was great! I came here in the summer and the food was soo good. I had the daily noodle which was gnocchi with vegetables and honestly I don't remember what else. It was a little expensive, and there wasn't a lot of pasta but it was definitely worth it! Savor it and don't share it. My bro got the hamburger and garlic fries. Burger was good, but the garlic fries were ridiculous. They were perfectly crispy, garlicky, but not too garlicky. Best garlic fries ever! For example, the fish tacos had minimal cilantro and tomato, and the accompanying sauce hardly lived up to its fruity description. The fries are good, but not worth the price, flies are guests on the upper walls, and the service is average. The location and view of Tahoe is stunning, yet this restaurant manages to take the visitor's attention away from the view and towards its overpriced, mediocre dining experience. read more

BANH MI -- This consists of a pork and pheasant spiced sausage served on an ordinary carpy hotdog bun. The sausage is pleasant enough but nothing exciting and the tiny shrapnel of cabbage slaw, cilantro, fresno chili, tamari aioli doesn't make up for the delectable burger with fried egg on top that I'm sniffing on my RIGHT. It's a pretty good joint for where they're located in HIGH CAMP. However, they need to veto that sausage off the menu. It's too expensive for how mediocre it is. read more

There's something magical about ski burgers (and as much as they cost at the resort, there ought to be!)...maybe its the affect of the altitude on your tastebuds, maybe its the way you earned it on the steeps and trees in Silverado. Of all the ski burgers I've had in the 40 years I've skied Squaw, the one at Granite Bistro Cafe just exceeds all expectations for the genre. First, it's fresh Angus beef. Second, it's grilled perfectly to your expectations. Third, the toppings are fresh and abundant. Finally, the brioche bun is perfect. You can also add caramelized onions, avocado or your choice of cheeses if you are so inclined. With one of the local brews they serve on tap and a side of their perfectly executed double-fried fries, I can't image a better indulgent lunch. Now, if they only had dijon mustard! read more

i came to high camp looking for a bathroom but what i found was so much better! the service was spectacular from tessa, anaïs, karleen, and aj. they helped me navigate their epic menu and were very friendly. the bistro burger is amazing, and the irish coffee was just what i needed to get back out on those slopes. i totally recommend this place, next time im gonna get the cauliflower or the soup because those both looked incredible as well. read more

After taking the Tram, go to this restaurant for "fine" dining. Fine is in quotes because you can't expect much so way up in the hills. But I had a fine time, a quick break from the slopes and had a bean burger (for a vegan like me), and a KT coffee, which is coffee with Rum. The server was nice and prompt. She even assured me that I can take my coffee to go so I can enjoy my rum coffee out in one of their patios. Cold, but beautiful. Oh, one thing is the sides are extra, I think. I got garlic fries and they were $4 surprise. I would've liked to have known that in advance. But otherwise, great pit stop at Squaw Valley! read more

When walking up to the host stand, the host Isabel is a poor representation of your company. She was rude when asked questions and definitely does not need to be working/talking to customers. We love taking the Squaw Valley tram up to the top and having lunch and now that we've discovered Granite Bistro, we'll make it a yearly thing. We were smart this time and got there around 11:30 so we had our choice of outdoor seating. If you wait until noon, there's a long wait. There's something for everyone on the menu and we had a very friendly and efficient server. We shared the chipotle black bean burger and it was excellent. They also have a good wine list and both the burger and the wine were very reasonably priced. We'd expect things to be a lot higher considering that this place is at the top of a mountain. We took the tram up walked around and thought let's sit down and enjoy after all the great reviews we read. We got seated right away on the outside patio. Got our water and told us that our server will be right with us. We waited, waited and saw lots of workers and people getting waited on, another group came in on the patio, got seated and server was right with them, I asked the server who was our server ? They will be right with you, this is after well over a 20 min wait and we waited another 15 mins still no one waited on us. So we got up and left! Had a chance to get back to Squaw Valley and was excited to take my girlfriend up to High Camp to meet some friends for lunch and the pool. The pool was awesome, as was all the pool staff, however the bistro was a huge disappointment. The food was overpriced and mediocre at best. I had the fried rice and my girlfriend had the watermelon salad. I was appalled by the way (the manager ?), AJ, spoke with the server in front of guests. It was completely unprofessional, and made everyone uncomfortable. Poor choice on his part. read more
