The best grass-fed beef in Texas!!!…read more They have a selection of fresh vacuum sealed beef from their farms in all different kinds of cuts. If you call a day or so ahead they'll custom cut you steaks and meats they way you want them. They also have a freezer full of frozen cuts of their beef. Then they've got a few different freezers full of pork, chicken, and lamb from other local farms that taste wonderful. Some other things they carry are eggs, usually some kind of local veggie or two, local raw cheeses, grass-fed beef jerky that is delicious(made from their beef), and some other local goodies. But If I were you I'd go on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday when they're serving up their grass-fed burgers! I'm talking about the BEST BURGER YOU"LL EVER HAVE!!! Locally made toasted brioche bun from Dallas, farm grown organic butter lettuce, farm grown organic ripe beef steak tomatoes, crisp onions, perfectly seasoned JUICY grass-fed patty that'll drip down your arm, cheese if you want it, and your choice of sauces. They've also got grilled onions and jalapeno's, for an extra .50 cents I think. No french fries though..... Just great chips and good bottled sodas (made from cane sugar) to choose from. I came about 15mins before they were closing on a Sunday and the women and the young cook greeted me with a smile and were MORE than happy to cook me up a burger while I shopped around. The burger was sooo sooo good that I was joking to the cook (but was serious in my head) I could eat another burger or two. He insisted that he cook me another one even though they were past closing time by then, saying they'll be there cleaning up while I eat my second one. He even asked me if I wanted some jalapenos and grilled onions on there for no extra charge (I wanted to try my first burger from them normal so I could get a feel for the true taste) . Talk about friendly service! Go over to Burgundy Pasture Beef and get yourself a wonderful tasting bone-in rib-eye and grab the best burger in DFW while your're there!

Roughnecks - Garden Salad. This was a plate, not a bowl. There was no depth to the salad amount. WAY too small of a portion for $10.

First time to Roughnecks in Rio Vista, texas…read more Was there before normal dinner hours on a Wednesday. Compadre had the beef quesadilla, I had a Garden Salad ($9.95 per the menu). One server behind the bar, and from what we could tell, one cook. My salad came out in an okay time. Compadre's beef quesadilla took a solid 20 minutes (they weren't elated). I was shocked at how small the salad was. Barely bigger than a side salad, for $10. Not pleased. Salad itself was fine - iceberg, tomato, cheese, all fresh. Compadre said the bf quesadilla was real tasty. Good marks for flavor but not wait time. There was definite confusion, and lack of transparency, with the bill. We paid separate. I'd distinctly recalled the $9.95 price for the salad. On my bill (pic attached) it said "Base Amount, $10.77", followed by "Non Cash Discount $0.38" (which was an additional charge, not a discount), then "Sub Total $11.15". I don't care about $1-$2, but I do care about honesty and transparency. The bartender/server came from the kitchen. I mentioned the salad was $9.95 & didn't understand the charges. She said "Base Amount is the $9.95 salad plus tax." (which isn't a base price. Base price is $9.95.) I then mentioned the "discount" line is actually a charge. She said, "Yes, since you paid with a card that is added to the bill." I replied, "Does it say anywhere on your menu that paying by card incurs an additional charge?" She replied, "No, it doesn't." So, the restaurant is adding about a 3% charge to all transactions which aren't paid via cash. And they don't tell clientele about this. That's unethical and sleazy business. I don't care about the $9.95 becoming $11.15, but I do care about a business letting me know what their business practices are, so I can then determine how I want to take care of my bill. The food was good. My portion was def not big enough. And a quesadilla shouldn't really take 20-ish minutes to arrive (it's effectively an appetizer). Very likely won't be back. Wish them well, but the very oddly worded receipt, plus not being up-front about their charges, I don't wish to give these type of people my business.

Roughnecks - Oddly worded receipt. No itemization, and a "discount" which was actually a (approximately 3%) charge.

She was very direct and told us upfront it would be about a 20-minute wait, which I appreciated. While we waited, I sat in the car listening to the thunder and rain. There was something peaceful and simple about that moment and I loved it. My husband stayed inside to wait for the food. During that time, a couple came back in upset about the wait and asked for their money back. The owner had just returned from a family event and was clearly trying her best to make things right. Even when the couple was rude, she handled it with grace and empathy, saying, "I'm sad that we failed you." It was such a human moment. One that showed how much she cares about her customers and her business. And our hamburgers were absolutely delicious! Definitely worth the wait. I enjoyed everything about this experience. Support small businesses like this one, friends! It's a hidden gem where real people work hard and care deeply about what they serve.

The whole place felt bright, fun, and very old-school. The lady at the front was super nice and sweet too. I ordered the Pops Double Combo with American cheese, ketchup, pickles, and onions. The burger was really good. The patties were tender and full of that familiar grilled beef flavor, with a nice little char around the edges. The American cheese melted right into the meat and gave it that creamy, salty flavor that just belongs on a classic burger. The pickles added a sharp little crunch, while the onions brought a bit of sweetness. Just tasted like a really good old-fashioned burger. The kind of flavor I recognized right away, but somehow better than I remember. The bun, beef, cheese, ketchup, pickles, and onions all worked together perfectly.
