Everyone there is so friendly, and it really felt like the service was so good there, they were only serving me. That's just how fast it is. Inside is always great, too. Calico's has a large range of artworks, trinkets, and more. They showcase R66 stuff, too. The inside is never too hot or too cold, and it's all clean and comfortable with a massive space inside. Best, Best, Best.............As always the best homemade hometown food in the tri-state area. My family and I have eaten here numerous times and would eat here even more regularly if I lived in kingman but unfortunately I don't, I live in Mohave Valley. The Chicken fried steak, chicken fried pork, chicken fried chicken, hamburger steak, ham steak, pancakes, eggs, hash browns, corn beef hash, green Chile burger, regular burgers biscuits & gravy and the list goes on. Yummy yummy yummy This last time was the only time we were a little sad, not with the food but the service. The young female waitress seemed annoyed.., we were all happy and were nice to her. The place was pretty loud because it's a small building and it seems to always be packed and this is ok because it's well worth the wait. The girl got two orders wrong which wasn't a huge deal, wrong style of potatoes and (nephew ordered a Steak medium rare with fries) and was given chicken fried steak with hash browns. Nephew and I waited and tried to get her attention but she was busy so after 5 or so minutes he laughed and started eating and was just hungry lol. We never got the chance to explain the mistake because she was so fast, when she stopped by once during our whole stay to refill a water at the end of the table and off she went. She never returned and I was kinda not wanting to bother her anyway because she was busy and by this time looked angry and more annoyed, Maybe just super busy but I didn't want to bother or upset her more by pointing out the mistakes. It totally happens. No worries. We tidied up our table as we always do and left. The nice lady (supervisor/manager maybe) was super nice, greeted and talked to everyone in the restaurant and did lil bit if everything. She got the $50 dollar tip. Drove a few miles based purely on yelp - out of the touristy stuff, past the Denny's. Looking for a local place, give my kids some culture. Walked up to the door, " NO CREDIT CARDS". It appears Grandpa is still living in the 60s. If there were an ATM near by then no big deal, but Grandpa's Kitchen is out past industrialville and no where near the freeway. There is literally two liquor stores and a coin laundromat- but no atm's to be found. Grandpa should have his grandkids get a Square account so they can draw a new generation. Just a thought. Felt like I had pancakes at the Texas chainsaw massacre house. All inclusive with glistening sweaty wife beater wearing bust boy, young forgetful waitress and old forgetful waitress. This "best kept secret" doesnt have enough seating for the few old people who look so miserable you want to leave while waiting thirty minutes for undercooked pancakes. Dont buy the hype its not good and will have you wanting to leave the whole time. The breakfast I ordered could be shared between not only 2 but actually 3 people. Excellent quality and value for the money. The Free WIFI worked wonderfully. One fried egg and 1 piece of bacon broken in half and could only assume 1 piece of cheese. So flimsy for $12!! I could've gotten 2 breakfast sandwiches from Starbucks for that price. It said "fresh fruit" as a side option, but it was most definitely fruit cocktail from a can like you'd get on your lunch tray in elementary school There were no size options for the drinks!! My dirty chai was 20 oz or more! So I basically got a entire cup of milk with 2 shots and whatever they use for Chai. $72 down the drain. We roadtrip from FL to CA and back 2x per year and like to support local businesses, but this one just wasn't it! Its almost like they don't want returning customers. Maybe it's a front or something? One employee?? What if there were 2 or 3+ cars in the drive thru + people inside? People would be waiting 30 - 40 minutes or more! Save your dollars and your time. Go anywhere else.
