It was not that bad for the price the staff where pleasant and the rooms where clean and tidy although could probably do with a bit of a refurbishment. The slightly sloping floor in the bedroom gives away the age and condition of this place but wouldn't be averse to stopping here again. I've stopped in a lot worse in years gone by. We did get woken up at 5.30am by the Fire alarm fortunately as there was a fire, but Corks finest put it out not too much damage as far as we where aware as we did get let back in by 7.30am and it just added another experience in ones life.

We've been in Carrick for three weeks, staying nearby, and walk to the hotel's restaurant nearly every day for tea, coffee, scones, and sometimes for lunch or dinner. The Carraig has the best wi-fi internet we've found in the town, giving us a chance to remain in touch with home in the U.S. The staff here is the best, friendly, helpful. They're open from about 8 AM until late, and can pull a really nice pint (or half-pint if you prefer) of Guinness, as well as a selection of other beverages. We haven't had occasion to use the hotel facilities, but no doubt they'll measure up to the downstairs. Thanks to all the staff for providing a home away from home.

Just not a warm first impression. We were exhausted and starving, and that was a dumb rule. The woman at the front desk was not particularly pleasant, and she was also the bartender. Our room was sub par, cigarette burns in the tub. No extra toilet paper in the room when we ran out. And the broken thermostat was blinking the whole stay, begging for a filter change...gross. The china was also dirty at breakfast. The only pluses I will give to this place: the sitting and dining rooms were decorated well and the OTHER staff (NOT the receptionist/bartender) were pleasant. Beers were the traditional offerings on tap. Prices weren't bad either - what one would expect after a couple days in Ireland.
