Went there with my daughters for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. They had 2 of my fav dishes, duck and shrimp head on. I understand shrimp with the shells and heads on, maybe off putting to some, however, I love it! In my culture shrimp with the head on is a delicacy, and I don't mind peeling it myself. They had multiple ready to eat/peeled shrimp dishes for those who prefer that. My daughters (adult daughters) enjoyed the crab legs, sushi, and fried dough. The price was very fair, and the service was phenomenal, especially for a buffet. They were quick and polite when taking our plates. If they continue to have duck and head on shrimp, I'll keep returning. Overall great food, service, and price! read more

I can't remember the last time I went to an Asian Chinese style Buffet that was this bad. I mean really bad. I got a plate to go and was afraid of everything I got. More afraid of what I did not get especially the fish items. The sushi bar and the lobster as well as crawfish were screaming out " eat this and you will be in the emergency room in 20 minutes " All items were overcooked and dried out. The only food with Chinese seasoning was the Roast beef you cut yourself. You had part raw part med rare or well done. I knew it was going to be horrible because it was lime cutting a shoe to get a piece. I was right. Stuffed mushrooms 1/2 were sour 1/3 were buttery and weird. ShuMai awful. Instantly tasted rancid. I spit it in my hand and threw it out the window. Steamed pork bun had a tiny piece of pork meatball ins. It was very dry no flavor ( out the window) Kimchi loaded with sugar Eggplant loaded with sugar we'd loaded with sugar Stuffed mussels load with sugar. Everything was sweet!! Why?? I left the phone in my car if you saw the food you would understand that this place will not remain open very long. The one and only item I would ever go back here for is the Hot and Sour soup. Probably the best within 20 miles. Very authentic. Restaurant is very big very clean. Staff was very odd and unfriendly. But I'm used to that. We were told that there is a new buffet in town so we have to try it! We went fo Grand Buffet in Mahopac, I think they opened few months ago. They were great, better than other places with very oily food and of course the closest one we have instead of going all the way in Danbury and Cortlandt. They have a lot of seafoods with sushi area. They are clean and servers are attentive. :) It's a combination of American and Chinese food, which is great and has more choices, they have varieties from chicken, pork, beef and more! They also have some cold seafood, which I wish they also have Hot crabs and seafoods too! Their shrimp has flavor as well as the other seafoods they have, my favorite was the cheesy mussels! Yum! Went twice for it! They have some vegetables if you're vegetarian and of course some sushi and sashimi too! Some seasoned fruits, different salads as well are available. We went there for their Wednesday night, advertised special , only to find out after being seated that most seafood was NOT included in the advertised "All you can eat" price. Crab legs are cold and you have to ask to have them steamed. My friend's lobster tail was gray and smelled bad. Suggested tip on the bill starts at 18%. Which is ridiculous for a mediocre buffet. A good buffet with a moderate selection of both American and American-Chinese food, along with sushi and some raw seafood (oysters, crab legs). We were seated promptly and service was quick with drinks or with any other needs. Food was pretty typical offerings-wise, but good quality and flavor of the dishes they offer. Everyone at the table enjoyed their dinner and went back for several plates, and for around 24 dollars per person the buffet is a good value. There was salmon and mussels offered, however both seafood dishes were absolutely covered in cheese, which made them pretty unappetizing to our table who otherwise loves salmon. Would definitely go back for lunch or dinner but would love to see the seafood not be mixed with dairy, and some more dumpling offerings as well. read more

Nice addition to the local area. Used to go to King Buffet down in Cortlandt Manor, but it's fallen off so much since the change in ownership that we stopped going altogether. This place is clean with a good selection and the best service I've ever received at a Chinese buffet - I started to open my crab legs and a server practically ran to my table to offer me a utensil to crack the shells. Later I was eating peel and eat shrimp and a different server brought me a plate for the shells so I didn't have to put them on the same dish as my food. Really incredible service for a buffet. The food is good but not the best Chinese food I've ever had. I would say it's much better than king buffet's present offering, but not as good as king buffet's offering under the previous ownership. I found several things that are really good and some that's just OK. Nothing I ate was bad which is unusual for a buffet from my experience. The lady with the one star review must have never eaten at a Chinese buffet before, because this one is pretty decent and doesn't deserve such a nasty review. We constantly complain about not having different options locally and finally get one only to have someone rush to post a 1 star review before they've even left the table - that's pretty sad. Give this place a try - it's a good value and a nice change of pace from the 254 Italian restaurants in the area. read more

I know people hear the word buffet and they have doubts, but you should have none about this restaurant. The food is presented in smaller pans so that it is always fresh and hot. There is a plethora of items to choose from including sushi ! You should try it for lunch or dinner you can't go wrong. My wife and I learned about this location from earlier reviews and initially felt they were reasonable with variety of food choices. That was 6 months ago when we enjoyed the whole lobster weekend food inclusion. Then it was 1/2 lobster then 1/4 lobster to anything but lobster. This past weekend we wanted to visit the establishment and enjoy lobster. We walked in, the hostess stated the cheese lobster would be brought out shortly as we were about to leave. We remained and found we were lied to and no cheese lobster was served during our entire stay. The food was cold which became another concern. The room temperature was acceptable but the trip to the bathrooms were like going into a freezer. It seemed it was one way to have the customer quickly use the restroom wearing a hat, scarf, gloves and minimum 700 North Face coat! The food was so bad, my wife got food poisoning and rushed to leave never finishing the food on her plate. We felt this place had been going down ever since our first visit and are convinced this is not an establishment we can recommend to anyone. The staff is friendly and polite. But the food is other than consumable. We thought there are temperature requirements for food being offered to the public. Maybe this location is exempt from those department of health requirements. Neither bathroom has signage for employees to wash their hands. Guess another exemption or just bacteria transferred to the food. If you have any doubts on my feedback, visit the Yelp review November 2025 from Putnam County board of health upon visiting this establishment. They were not pleased upon their reported findings. Pros- 1. Lovely interior. 2. Spotless. 3. Decent selection with baked salmon, sushi, and other meat options. 4. A great $12.99 lunch price with large $2.50 sodas. Two persons will come to just under $34 or $40 with a generous tip. Cons- 1. Dinner prices are an extra $11 per person or $23.99, and it's likely the same selection. Their selection is really poor. The food did not taste great. The sushi was mediocre. You can get better sushi at even ShopRite. The only pro were the snow crab legs. We filled up on the fruit bar because the fruit was also fresh. Service was really nice though. Hopefully with time they can get better read more

I have visited the Grand Buffet 3 times. I raved about the restaurant on my first visit. My second visit was ok as their selection changed, but not to my liking. The quality of the oysters and sushi were good and varied, but items that I liked including the fantastic duck were not present. They did offer lobster with an overwhelming CHEESE coating which I thought diminished the lobster. My third visit today reminded me of the mediocrity of KING BUFFET. The items were the same and like all other boring AYCE restaurants and not worthy of calling the visit an exciting culinary adventure. The oysters were of a lesser quality, the food in different areas were cold and the sushi selection reduced. The spare ribs were "gooey" and not noteworthy. My daughter and I were very excited to try the new buffet. We were both Very disappointed. The food was marginal tasted waterlogged and soggy. They do put out a wide variety of food. But stuff you wouldn't expect that a buffet like hot dogs chicken fingers a lot of americanized food. The oriental food itself was bland. We probably will not be giving it another try. We love this buffet! So happy our town got their own buffet. Staff is amazing, food and variety is great, very clean dining area. Freshness is very good and a fair price for what you get here. Large space, even if busy there's tons of room. My Chinese wife is a foods critic far more than I and she loves going there often. Huge parking lot here. Down the sidewalk there's a Stop & Shop, nail spa, cigar store and others that often make this a multi purpose stop. read more

Went there for the first time today, because of all the hype. It's all the way on the east side of Mahopac and I'm in Peekskill, 5 minutes from King Buffet, so I won't be back. I ended up with mainly desserts, as the cherry, strawberry, and apple pies looked good. They were ok, not as tasty as expected. The sugared fried donuts were way overcooked to the point that they were hard. King Buffet's are fantastic. The wonton soup had the wontons in a steamer next to the soup, which had no scallion pieces. I didn't get any because the wontons looked dried out. Btw, they don't have pint containers for the soup, only half-pint and quart containers. Don't know why anyone would want a half-pint of soup. No eggrolls, only springrolls. What's up with that? The mussels with sauce were quite good. Jackie S., who wrote they were covered with cheese was incorrect. It looks like cheese, but it's a cream sauce, similar, maybe the same as the shrimps covered with cream sauce. It was very good. What looked like spareribs was meat, probably pork, covered with a mild, tasteless BBQ sauce. Not at all what I expected. It was next to the salmon and a pork roast or brisket, so maybe it was part of the "American" cuisine there. My cats liked it a lot. They don't care if it's from Grand Buffet or King Buffet, but I do. I've been going to King Buffet for decades. I don't know when the ownership changed, but I never noticed it. It's consistent and the food is very good. And the wontons are in the soup, which has lots of scallion bits! And the spareribs are what we all know as Chinese spareribs! Omg this was the worst chinese buffet I have ever been to! The food and selection was terrible. They only put out a little of each dish. The ribs had no taste and had bbq sauce poured over then. General tso chicken was swimming in sauce all mush. 3 chicken on a stick in tray and everything looked unappetizing. The shrimp dishes had shrimp in shells with legs in sauce. The ribs were so tough I couldn't even cut with knife. I will be spending $28 for a chicken on a stick and a piece of peanut brittle and fyi chinese food is my favorite. Do not cone here. was excited for this buffet until I Rcd my bill. they charge extra if you use a debit card. they place the receipt for buffet and attach another receipt for the card usage fee.. they put the buffet ticket on t;op of the fee ticket. so as if to hide it. I realize some cards have fees. I just think this establishment is very sneaky on how they try to hide it. it's unfortunate not sure if I'll go back.
