China Taste is back in Carmel and was truly missed. It's a family run kitchen where you see the children who when small, sat doing homework, now taking orders as part of the business. Their house special dishes like their variations on Wonton soup or fried rice are great meals by themselves. They also have standard fare and make your own combination dishes that are great when you have different tastes and everyone can get their own choice prepared as they like it. read more

This is my new to go to restaurant I've tried within a year we've moved to Mahopac about 4 different Chinese restaurants and lacked flavor or did not make the dish properly did not have certain things you wanted or overcharged to much for a horrible tasting dish. so far they've been good I like their fried rice if you want them to add extra sauce or not to much of something they will make sure they make the dish to your liking. they also have half of chicken a lot of places out here don't have that only have chicken wings. I like their teriyaki chicken and beef on a stick could use more teriyaki sauce would be 100% better with some more sauce on it the beef on stick would taste better as well if out u see the broiler then fried but other then that it's still good but can be better but still good!! like all their food just hate mushrooms and onions sometimes they overdo it with it but if you tell them take it out they sure won't put it so you have to tell them how you want your food cooked with vegetables without vegetables with extra sauce or less sauce extra spicy least spicy they will accommodate you. also you get free things when spend over certain amount like free small general cao chicken or 2 liter of soda or egg rolls soups etc The owner is very nice and polite unless there is somewhere better I stick with this place !! read more

This is your average Putnam County Chinese take out. Mostly it's good frozen food that's been prepared in in that old oil that makes everything glisten a golden color. Some things are fresh made, or seem to be fresh, like their veggies. Ironically, this sounds like a negative review but it's just comfort Chinese food and we still occasionally order there. They are nice people who work there. They don't get our orders wrong, ever. Once you find your favorite item on their menu, it's just a quick phone call away to get some decent Chinese food. Yes, this is an average review but that's both good and bad and that's what this place is...right down the middle of the road. read more

The food had an inappropriate smell, the egg drop soup and rice with shrimp was too undercooked. This place has been sued a few times for food safety read more

Large order last night. Mediocre at best. It was early but their fryer needed oil change. Shrimp toast awful. Fried rice had strange taste. Chix and snow peas had mostly other veggies. Dumplings were also odd tasting. Ribs were good but a bit dry. Did not keep any leftovers.Basically dissapointed since it's the only game in town now. read more

The best in the neighborhood!! Very friendly fast and reasonably priced! Highly recommend!! read more

I know you just reopened heck we have been waiting a long time for this. However all the food was very disappointing. It used to be great. Chicken wings over cooked inedible fried rice dry beef chow fun meat was closer to beef jerky than the silky beef the dish is known for and the egg drop soup was like dishwater. We will try you again in a few weeks. I don't believe any business should be rated solely on one visit however if we encounter the same results then we will be searching for a new place. It's a shame we really liked it in the past. read more

Excellent Chinese food spot. Lunch special, General Tso combo, was filling and delicious for less than 9 bucks. Can pretty much get 2 meals out of it. Staff is friendly and efficient. I will definitely return... read more

Wasn't too sure what to expect, but it was surprisingly good. Chicken wings - were crispy and flavorful. Sweet and Sour Shrimp - bigger than what I'm used to, and couldn't really taste the shrimp but the pork fried rice was delicious. I wish they gave more. Moo Shu Beef - very good and filling. All and all it was a good experience. read more

Is this an old add? No answer when called. Wish you could remove old information. It is so inconvenient, also, to have to search for addresses of restaurants. read more

Ambiance in their former location was not good, but the food and service were very good! Looking forward to seeing the new decor when the new store opens a few doors down from the former location! read more

I got a Chicken and Broccoli lunch special there today and it was horrible! The first two bites of chicken were inedible with gristle ~ SO disgusting and unappetizing! The chicken itself (the tiny amount that was there) was awful - two gigantic pieces of tough, nasty chicken which I couldn't even eat! To make matters worse, there were all kinds of other things in there, too, which didn't belong there ~ carrots, scallions and mushrooms. WHO puts all of that into chicken and broccoli? What a ripoff for almost $9. The only reason I went there was because the place across the street (New Pagoda) was not open. Their food is MUCH better! I suggest if you want Chinese food in that area, go across the street to New Pagoda! read more

My new go-to Chinese restaurant in Carmel. Fresh, tasty, friendly, and fast. Plus you can order on Grubhub which makes it 10x more convenient than the other places that require you call them to order. Just go here. read more

People really underrated this place I've tried all the Chinese stores up here and this is my first place they are friendly and the food is always great! read more

The lunch specials are $7.95 plus tax, which is great compared to other Chinese take out spots but you should expect lots of rice and very little meat or shrimp. The prices on the online menu are dated too. read more

Glad I didn't listen to the bad reviews! We recently moved to Carmel and this place is close to our house, so far we ordered only twice but each time it was been delicious! Fried dumplings, chicken and broccoli (brown sauce yumm! NOT orange sauce) and spare rib combo with the egg roll, all so good! read more

ordered vegetable dumplings. in the container was a few pieces of what looked like pork. Opened the dumplings inside was what looked like bad tofu with a brown film on the pieces. Aren't vegetable dumplings supposed to just have vegetables in it. I'm convinced they tried to poison me. Don't go to this place they don't value there customers and will put whatever they want in your food. Pay attention. read more

Food was horrible. The white meat looked freezer burnt and the sesame chicken was all breading and no chicken. Avoid at all cost.

Probably the best take out Chinese food in the area. No one does it better. The egg rolls are never greasy like some other take outs.

Great people working there. Good is really good for the price you can't go wrong. Phenomenal food.

My family and I used to get take out from China taste whenever we got Chinese food. We usually used a credit card to pay. No more. Our black skinned friend went to pick up the food and he was told that they don't take credit cards. Do you want to give your hard earned money to a place like that? I don't and I won't. I wanted to put no stars but it was required. No stars. read more

This place is definitely 5 stars. I've been living up here for over a decade and this place has the best and freshest Chinese food.

I'm originally from the Bronx, so you know I know a thing or two about Chinese food. This place reminds me so much of the spots in the south Bronx. If you're looking for a quick trip to memory lane minus the miles, this should be your first choice. They're always quick to get your order ready and they really hold up the Chinese restaurant ambiance. read more

First time ordering and I have to say, GREAT experience! Restaurant was clean, staff were friendly, service was fast and most importantly the food was GREAT! I'm new to the area and have been looking for a go-to Chinese take out restaurant and China Taste has won out over all the others I've tried in the area! read more

Average food at best. Rude, obnoxious, greedy owners. They charge $1.00 for crunchy noodles, mustard and dumpling sauce. Constantly trying to gouge their customers and they are just plain ole rude..Go to New Padoga in Carmel or Panda House in Danbury... Better food nicer owners..This place doesn't appreciate or deserve loyal customers. Go elsewhere. read more

My go-to spot. The family who owns it is very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. Their vegan orange chicken is amazing and I'm glad I have an actual vegan option in this area that isn't fast food or a 20 buck sandwich. It's not much to look at but some of the best Chinese spots are holes in the wall so idc about that lol read more

Vegan options are good. I like that it's not greasy. Bubble teas are okay, not the greatest but I still give it 5 stars for the food.

We're new to the area and have been having a craving for some Chinese throughout this whole covid pandemic. We saw that China taste was under new ownership and decided to give it a try. Staff was very friendly and helpful. And honestly the food was 100% better then the restaurants we had back in my old town. You're run of the mill Chinese place but something about the food just was generally better then what I have had. Definitely recommend. Would order from here again. read more

Very disappointed. Quality has deteriorated Just had pork and mixed veggies and brown rice. The pork was old and dried out. Too tough to chew. Definitely left over from God knows when. The Brown rice was clumpy, dried out crunchy and I'm guessing old as well. Also left a perfume like after taste- I spit it out immediately! Praying I don't get sick Will definately be patronizing Toro's ! read more

I usually order from China Taste in person for pick up and I've never had a problem. I ordered for delivery and the food took an hour to get to me. It was a VERY simple meal, garlic chicken two orders of crab Rangoon, two shrimp rolls, chicken mei fun soup. All of the food I ordered tasted completely bland and the fried food was burnt and soaked in oil. Egg rolls were completely over cooked same with the Crab Rangoon. The Mei fun soup I ordered just barely had flavor. I paid a decent amount and probably shouldn't have tipped the driver and I gave over a 20% tip because I was expecting to have a delicious meal. Never again. read more

Absolutely amazing under the new management! The ingredients are SO FRESH and the food is spectacular. You will not find better takeout in the area! read more

UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP!!!!! This is probably the best Chinese takeout food in Carmel, and trust me I've tried them all. I moved up from NYC so am use to a higher standard of food regardless if takeout. Super happy with this place. Highly recommend! read more

I got the Seafood Delight...... it was no delight! Absolutely the worst seafood I have ever had from a Chinese restaurant. The lobster was very tough and what they called crabmeat was mushy and didn't taste like meat. Never again read more

Honestly, one of the best takeout places I've been too. Crab Rangoon is crazy good. It's a nice family business. I always feel welcomed there. read more

Unfortunately like all the other reviews I gave this place a try.. what a mistake. I made a relatively simple order. Not only did they not give me exactly what I ordered. I was charged 25 dollars for 2 combination dishes. While further inspection of their menu revealed I was over charged. It's been about 12 hours now after I ate that food. And my girlfriend and I are so sick with stomach aches.. do yourself a favor and remember the reviews. They are accurate... Carmel has a bunch of Chinese food places.. choose one just not this one. read more

They are so so here! Carmel doesn't have many Chinese restaurants to choose from but after this experience its now one less! My pork fried rice w/boneless spare ribs rice was in a plastic to go container and the bottom was a bed of oil, my rice was oily and they advertise on the menu 100% vegetable oil, I don't think that means using a bottle on 1 meal! This restaurant was disappointment after disappointment! We had a coupon for free 2 liter soda after spending 20.00, they conveniently forgot to give it to is. After an hour I went back for it & she claimed to not remembered me buying food there!! I showed the receipt with the hour and she didn't look happy at all to fork over the lousy 2 liter! They bagged our meal without spoons napkins, or forks, So if we had decided to eat at the park we would have been S.O.L. ! As well as no duck sauce no soy sauce no hot sauce ! These people are as cheap as cheap is out there the restaurant is cold inside so your food will be cold within minutes! Don't bother coming here it was an awful experience read more

worst chinese food in putnam county with the highest prices. crab rangoon has no crab it's cream cheese in a wonton. chicken and broccoli sauce was so thick it wasn't edible. my dog wouldn't eat it read more

Service was fast and friendly, but the food was gross. I gave them a shot (usually I go to New Pagoda Kitchen next to CVS) but thought I would try a new place. Bad idea. Everything was SO salty but flavorless. Chicken was chewy, lo mein was soggy and the fried rice was abysmal. Waste of money! read more
